Yeah, you'll do it for cheap but would you do it for the plant? Would you finance this education and travels etc, for the plant? If so, wtf are you waiting for?

Retire with cash, lol. Listen, less than a small handfull make 6 figures doing this, I barely made five figures gross, fucking 10k, that's the truth, now what? You are all under some illusion that just isn't so man. I ain't lying friendly.

thanks and made two trips to south america already
taken a few years to find landraces
working on stock and lines,
Have a Diploma in Horticulture as well

and yes it has all been for the love of one plant
and no i do not think your seeds are over priced

actually respect the time you have devoted to a DC, years...

but you have to admit there are some breeders who cross, don't really stabilize... and sell for a decent profit,
they would be who I am referring to, it is frusterating not seeing new product come to market...

my bitch resides in the hype market, I made this clear in post 254

im pretty sure the right letter to the right breeder would see you not have to pay for your seed , i havent seen a single breeder that wouldnt support the sick .. as long as its genuine , youll find none have a problem helping you out man ...

I guess you're right... :) And that's how I'm able to grow right now. Still I would not go and ask people for free seeds, maybe i'm too proud to beg for freebies... somehow it doesn't feel right...eh, hard to explain. I just would like to be normal and not be treated like sick person even though the fact is that i am a sick person. This must be sounding scizophrenic. :xmasnut:

Thanks Tom for teaching. I don't no what else to say. Pricing anything is somewhat of an art. Of course you have to understand your market and what your NET will be. If the price is not right you can fuck yourself out a distribution opportunity. The price that you see in the window does not tell the whole story. Some distributors take a 40% margin. That is a huge cut. You know why Trader Joe's is so cheap? No Distributor.

Let me see, they grow weed where it is legal.
They then get to sell the weed.
Then they get to charge 10 11 12 bucks a seed.

A buck or 2 should be more than enough, for these growers.

Let weed be legalized and they will be out on their azz, and it will serve them right.

As an old school Hippie, I am truly disappointed by my fellow heads.
I don't know about all that brother man.. I think high prices are the effect of much hard work and the invaluable crosses between WONDERFUL genetics. I've used quite a few breeders. Some lowly priced and some high priced. Is there a difference in the end result. YES my friend. Some breeders charge alot and I wasn't crazy about the result and if this is what you're referring to then ok.. You got it there.

Have you heard of a company called AAA Reservoir Seeds? They're up there in price but there is NO other breeder that even compares bro. Trust me I used a few like I said before. So to make a long story short if you feel upset about paying a bit more just buy from REZ and you wont be disappointed at the end brother. Good luck!!

I can dig it, as much as "some breeders" frustrate you guys, it frustrates the hell out of me and others that few of you (the customers) can see the difference. Let's be honest here, most customers just want a piece of what they see online when they see a prety plant or one all hyped up. Most breeders of said lines never took the time to educate themselves in what they're doing. It's deeply rooted and goes back the the very inception of this biz, sickening to be sure. The best answer, as far as cannabis is concerned, is for all to aquire an education, not tripping over our skirts over the cost of seed.

It's perfectly okay imo to be working with stuff that brings comercial results, but for jah's sake, have a clue as to why, is my hope.

There will always be folk like Chimera or Charlie G who are going to stand by their guns inspite of market demand, know enough -dear customer- to praise the fuck out of them for it, for cannabis truly benefits from these actions. -T

yes I agree with starter here. havent read whole thread but..
also some seed companies are pure scams. like last year I purchased auto ak48 from sagarmatha for like £50 for a few fem seeds, NONE of them autoflowered thus it was all a waste..every penny and hour of hard work setting up the field etc, all down the drain, and they dont reply when asking. scammers.

not encouraging or anything, but would like to say Im not so much against carding (cc fraud) from these companies any more..and appearently its very easy, according to a friend who got me some seeds;) chargeback fees and fraud charges.. bring it to em

soo many scammers.. and many are just really expensive. theres a few really good dedicated breeders (as u can see on this forum) that I think deserve all kinds of support to keep breeding and all tho^^ may be competition is hard and they need high prices I dont know.. also wondered about this some times, as easy as it is..

but yeah as easy as it is for ppl to make theire own seeds, maybe they HAVE TO take so high prices to make it pay off as Im sure many ppl just make theire own seeds after ordering the first 10 or so..
about 10 reg seeds of a decent strain should be enough for me personally if its a quality strain i like that ill make future seeds from myself, so all i will ever have paid will have been that 10pack which is not That bad i think, for quality genetics from dedicated good breeders :) bigger concern and more important then those $50-$100 here i think is getting it thru customs..

The way I see it is there are strains/packs available to suit everyones budget.
If you think certain seeds are too expensive then don't buy them simple as.

However Seeds are potentially one of very few items that are an investment, either through growing your own and not having to buy weed from the street - or buy doing the reverse and just trading a little to friends for favours or kind you will get your money back and be left with the genetics that you could continue running for a lifetime.

I think people forget that the price they pay is not 100% profit in the breeders pocket. Breeders need time, space, planning and skill and money to keep their operation going.

There are some big seed companies out there that no doubt make a decent profits, the ones who are distributed by countless seedbanks. And I think quality can suffer being mass produced often by 3rd parties. They can set there prices low and still do very well just through the volume they shift.

But don't forget a lot of smaller companies may only sell through seedbay/boo etc, but i'd like to think the quality offsets the price. And is a safer investment knowing the breeders care and know what they are doing. And are there on this forum to speak directly to their customers. I'm happier seeing my money go to people like this.

but you need to understand that world is much bigger place than usa, cannada and holland, there are people in various countries that need the best high they can get, desperately, devastated by life, poverty, sickness, scared, brain washed, ... who will never encounter that high which they desire and need, many reasons some don't know of its existence, some cannot buy it anywhere, some tried it and lost it forever, some cannot grow it nor buy it, some are sick and some are mentally troubled and poor, some are seeking the light.

I once knew one poor troubled mind, who loved cannabis with all his might, every day to be alive he needed to get high, but all he had was bad indica delight. He had many wounds in his head and needed healing or he would die. But when he would have grass he smoked her like his last, in need to get high he rolled fat joints and lighted them one by one. And he couldn't get high, cause stoned he was. One mysterious night wanting to get high he got so much stoned that he died.

cost of the seeds should be related to the economical power of growers country and him personal
seeds should be free for people in pain and terminal diseases
Well you claim to be Gandhi.
Should you be him, meet me at the Union Station in Denver, CO, USA and we'll help all the poor peoples of the World.
Unfortunately, the poor peoples of the World have better access to Ganja than the First World Nations?
WTF?

All I hear is bitch and moan about a 'free lunch'.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There_ain%27t_no_such_thing_as_a_free_lunch

Would anyone like to learn an economic lesson about 'Opportunity Cost'???

Can anyone guess the profit a grower forgoes by devoting that 4, 10, 20 lights or even acre greenhouse to 'breeding'?
Over a period of time? (3 mo, 6 mo, 1 yr)
How long does it take to go from an F2 to an F6, or F12???

Fuck all y'all bitchin!
Don't buy the shit!
If no one bought it, it wouldn't sell, therefore the price would go down if the seller wanted to sell it.

Fucking got a killer pheno out of some Cannabiogen.
Worth a lot more than what my buddy paid for it!
:blowbubbles:

Lets add up:
Airfare
Cost of Hostel ('cause I slum it up)
Food
Domestic Transportation
Opportunity Cost (I could be working instead of selecting pheno's for breeding)
Crossing Int'l Borders with semi/illegal shit.
ect.
ect.

I'm tired.

Number 1 Rule of Economics:
The price of ANYTHING is what someone is WILLING to PAY for it.

if u dont like the high price dont pay it. There are many good breeders that sell there seeds for low prices. But then most of them are hybred seeds of something a real breeder(hmmm Tomhill?) spent a lot of time and effort on to create a true bred strain. If you want the real deal Deep Chunk Youll haveta pay for it, cuz that plant took a lot of time and effort to create. Also the fact that the not everybody can afford to buy um means the market isnt going to be flooded with them, so if u get it you will have something not everybody and there uncle has. If you want some deep chunk influence and cant pay for the whole thing then go with cannacopia, they make deep chunk crosses(that I hope tomhill ok'd) for a lower price. It wont be true breeding genetics but probly some good smoke. ******s also has a lot of good seeds for cheap, among others. you will see a lot of times that the price reflects the time and energy put into making them.
There are also those bullshit overpriced companies that spend all there time on advertising and not making good shit, like something-house, and bcbuddepot. I dont really care for them places.
Bottom line.... Get over that shit. GAS is too expensive, shiit....

Seed Prices Out of control?

100% markup definitely isn't standard, but I realize they aren't Wal-Mart either. It seems like seed sites could be ran by a few people operating in a home office, doesn't seem fair they would make more than the people doing actual work...and its the consumers who pay.

Well put your money where your mouth is and take the opportunity to do it yourself. You obviously think its so easy....
Then problem solved right?
Fair is as subjrctive as costs....

edit: im just saying theres sure are a lot of cooks in the kitchen....

I recently had an "Lowryder2" grow ruined because I had bought the seeds from place that sold me knockoffs. It was an expensive mistake and complete waste of my time. These so-called "automatic" LR2's will only flower under 12/12.

I learned my lesson recently when I thought I was buying real LR2s and was sold some knockoff that will only flower under 12/12.

I put a lot of effort and risk into growing good cannabis. I need good quality seeds.

i love how someone proposes that seed prices are a bit too high, and idiots come on here cussing people out because they disagree with them.

this is a CANNABIS GROWING WEBSITE. if ANY website in the entire world should hold a calm, peaceful populace who discusses things with logic, reason and without name-calling...it should be this...people with the username 'GET MO' clearly show their intelligence level when they say 'f u dont like it dont buy it'

reminds me...where else did that type of mindset come from? oh yeah, george bush. YOU DONT LIKE OUR ILLEGAL WARS, YOU ARENT A PATRIOT...DONT LIKE IT, LEAVE!
