Any estimation on a release date on seeds from RW in 2011 (boo)? I'd dearly love to get some BttC to breed with this summer.

great thread!

great thread!

I'm back to growing the deep congo again, my seed was a freebie from gypsy a few years ago, I have the indica side of it, I've never seen such large leaves on a plant, Richard said he'd recommend we look for the sativa leaning plant over the indica side of it, I wonder why?

I'll post some pics soon, maybe start a new thread to keep the props up for these great genetics.

Deep Chunk is a great breeding tool, but that Congo is a bit rare, and has that great, clean soar to it. The Chunk beefed and tightened up the Congo nugs, but the sativa rush w/ the Chunk euphoria was the one to go for.

[said the guy who never grew it out nor smoked it. ]

When you finally find and sample a Congolese-leaning phenotype, this mystery will disappear in a cloud of smoke...

Everything I've found in these seeds has been stellar. But my F1 Congo-leaning B phenotype is it's own animal. Lightest yielder of all my dCons, makes big loose bunches of teeny tiny individual rock-hard buds that makes Trainwreck popcorn look like donkey dicks. Still has the dCon branch structure, giant fans and those ridiculous Deep Chunk resin leaves, a champion hashplant. Like someone just slapped tiny Sativa buds onto a big chunky Indica plant as a dealer option.

The B pheno is the only dCon I've found with any 'sweetness' to the aroma or flavor. All my others have been savory, spicy, woody, outdoorsy, sagey, but with no fruit or sweetness to be found. The B maintains the wood/sage background, but is much more 'feminine' in her aroma profile, with hints of perfume and dried fruits. Hella incense, kind of a Mediterranean vibe, and the sweetness extends into the flavor.

The high is where she really shines, though. Like I said previously, all plants have been stellar. But the B takes the clarity and focus up about a dozen notches. I've been waxing poetic about the musical properties of dCon for years now. The B pheno is truly The One in that regard. It greatly helps me as an improvising musician to simultaneously regard the Past and Future while remaining and functioning completely in the Now - it practically eliminates the struggle of searching for those states and kind of cranks up the intensity on this glowing blue ball of communal trans-linguistic Other-energy that forms in the midst of any band that's really cooking. Deep Congo B has proven to be the perfect cannabis for the pursuit of this energy. It is full of that energy already. I firmly believe this line was selected for musical purposes in its land of origin. I can't state it as fact because I don't know, but cannabis seems to take up the intentions and character of those who tend her (which is one reason why I'm so careful about where I get my seeds).

Richard Williams and others have stated that the pure Congolese is "the preferred cannabis of musicians in Europe". Something to the effect of "turn on the band with some Congolese and you'll really see a show". My personal findings completely agree with these statements. All phenos have been great enhancers of musical thought. But the B is The One in my collection.

Sorry, no photos... but she's going outside this summer, and will be photographed.

I love this thread. We fucking know...

A recent dCob B anecdote...

Gave my little brother a jar of B from my last harvest. He takes it to the house of the heaviest smoker he knows - a grower, dude burns tampon-sized blunts of Kush, Chem, Purps to his head all day long. Apparently nobody they know can keep up with him. My brother rolls a standard size doob of the B with a 1.25 ZigZag, and they light it up. Over an hour later, after talking nonstop the whole time, the heavy toker looks down at the half joint of dCon B still between his fingers and asks my brother "dude, what are we smoking!? I'm still crazy high!" So they lit it again - and didn't finish it... again. Another hour of talking. The joint is still between the guy's fingers.

Dude's running a whole room of dCon now, the E and the B. Didn't need any more convincing than that one joint.

Cheers, back to my new plasma room

Mr Williams - can you please give us a timeframe for a release of the backcross?

No doubt, there's been many people hoping for an opportunity to get their hands on this, and although unforeseen delays are inherent in any project like this, still, an approximate date would help support our collective Congolese morale. Thanks for sticking with this backcross!!

This run I've got 10 dCon-E's, a single dCon-B for daddy, and 6 Blue Cheese from a club cut. I've sampled the produce from this cut and it was great nighttime medicine with a trippy edge and an enormous 'berry danish' flavor, and the few patients for whom I still grow have all requested a 'sleepy' offering to balance the rocket fuel.

This is my first un-topped SoG grow ever, have always been a perpetual shrub/vertical guy. I think the dCon is going to shine in this configuration due to its habit of holding secondary branches close to the main stem. It allows the plants to be placed relatively close together, and with a little crimping they've achieved this nice tight/tall conical shape. I've had to do some selective defoliation to avoid shading because even on these small plants the dCon throws some of the largest fan leaves I've ever seen indoors. I removed many of the largest ones, and you can see some that I've left but trimmed in half. The blades on the leaf in the lower right corner are still over 2" wide.

I think I can almost hear my empty Mason jars vibrating with anticipation...

dCon-E, Day 22

dCon-E, Day 22

Day 1 of week 4, and things are coming along nicely:

Right now they're getting fed GH Flora series at 8ml Micro/16ml Bloom per G, 2.5ml/G liquid KoolBloom, Budswel high-P organic guano tea (.01-.1-.01) at 7ml/G, Hygrozyme at 50% recommended strength (that shit's expensive!!), and 2.5ml/G liquid potassium silicate. Adjusted to 900ppm, 6.0pH. Tried pushing it to 1000ppm, but the dc-E's started to get a little tip burn. Every other tank I dissolve a healthy chunk of raw piloncillo (panela) sugar in some boiling water and add that.

They're getting thirsty - the whole tent is taking down about 4-5 gallons of nutes a day. Up to 4 daily waterings now. Once a week I run 5 gallons of pH-adjusted plain water through the plants to flush excess salts, then follow up about 30 minutes later with a full-strength feeding. Those little AirPots build up salts quick, the initial runoff tests at over 2000ppm, but it drops to about 650 by the end of the mini-flush.

So far the dc-E looks like it's going to be a kickass SoG plant. The stretch is done, they topped out at 24" and are doing a great job of filling the space allotted to them without encroaching on their neighbors, although this was not accomplished without extensive defoliation/leaf pruning/bending. 5 weeks to go...

My dCon-D male is going to drop his dust any minute now. He's sure taking his sweet time about it. He'll be getting down with the lower branches of 3 individual girls from this round - the smallest dCon-E and the dCon-B for parallel f2 lines, and a Blue Cheese for some BC/DC action. I'm thinking Bay/Bou freebies...

They started packing on the resin all of a sudden around day 25. Even the fan leaves are pumping out the glands. Week 5 is my favorite part of the cycle, the resin glands are young and delicate, and easily wiped off onto a rolling paper. The Soma trick. A little foretaste of what's to come. Soaring high!

My little dCon-D male has finally started to drop pollen. I had him on my fireplace mantle in an 8oz cup under a CFL, moved him to the garage when his flowers started to open. He has some monstrous pods for his size...

Ponde--Great looking plants, and I hope you're able to get some of those seeds to the Bay/Bou. Everything I've read about this cross sounds really interesting!

Nice job, Richard, and I hope you keep making progress on continuing this project.

Here's the single dCon-B I put in the tent. Going to see how well she yields, might have to fill a whole tent with her if she does well enough. I actually prefer her finished product to her sister E, but wasn't too impressed with her overall form/yield as an indoor bush plant. She's definitely going under the Big Halide this year.
