Hate to break it yas, but NASA had diddly-squat to do with the development of cellphones......
Motorola and NASA have a long standing history. To say that NASA technologies had no effect or contribution is less than specious, it's just nonsense.

Jeez...like 1 of the last 10+ posts kind of on topic...lol.what i find interesting is the similarity to the ancient astronaut/Nibiru story,in relation to 2012 supposedly being the end, blah blah blah(I remember 1999) Then here we have the spokesperson saying 2012 is when this study will reveal the interesting stuff, its like it was timed to coincide with all the stories and propechies. Makes sense, I mean theres bound to be people high up in NASA who are believers.

For me I'm like...there's some major chunk of something in space and NASA (Cornell it seems also) is just recognizing it? Jeez...even Shoemaker-Levy found something probably MUCH smaller way out there in space long before that string hit Jupiter and they saw that like 15+ years ago and they were amateurs compared to NASA.
If there really is a brown dwarf star gonna swing through the hood...look out! The density/gravitational pull of an entity like that would be ridiculous compared to a plain ole comet or asteroid. I mean seriously...a cooled off star? Anything is possible. Virtually ALL references to this event are fringe.from the info i saw, the bodies/distance were supposed to be a limits of previous imaging technology
or on the edge, that why this new system has been deployed
but i'd be surprised if there is a brown dwarf(or something like it), maybe something a bit smaller
Man some crazy stuff going on out in the universe for sure. So something at least 15 times the mass of Jupiter is gonna pass close by?Brown dwarfs are objects which have a size between that of a giant planet like Jupiter and that of a small star. In fact, most astronomers would classify any object with between 15 times the mass of Jupiter and 75 times the mass of Jupiter to be a brown dwarf. Given that range of masses, the object would not have been able to sustain the fusion of hydrogen like a regular star; thus, many scientists have dubbed brown dwarfs as "failed stars".

Every Country on Earth should spend Zero on Defense and all its money on Space Exploration. There is no greater human achivement than being able to explore space..
Not investing in space exploration and expansion equates to species suicide in the long run. Since the time frame that this planet will support life is finite. Fact. Try to look beyond the tip of your nose.
I too am all for space exploration....
BUT.....only once we mature as a fucking species and actually learn how to live on THIS fucking planet in a sustainable manner that is viable in the long term.........because otherwise all our space exploration is just shopping around for another planet to shit all over, rape, exploit and leave barren. This is NOT the behavior of a mature, intelligent species that is headed for nor merits long term survival.
Not to mention with the way we are going now, we simply do not have the time to be able to achieve any of significance in terms of colonizing space, because we are trashing our only home way faster than we can escape it.
Seriously....fuck space exploration AND military spending for the next 50 years...put it all into truly sustainable living technology....with emphasis on smarter, simpler lower level tech that lets us actually enjoy life, instead of chasing some malignant parasitic ideal that we have been trained to value, whilst making those who trained us richer and more powerful than anyone should ever be.
Agreed. There is nothing evil about advanced technology. It is what our civilization does with it that devalues life.
You can't tell me nuclear technology isn't evil.
It sure does make cheap electricity but where do we store the evil, I'm sorry, I mean... um... neutral toxic waste?
The first thing we did with it was destroy.... I'm not saying we aren't trying to help ourselves with it now... but it certainly does stand to reason that advanced technology is evil in the hands of those not prepared for it.
Keep a view
Perhaps it would help to clarify "unadvanced advanced technology" or "not advanced ENOUGH technology" could certainly be considered evil, especially in light of humans' development.
Nobody is suprised when DDT is proven harmful.
Nobody cringes when we realize that our water system is full of pharmaceuticals.
Hindsight is 20/20... but most don't give a shit anyway.
Let's plunge headlong into the future and whatever we do we can't admit we make wrong turns left and right!
Evil is just a state of mind.
That nails it.We have for the most part failed to use technology to ease the burden of our lives in terms of the goal of happiness and a good life and have instead aimed everything at productivity and profitability which has hindered us in every regard as a people.
We have the ability to dispose of it but it is costly, thus we don't do it.
Since this thread probably won't stay on topic...there's some major problems with hydrogen power. First is if you make hydrogen from petro sources like coal and burn it you'll end up with planetary oxygen depletion. Hydrogen must be made from water. Then it's the dealio of how much energy 'in' is necessary to crack the water compared to get the potential energy 'out'. I believe there are some smaller solar powered systems that crack water. I don't see hydrogen as a solution to the world's energy problem...at least not at this point in the technology development. We don't use hydrogen power because it's not really practical IMO regardless of cost.We don't use hydrogen power because it is costly, and we still don't do it... even though it doesn't produce toxic waste.
What I'm getting at is the same point you are, we don't have the proper motivation for innovation... and will always make concessions on the side of fatal if the price is right.
We can agree to disagree on whether or not it's evil.
