microbeman - any idea whether I am better off with multiple species of AM? In other words, considering I intend to maintain the living mulch in perpetuity, is it worth my while to source other AM species to apply to my containers?

my mix does have some mineral soil in it, maybe 17% or so

The only benefit to using multiple species is that 1/ researchers have made educated evaluations (also known as guesses) that various species have different roles and infection times, etc.
2/ distributers make more money selling you lots of stuff and you feel all puffed up because your mycorrhizal company has more 'stuff' than Joe Blow's mycorrhizal company. Many companies include Trichoderma species, even though there are some reports of it preventing mycorrhizal infection.

Essentially multiple species makes a great deal of sense if using indigenous fungi [growing your own myc.] but if you are trying to infect cannabis and clover, I'd suggest intraradices and Mosseae.

[some] Commercial hemp growers in Canada use only intraradices.

The best chance of successful infection is when planting seeds or prepping cuttings and planting rooted cuttings.

What is biotone? Is that the biotone plus starter stuff? It has various myc spores does it not? Did you really mean 600 propagules per pound?? That is scant.

I'm hoping it's a misprint! that is scant.

I use bio-tone for all the meals, primarily, not the inoculants. It's my cheap and cheerful fertilizer.

Maybe I should just dig up some healthy looking clover?

Also, will an infected clover spread the infection to cannabis when the roots meet?

here is some clover, a cucurbit volunteer, and an 8 mile high cut that had a couple root hairs showing when I unceremoniously dumped it in this soil.

3 days later (today) at 1:30pm ... I guess this answers the question: will the living mulch compete with my cuttings?

they were out of stock before.

nice growth, eh? it's under LED's and a cfl

Was that the same place your originally mentioned? lolqq. I thought they were only selling it mixed with like 97% grass seed or something. My mind isn't what it once was. And the internet is a big place, I tend to get lost.

Also, nice growth :D

Here's my 2 cents worth!!

Iv'e just added a top dressing of WMC to my small pots with the original thought of maybe adding some more micro's to the soil. What I didn't expect was the following. 1/ I now go longer between watering ( this time of year was usually 4 days, now 6+ ) and have also dropped my humidity from the mid to high 60's down to mid to high 50's. This is in a micro cab and something that I am happy about.

So yea, I say mulch, as I can only see benifits so far!!

Thanks! For scale, the plant marker is still in the soil, at the same depth. It's just totally covered by clover.

I'm amazed I didn't get problems. She had just a few roots poking out when I stuck her in there.

WOW this is really cool. I have always used bark mulch with some blood meal and alfalfa meal mixed in to food the beasties.

thanks pine and o high o. I think it's good, not crazy fast, but I'm happy. It is nice to look at, smell, and touch.

one thing I like about this is I can still throw meals around. I just water them in with a sprayer, and it gets spread nice and even and kept moist.

What do you think would happen if you dressed with something a bit stronger - like blood or guano? I know you don't use this stuff, but I'm curious cause I do (guano at least).
