How much would you pay for a clone?

It really depends on the clone...

I've grown a Bubba Kush backcross before and loved her but lost her..........so $100 for a clone of her would make me ecstatic.

If I could ever score a cut of some high quality block haze, I'd pay a LOT more.

On the other hand, the other guy probably doesn't need to charge $1k or $10k on a clone of Bubba in NY, because, most likely, neither of you could grow enough of it to meet the demand in your own town or city, let alone a 100 mile radius. Because of that, you won't really be a business competitor to him unless you both have the exact same clients.

I know this is off the original topic, but I believe cuttings/beans, etc should be gifted and passed around. I was lucky enough to have been blessed with good friends who have gifted me some wonderful genetics, and I've passed them on when I could.

As far as the original topic is concerned, its basically whatever someone will pay. In openly medical states where dispensaries are all over, clones are easily accessed I don't think it would be reasonable to ask $100 a cutting. There will be other dispensaries offering the genetics for much cheaper most likely. However in states that are not as open as Cali, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone pay $100+ a cut for proven genetics.

I figure, if you want to buy a pack of expensive beans you might pay $150+ (depending on strain/company/etc). Even if you buy an expensive pack, you may not get a great pheno, plant, etc. If you spend $100 for a proven cut then you save $50+ and you don't want to wonder what phenos you might end up getting.

Just my take. :tiphat:

$15 for a Pre-98 Bubba Kush clone .....

$15 for a Pre-98 Bubba Kush clone .....

That's the going rate here in So Cal.

The better clubs have a continuous supply of good clones of many strains.

I know of people having paid up to $5000 for a proven clone of a desired and rare strain.

My god! Believable but it still hurts to read it!

Where I'm from you'd be called mad to ask much more than 10-20, but of course I can see where the 'rarity' factor comes in. rooted AND potbound (4" pots) Blue dream, green crack, queen, and widow clones are all about $10/apiece in my area. IMO anything more than $50 and you should look elsewhere or buy beans. Certainly no strain I'd pay 5 g's for unless it grew golden trichomes or finished in 30 days....

I would pay $5 unless the clone was proven and very rare. Then I would pay up to $20. In a non med state the price is limitless though. I have heard of $20k clones being purchased.

!!!! 20k???!!! that's the current record holder in my books, thank you for sharing! Never paid more than 1/1000'th of that myself I am still in shock at what I just read. Whoever payed that should take it upon themselves to pollute the market with that strain and STOP that vicious cycle. my head is spinning

I'm in NY also .... we pay 25$ for most clones here an elite would go for 50$ . but these are well established clones & there are no signs of bugs or knats . thats 2 different people that i've encountered anyways .... others might be not as caring with what they're selling . these guys make thier living off selling clones . the buds they harvest are for personal use .
me personally....I make clones for three other growers & have never charged a dime .

I see em poppin for 20~30 a piece... but thats of whatever, from whomever.

I'l wholesale at 5~10 a pop, depending upon numbers & consistency, of strains I can attest to or full disclaimers.

But for any & all the elites I have, never once a charge, never once an issue... get in good with good people... can't stress that enough. Most everything I have of worth has come by being good people myself... and very little of that costs money.

Supposedly the strain "Kong" was purchased by Laughing Moon seed company for $40k. I will try to put more instances of extreme prices for clones on here as soon as I find them. I have heard of a few jaw dropping instances. My stoner memory just has to work first.

I remember buying a clone from a dispensary and the guy told me I could grow it out and make $250k selling cuttings of this special Bubba from some lady up north.

Well, about a month in, either this cutting or an OG cutting from another dispensary started spreading PM all over the garden.

Got some other cheap clones for less than $20 and never really expected much from them, so didn't back up well. THEY WERE FREAKING AWESOME. I wish I had paid more for those because then I would have held onto them better... but then I'd never had gotten my hands on them in the first place.

But I feel like I must be missing out somewhere. To spend $100, or $1000, or $10,000 on a clone, I would have to be 100% sure there were no pests, disease, that it was verified to be what the claim was, and then I would have to have plans to move into some mansion in the middle of America or New York and start producing millions of dollars worth of weed.

I don't see one strain being "worth" $10,000 and another being "worth" $10, but like I said I must be missing something.

its not what its worth its what you negotiate

Ive spent 1g+ on a single plant (2 rooted clones/copies).... used that plant (MTF) to "get into the circle" and was then able to trade/acquire a whole nother slew of PROVEN QUALITY genetics. that 1g was a great investment.

Some folks are lucky that they dont have to pay for elite cuts. Some folks aren't lucky enough to be offered an opportunity of ANY kind to acquire truly great plants...

Yeah a lot of mislabeled stuff. Cool to know solid peeps with legit stock.

This. Truth. +1. Church. I also agree.:tiphat:

IMO buying clones is a bad idea. Sometimes necessary, but should be avoided.

80 bucks for a ten pack of great genetics is a much smarter move, than 8 clones, which are probably not what you think they are.

While I am in a legal state and can get pretty much whatever cut I want for real cheap, I'd pay a grand for a legit black rose cut. Seriously.

I would pay $50 max for something awesome like Mothership or HP13. Anymore than that and I will just get seeds and look for a solid pheno.

ive paid 400 for a clone.... well, i bought 20 unrooted @ 20 a pop, and 1 of them lived... honestly, i did not care because it was of a cut of Lemon G which was a cut that I had grown once before and lost it... so my desire to get it back was great... i would have paid 40k for it.... i even told the guy i got it from that i would have paid a lot more... he was happy to sell 20 unrooted cuts for 20 a pop tho... talk about a HUSTLE on his behalf....

ive sold clones for 20 a pop myself tho... i figure i charged 20, then when its finished i get to smoke some good bud! never do i let the person know its from me.... i always tell them its from a close friend who lives down the street... ;) .............

i bought a mystery pack of clones once and they were SOOO mislabled... i ended up finding a cut of Big Bud in the mix and that baby packs on some SERIOUS weight.... the plant that he had labeled big bud was bubble gum, and the bubble gum strain was big bud.... ass backwords, but i figured it out.... its good to own someone else's "commercial strain".....
