Dubi ? About Malawi Fem

I bought a couple packs of your Malawi fem. I was hoping you could give us some back ground info on this line.
What is the history of the line?
What can we expect from these?
How long do they take to finish flowering?
What is the taste and high like?
Thanks for any and all info.

P.S. I am about two weeks from finishing my first Panama grow and these plants are amazing. I started 3 packs and was left with 19 females. I mixed the pollen from all the males then pollenated each fem. I should have lots of good seeds to play with. I will post some pictures before I chop them.

Thanks for all your hard work

I also grabbed a pack, and would definitely like to know the details about this strain. Feeling very fortunate to be around when they were dropped the other night. :tiphat:

Hello Tolkin Bowls,

Malawi line was originally a malawi selection from the 90s, bred outdoors in spain. It came from one of the first ace seeds members, in both clone and seed format. The killer malawi mother is probably the strongest and oldest clone in our collection.

14-15 weeks flowering time, finishing early november outdoors. Flowers are extremely dense and resinous for a pure sativa, ovaries are big, full of huge trichomes. Taste is strong, rude, like resinous oil. High is overpowering, long lasting dense and psychedelic.

Thank you for all the info.

One more question are the seeds from the Killer Malawi selfed or somewhere else in the line

on seedboutique there is information about flowering - 8-10 weeks , based on this, Ive ordered malawi. so its not true :(

Sorry for that Miris, i have never stated that pure malawi had an 8-9week flowering time. It's a pure sativa selected around 37N but she is still a sativa with tropical origins. You can harvest her after 12 weeks of flowering, but the peak of potency and resin production is around 14th week. The wait truely worths.

Another question about Gauwi

Another question about Gauwi

I'm thinking about growing some gauwi indoor soon. My grow space is 1.60 meter high and i wonder if i can start these seeds under 12/12 cycle and get them flowered without touching the bulb ??? Or is it too little space ?

Thanks for info ...

So nobody can answer when they were dropped or if they will be coming back? A simple answer will even work. Take care 1

Thanks for the info. sativa lover! Sounds like them packs got pounced on moving out the door that fast. Hope that they come back in the future as i've always heard stories bout the great Malawi Gold and would love to snag up a pack for future use (can't grow pure Sativas OD within my season so I will have to wait til I get a new place and can set up a room just for sativas). Thanks again and take care 1

Hey Kant C Shyt, I believe dubi mentioned something about a late 2011 release as well.

I lucked out and got 2 packs of the Malawi, they were gone right after I bought mine. I'm willing to bet there was only 500 or so seeds to go around. They went so quickly I couldn't even comprehend it :p

As for Malawi 'Gold', I do believe that's exclusively an Afropips strain. They do a lot with African landrace strains, and I do believe what they're working with is different than Ace's stock. I don't know for sure though, so don't take that as fact.

If you're really looking for the Malawi genetics(aside from going there) I would check out Afropips offerings or just sit tight and wait for Malawi to pop up again late 2011. Oh, and I'm sure you're aware but these seeds are a very limited item, so if you don't get those genes late this year; you may never get them. Would have to talk to dubi/Ace staff to see what's up.

Personally, I'm thinking I'm going to be waiting for PCK to drop again. PCK x Malawi sounds very intriguing!!! Or maybe take a nice purple PCK male to Malawi and backcross it back to Malawi to keep those sativa genes in, but also get the coloring and sturdy stems from the PCK. Anyways, that's a whole 'nother discussion so I'll quit my rambling.

I hope this helps. :)

Sorry for the double post, but after reading a post by dubi on the PCK thread I just had to ask this question:

Are you able to tell us what genes are recessive and which are dominant? I may be interested in breeding this beauty later on, and I was wondering if you could help shed a little light. Particularly interested in things like branch structure, root development, leave size/shape, aroma, things like that.

My last question is; how does the Malawi clone? Does she take forever like other sativas can or does she root readily?

Thanks for any info you can provide :)

You'll find a nice surprise when you receive your 5 packs ;)

I got mine going right now, they're on their second leaf set.

Out of 5 seeds started, 4 completely took off, the 5th would have taken but I didn't want to wait more for it to catch up, so I tossed it. Now I'm left with 4 seemingly uniform seedlings. My method was the cup of water method for 24 hours then into paper towel in ziploc bag and on top of the cable reciever for 3-4 days. Nice taproot came out on all 4 seeds.

You may need to help the husks off the seeds, I had to with 3 of the 4 seeds, but they took off right after I did, revealing nice green cotyledons.

So far I'm pretty content :)
