TEA OF THE DAY

got the new 45 gal trashcan brewer set up today and got 35 gallons brewing as we speak. Early veg I keep it basic and slowly but steadily add more fertilizers to the mix. I have different teas going all season as I keep a perpetual harvest going all year and have plants at all various stages of maturity.
get yourself a little air pump, some air stones (currently using 4" and 8" circular air stones), tubing, and a reservoir.

one of these T splitters comes in handy when you want to add additional air stones, the more bubbles the better!

brewing area

some simple ingredients:
Kelp

various types of bat guano

molasses

I also like using arctic humus, worm castings, and vermicompost.

Tea starting to foam up after 10 minutes, by morning this will be extremely foamy and teaming with life.

The next morning:
extremely foamy and teeming with life as expected! lovely batch of tea for the ladies!

I let the tea sit for 24 hrs before use. I use compost foliar teas twice a week throughout veg.

REMEMBER FOLKS;
ALWAYS wear a mask when working with guanos and other products that have tiny airborne particles, safety first always!

Your brewer looks great, McDank. Why would you let your brew sit? I think you are going to lose some of your aerobic microorganisms if you let it sit that long. Do you really mean that you stop the pumps and just let it sit there? I am curious.

mapinguari I never let the tea sit without bubbles, my fault for not specifying. I let the tea bubble for 24 hrs before use. I usually make batches in morning to noon and use the following morning.

Thanks for joining along Cannido Cowboy looking forward to some pics from your side of the hills!

Thanks McD, for the clarification. Thought that might be what you meant... I've been making teas with my ghetto brewer, it's about a 25-gallon short drum with a trashcan lid on top full of holes. I put a paint strainer with the goodies on top of that, and pump water with a pond pump from the bottom. The water goes through the material in the strainer bag and then streams down through the holes, making the whole surface of the water below dance. (I usually only put 5-10 gallons of water in there so the drops fall farther into less water.) That breaks the surface tension and aerates the water pretty well. How well? That's what I wonder about. Certainly the teas I've made so far have been beneficial, but it's hard to know how much better they could be, especially with the colder temps confounding things. (There is a second hose that sits on the bottom and circulates the water in there.)

Now that temperatures have come up a bit (we're at about 3500' and 40n) it should be clearer whether I can make really good teas this way.

Please excuse the exuberance. Stoked on spring and the Jack the Ripper wake 'n' bake.

I would definitely invest in a pump mapinguari!

Meet the Kush's! all vegging in the greenhouse. On the left we have a bushy Triple Kush, the middle is straight up OG, on the right is a b-e-a-utiful Pure Kush I couldn't help take a few cuttings off of, and in the front left we have a Valley Girl (SFV OG) and on the right a Skywalker OG.

the Pure Kush

These are all my NYC Diesel clones that were taken from the mom earlier in February. Some real good looking clones they'll love the smart pots this summer!

I took a clone of the main branch of the NYC Diesel 2 weeks after I first got her, this is that clone now

quite an impressive stalk on her already

Here's a recently transplanted / moved to the greenhouse Mr. Nice clone, she'll be very bushy by May I took a large clone off of the top of her as well.

got all the soil hauled down to the lower garden area and it's now waiting to be mixed up this weekend. Flyovers have begun already whether or not they are local leo's or fed's is unclear yet, one thing that is clear; they are on top of their game this year!

I cloned a 707 Headband female and also spent some time bending over the tops of some Blue Dream, NYC Diesel and kush clones...

3 tops on this local unknown strain got bent over

here's a very noteworthy Triple Kush clone

this shovel is going to be my best friend this weekend, amendments are still boxed up in original packaging. (not pictured)

roots organics green fields and potting soil, was hoping to have my whole garden be RO soil but due to the amount of bags having fungus gnats last season I did about half and half.

honestly sex I'm not the one to ask last season I only threw out 20 gallon smarties late june but I yielded 3/4 lb in those and they were by far my highest yield out of everything last season. Ganja D, HL, nomaad would have lots of info I'm sure

I'll be taking this shot every month or so to see how things change in the garden, as the planting and final transplants begin I'll add a few more monthly Points Of View shots into the updates from various angles maybe even climb the tallest nearby try and see how that looks!

Still need to get that plastic up on the other hoop house by the end of the month.

did some transplanting today, bd roots

Busy busy, looks like things are on the right track for a proper season :)

Its definitely dirt mixin' and pot fillin' time. Gotta blend up about 5 yards of dirt this upcoming week and get my boxes filled. Yikes, its gonna be busy.

Glad to see your smart pots filled and ready to rock. I am anxious to see em with big trees that are sure to ensue!

I'm wishing I got more soil and more smart pots already, oh well I did what I can with a pretty tight budget. There's always next season!!!

A few Blue Dream shots from sundown..

Beautiful shots. Love how that BD grows!

And yeah budgets suck. This year is our largest yet so we're thankful for that. But we still get to spend every cent on dirt and nutes. Oh well always to a good cause :)

Hey Mc...Can relate to the budget constraints! Went to Homey Depo yesterday to pick up a few last minute parts for a temp "knockdown" greenhouse...$96.00! Why is it ya can put off most everything for house & car but when it comes to the med-grow, if ya gotta have it, ya gotta have it and usually it's right now?? LOL CC
