I am not complaining about being punished.

I am complaining about being told I need treatment when I clearly do not. While in treatment you are not even allowed to use MMJ btw.

So I am told by the courts I have to be assessed and I have to follow the recommendations of the assessment agency. I present a case that I have not had a drink in 3 years and have never smoked marijuana. They have Nothing in front of them that proves otherwise. They say I have a problem and need Intensive Out Patient. It is such a crock of shit.

Whether you hate or love Drunk Drivers, that is just pure bullshit. I am supposed to go along with a program, do skits with these guys, watch horrible videos, tell people my feelings and hug strangers at the end of every session for absolutely no reason. I am supposed to pretend I have a drug or alcohol problem and also pretend to be cured to graduate out of this program.

Why is this agency saying that I need treatment, Intensive Outpatient Treatment? It isn't because I had a drink 3 years ago, it is because they want my money.

For all you do-gooders out there I don't see any justice being served by this element of my punishment.

Why COMPLY? Is it because they threatened to prosecute you? Or you have a parole obligation if you are the bitch in their skits?

These counselors are gods. They have your probation officer's phone number and they talk about you like you are one of their kids. If they think you have a problem they can make you see a judge. And the abuse of this power is very blatant. In my last session the counselor told this guy he was not in the best seat to see this stupid video she was playing. She told him two times to move his seat and by her tone I could tell if she said it a third time it would be accompanied by a threat. These counselors have their way with you. Just the way you answer their personal questions in group sessions makes you feel that you are about to be seeing a judge if your attitude is not to their liking.

I started smoking pot because I am a free thinker. I am not one of the cookie cutter types that just don't smoke it because it is illegal. I have always appreciated the culture and the people that make up our world, but believe it or not, a lot of you truly are sheep. You are told something by those that govern society and take it in hook line and sinker. I have been driving for 30 years and have never caused an accident straight, high or drunk, never. When I was checked at that random holiday check point I was not falling out of car.

"Screw" that is the term for prison guards is it not? I believe a lot on this board including myself are guilty of being sheep.

I did nothing to stop this immoral expansion of police power. All I do now is spout off about the evils it creates.

Your holiday stop makes me sick to my stomach the same way INTERNMENT of US Citizens during WWII turns my stomach. Those that would sell out your rights at a moments notice when "The Safety of Children" is mentioned are the sheep you speak of.

If you got behind the wheel after drinking you need treatment. If you dont believe so then you truly have a problem. A responsible human being doesnt get behind the wheel after drinking. If you dont realize that then its just the reason you need treatment. Now quit whining to the world about it and step up and just do it. Its obvious you dont feel like you did anything wrong or you wouldnt have started this thread.... that sir is the exact reason you need treatment.

not complaining about being punished either, i just think its foul that they make you go through this no matter what, drug addict or not,it's just to squeeze money out of you.i only smoke pot, nothing else & i don't drive either and i quit smoking when my probation started.my first class the counselor went over my "treatment plan" with me,3 steps that were all about coming to terms with my substance abuse.i told him they don't apply to me as i don't use. he asked me what my charge was,i told him,he asked why i did it,i told him to pay the rent because the only other option at the time was to take my kids to a shelter. he then advised me that my addiction is money. apparently you are a money addict if you are willing to do what you have to to keep a roof over your family's heads.

designer, I could give a rats ass about your misfortunes because one night back in thw 80's my 4 cousins went to go see a movie and was driving home in Phoenix Az when stopped at a stop sign they ( 4 girls ranging in ages from 14 to 19 ) proceeded to go and a drunk driver was going the police records say around 96 mph and hit them on the left side caving in the entire car to wear the responce team couldn't determine who was driving the car and they all died of mulitple trama to the body and now theirs 4 white crosses at that Intersection...

No respect here from any one who cries that they did their time and paid K's of cash and had to do community service while my aunties and their familia's myself Included were and will always be without them and they never knew what hit them...

The dude's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was .188 equivelant to 10 drinks and walked away with a few broken ribs, wrist and cuts to his face from the windshield...

My 4 cousins had to have closed coffins..

Remember when anyone gets in their ride it may change the course of your life and others when you drink and drive...

How does that saying go? Admitting it is the first step?

Being in the system is fvcked up, no doubt, but as adults we all know what the risks are for our actions.

You're either wrong and culpable, or justified in your actions...there is no in between.

Hard times brother...let's hope the worst is behind us :ying:

Wow so many agree with the counseling agency. I am sold now. The fact that they tie MMJ use with alcohol use notwithstanding. These guys are right on the mark. Thanks everyone.

Its more or less an inconvenience to get you to never want to be in that position again. Take it with a grain of salt and move on and be smarter next time.

FWIW i decieved all my counselors even in the face to face sessions. i went stoned every time but didnt drink till after classes as they randomly tested folks for booze. i was told i was ok but in danger of becoming an alcoholic. i have been an alcoholic since i was 16 but a highly functioning one. i only went to one aa meeting and it was so boring i never went back and forged the signatures saying i was there.got my certificate of completion and got my liscense back. this was quite a few years ago. it took me 6 months to finish all my classes and meetings as i kept missing classes. i reccomend not doing like i did as they fined me each time and added classes. i did learn my lesson tho . dont ever drink and drive. 1 dont know what i was thinking driving drunk and i am glad i never hurt anyone

That guy should have been sent away for life, murder 2. Same thing if he had a BAC of .0000

The laws against drunk driving, running stop signs, and speeding did not stop that guy from getting behind the wheel. No amount of counseling, AA, or prison can bring back your loved ones.

Driving drunk is wrong, but that does not mean the system of treating everyone like murderers or mental patients is correct. Does the guy with a roach in his ashtray really need months of skits and group sessions?

There is a SHIT ton of drunk driving that goes on in "The Trailer Park Boys." With your personal experience it must be a little upsetting to see the main characters constantly drive drunk (drink in hand often) with NO punishment or sense of wrong doing.

1982 60% of all fatalities on the road were alcohol related. In 2008 only 37% of deaths were alcohol related. The trend is in the right direction and slowly improving. I think the bulk of this decline can be credited to MADD changing societal opinions. This is not a problem that America can arrest and counsel its way out of.

Hey man, I was in no way endorsing the 'legal' side of 'social services', or their methodology.

My point was YOU fvcked up, you stepped into THEIR world.

I guess i'm just having a hard time connecting the dots from someone getting a DUI and how that somehow ties cannabis use into a system, that is screwed, along with it.

seems to me it would be easier/cheaper to get a new identity...I think that's the route I'd go if I got wrapped up in the system. There's no way I'd be able to sit through one of those meetings without flipping out.

Thank you... I have 36 of those meetings. If all goes well I have 33 left to go. Maybe I need to get something I can check them all off, like guys in jail do.

You don't want to sit there and tell a bunch of strangers your feelings and pretend to support a system you don't? You don't want to be forced to form a circle with your arms around other people saying some kind of prayer?

I am not religious and in person I am a very private person. I don't enjoy touching a bunch of drug addicts. Hell, even that sort of hot one has so much baggage that even I don't think she is worth it. I have had my run with chicks that play with drugs and it is too much drama and emotion for me.

Just counting the days.

Before I was caught I looked into changing my ID btw. Man that is not an easy thing to do if you still want to work and be part of the system. You can keep two IDs, your first one and second for just driving.. but you cannot tell Anyone. Kind of impossible unless you are facing years in lockup.

In hindsight I believe in my heart of hearts that booze is as bad as all the powders and rocks out there. I know that heroin will make you physically sick when you quit it and have personally witnessed a lot of that lately. But when I was boozing I was thirsty for booze and couldn't stop. I am not doing that now and have not had a drink in a long time. A lot of addiction is personality, or predisposition and I have that. For some reason I was able to stay on the fringes of hard drug use growing up and never developed a habit with those. I never really had a bad habit with weed either, but there were times that I couldn't stay away from it. Right now I am as sober as a judge. I get with my girl friend and she is constantly smoking or something all the time and I am not even tempted. I remember the times of laying in bed with her for hours on a hash high and both of us laughing uncontrollably. I want to get back to that, but I Have some work to do first.
