well when you invent a time machine we'll go back and see phish in the 90s. it's 2011 now. go see some fuckin shows and love it or shut the fuck up.

or I can just go see the Disco Biscuits if I have that craving for mind-bending improvisational music. they're not everyone's bag and haven't really been playing many shows this year but i'd much rather see them than the phish.

most people hate on the Biscuits and their "scene" but I don't give I flying fuck about any of that scene bullshit. i just saw indobox last friday. they put on a better show than Phish could pull off these days for a fifth of the price. then we got to hang with them afterward. they're nice guys. i'm glad you still have fun at phish shows but i'm more into seeing bands in their prime. to each his own.

looks like I just PT'd IC. sorry, guys I get passionate about music.

you guys are chesters. disco biscuits are boring and 1 dimensional. period. and I like jamtronica. just not disco biscuits or umphreys and even sts9 sucks now. I'll listen to Marc Brownstein play other band's music on Jam On on the weekends. If he plays his own music I turn it off.

In 10 years, you'll still be whining, but it will be about how bisco shows aren't how they used to be. you're just one of those too cool for school debbie downers that will analyze any song from any set and point out why it's not as good as that one time in '97.

be here now.

Here is the point.

It is 2011, not 15 years ago. All bands go through stages.

Also, a completely chill show for me, could be mind numbingly boring for the next person.

However, I have never seen them bust into to Killing in the Name Of! Place was going insane! Can't wait!

I am also the type person who just gets excited to see Phish. No one cares if they had better shows in the 90s, no one cares if you like " " more, and no one cares if you don't like the scene. IMO it's hard to spend 60 bucks in a better way.

I could care less about the scene too. That being said IMO furthur has the grimiest scene hands down.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect most, but if you think indobox is better than phish you're out of your fucking mind, I don't care what anyone says. That's some straight up hipster bullshit. Get real dude, go listen to some shows from phish's fall tour last year.

If the biscuits were anywhere close to their prime I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be getting a bunch of shitty conspiritor shows right now. Barber is a mess. I saw them in hartford about this time last year after he broke his wrist and the dude was so drunk he couldn't even stand up. Dude was literally laying down on the stage singing portal, shit was pretty funny but kinda pathetic. The papermill island and jersey shows later that I went too were much better, but still I don't think I could've put myself through one of them sober.... I like the biscuits, but it comes down to this: I go to phish because I love the music, I go to bisco just to party... The biscuits have no substance and every song peaks exactly the same... I'll still go to the shows because they are fun, but that's about the only reason honestly...

agreed. i saw some depressing shit at furthur shows the last two years. that being said, furthur in broomfield last month was a treat. great scene, beautiful girls. worlds of difference from seeing furthur in the midwest or east coast.

oh yeah, and since this is the phish head thread. watkins-glenn and possibly leg two of summer are being announced today.

Oh for sure man. I haven't been going to many shows this spring, but I caught one of their boston shows a couple weeks ago at the orpheum. I was expecting a fun time and they blew my expectations out of the water. Awesome show start to finish! So long as the music is good I'm a happy man.

yes, please don't PT ICMAG. The PT Bisco board is as trashy as the Insane Clown Posse message board. Nothing but a bunch of bitter uptight fanboy kids talking shit

With that said, I love tDB. But, to say they are in their prime is a joke. Conspirator is in their prime, and Barber is nothing more than a mess on Jameson whiskey these days. His guitar playing is sloppy at best, and he would rather play dubstep than his guitar. If it weren't for Allen Aucoin, that band would probably be DONE

Phish on the other hand can still cater to people like me who freak out when they play What's the Use, or the fratboys who high-five eachother to the opening riffs to Sample in a Jar :blowbubbles:

Either I am getting old, or I agree with Marn and Mcattak. I've seen them many times since they returned and the music is lacking and I want to kill 75% of the fans at the shows. I actually got puked on at Albany 11/28/09 by some kholed teeny bopper and it wasn't pretty. Such amateurs these days. At the same Albany show I got booted on they played the best music I have seen since their return in Seven Below->Ghost. So, it hasn't all been bland, just most of it.

Your the chester bro...What ever that is...

Not whining just calling you out....Dead 70' and 80' > Dead 90' (after Brent died) ... Phish 90' > Phish 00'

Just how life is bands change have family's get sober and there music changes...

How does anyone go see the dead minus Jerry...Blasphemy...

yeah, jerry was the whole band, no one else had anything else to contribute. they were all amateurs. jerry just needed a mediocre backing band for 30 years.

the music didn't disappear when jerry died, and it was a collaborative effort the entire time. remaining members still passionately expand on and explore the music they helped create. jerry would hate you if he knew you refused to go see his brothers play their music just because he isn't around.

My last phish show was Cypress but man have I been torrenting as much of 2010 as possible. A lot of good stuff. Seems to be more of 4 awesome dudes jamming rather than eddie van halen with a backup band (not that there's anything wrong with finger hammering!)

So my experience was about 56 shows between 4/94 and 12/99. Time for me to get a new pair of overalls and get to at least one show this year. Will it be the same as summer/fall '97? No, of course not. But that is alright with me.

Time for a shower, I'll cue up buried alive, cookie for the show reference! :rasta:

I think it's the green board that is the wasteland. Other than a few knowledgeable, older posters that place is noob central. But I do take pride in the ICP comparison. I love social groups like that strictly from a satirical standpoint. There are some freaks of nature to be found at places like Phish/Biscuits/Further shows or Gathering of the Juggalos. Fascinating stuff.

As far as the Biscuits' music goes they're extremely inconsistent, i'll give you that. They're are a streaky band. Some years(99-01, 07, 09) they play a ton of stellar show. Other years(04-06,08,10) they either don't play many show or the show they play are mediocre.

You're right though, it all depends on Barber. If he's not drunk and into playing his guitar like he is capable of then the Biscuits are as good of a band as any as far as improving techno music with a live band. Other 'jamtronica' bands can't really do what they do. The Biscuits partially invented the genre. STS9 doesn't even jam anymore and i'm just not into lotus or any of that shit. Comparing Phish and the Biscuits doesn't really make sense. They're different bands now that Phish doesn't focus on jamming and the Biscuits are focus on making party music. I listen to very few jambands and mostly DJs, I guess that's why I prefer tDB.

Marn's incoherent ramblings and tangents have been brought to you by bongloads of trainwreck. Cheers for live music. :dance013:

cant wait for leg 2 to be announced!

i agree its not 1997 anymore but i have high hopes for this summer doing the whole first leg so im pretty excited.. to be honest getting away for a month is way better than sitting in my boring town....

IMO they have been getting better every show for the most part see you on tour! :D
