Feds Threaten State Dispensaries Nationwide

This is terrible news but nobody is really suprised right? That is why we are fighting because it's not easy, we win a few and get some laws passed on our side. At some point they realize it's hitting them in the pocket, they see rainbows leading to a pot of gold in every dispensary, play a trump card and take the winnings.

This is bad news for dispensaries but not for the smaller grow ops. I see an ugly 2011 for dispensaries, they will hit the big players first and work on down to the larf at which point they will see diminishing returns and crawl back under their rocks.

This will temporarily stop the falling price of buds and give the smaller growers a boost, ebb and flow of the market, we are making history here...

The majority of us are small time growers in the fed picture especially if plant counts are kept under 100. I won't be sogging for a good while, these are times to lay low and see where the smoke starts coming from.

Edit: If I owned a successful dispensary, I would start burying treasure if you know what I mean...

Medicinal and recreational marijuana are the exact same.

The line you are trying to draw shouldn't be there in the first place.

It seems tie dyes are not welcomed in our own culture anymore....

You can't be a bigot and expect the world to be any different.
Mustard, don't get me wrong bro. I'm not trying to be a douchebag about MMJ.
I think the prohibition is ridiculous and wish that it wasn't MMJ vs recreational at all.
The reality is that marijuana has been blacklisted for so long and in such an unreasonable capacity, that ANY movement forward is good.
So naturally upon seeing people's pseudo-acceptance of MMJ it would be good to take slow, cautious steps that ensure practical and irreversible changes that related to decriminalization/legalization.

I don't dislike hippies, hell people would have thought I was one years back with my hair down to the middle of my back.

The problem is that the stereotype is associated with images and activities that most folk would not feel is in alignment with serious medication.

Putting anyone that looks like they're on Dead tour up as the poster child for medicine is dubious at best and the same as shooting yourself in the foot.

This is the argument posited by anyone against MMJ.

If you asked me if we'd have this level of acceptance and favorable reaction towards MMJ 20 years ago I'd have said you were crazy. Now we've got like 14ish states that have regulations relating to MMJ. Whether you like those regs or not, they're better than whatever was in place prior to that.

It's not legalization, nor is it decriminalization....but it's an admonition that marijuana has some beneficial impact upon patient outcomes. You can't beat that with a stick no matter what side of the fence you're on.

Ultimately I'd like to see complete and total acceptance of marijuana in the same manner you find alcohol. That wouldn't happen and couldn't happen without the slow and steady beat of the drum from the MMJ supporters. It's clearly changing the way that everyone views this plant.

So, take it anyway you want. I'm no enemy of legalization. I just feel there are realistic ways to go about things....and there are ways that will ultimately make things slower, harder and more impassable.

You say that using a tour rat as a poster child is dubious and compare it to shooting our movement in the foot.

I say that anyone can be that poster child, and limiting who should be there is shooting ourselves in the foot.

Medical marijuana is nothing more than state sanctioned extortion.
When you look at the facts there is nothing legal or constitutional about its prohibition.
It exists because not enough people exist that are strong enough to call bullshit on this.
These state initiatives will never work because they allow for one party to profit over the weakness of others. FUCK every doctor that has every profited from writing a rec!
Think about like this. Up until not long ago and in many places right now a person would be harassed and probably jailed for being homosexual. They would do this using laws against sodomy and other such harassment. I am not gay but if I were I would not see any difference in paying another person for the right to smoke pot. Then I would getting a homo permit. FUCK every traitor cop that thinks they are just doing there job.
SuperFUCK every motherfucker in DC.
If you own a dispensary and have paid one cent in federal taxes the second amendment allows you to blow those ass-holes away. Plain and simple.
We don't have to fight for these rights someone already has. We just have to have the nuts to utilize them.

Seems to me that everyone is upset cause the gov lied to us. It's time to grow the fuck up. If people want the laws changed then it will be done on a state by state level, just like prohibition was repealed back in the 30's. It was the state by state action then that cause the end of prohibition.

So what's the answer, VOTE GET INVOLVED, call your congress person and Senator. Email and call the White house, you can leave comments and talk to a live person when you do it. Tell your elected reps, how you will vote.. for or against them depending on their stand.
Just bitching on the icmag is good for the soul, but bitching at the politicians is better for the brain.

So what I'm saying is get involved, vote be active, also when calling your elected officials and the white house, remember to be respectful and polite as you get more bees with honey than with vinegar and polite people get listened to more.
If your not willing to get involved to change the system then don't BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!:2cents::smoweed:

THIS is the ONLY true way to get any real change, whining on a pot internet site ain't going to change shit for you/us, get active locally AND Federally, VOTE (here that)------------> VOTE every election, support candidates that support YOUR opinion, get new initiatives on YOUR ballot, MAKE A CHANGE .... and quit the fuk whining.

Get Politically engaged.

Get Politically engaged.

O.K. folks its time to become politically active, if you already are then GOOD for you. Did you know you can call the White house and actually talk to a live person. You can call the Whitehouse comment line talk to a person and voice your opinion. 202-456-1111.
Just remember that you should be polite, concise, no long rambling rants to the comment taker, they didn't make the laws. Be polite and make your comment. Then email or write the White house, and your Congressional rep and Senators. And lastly GET OUT AND VOTE.
Look at Wisconsin, a lack of voters opened the door for what,s happening there and everywhere else around the country. The other side counts on voter apathy to win, and it worked the last election. *******WHITE HOUSE COMMENT LINE 202-456-1111********MON-THRU FRI.
MY RANT, I OWN IT..........
AND REMEMBER TO ALWAYS:smoweed:

What's ironic to me, is that the Feds are coming to the rescue of the small time growers. They must have figured we were getting the short end of the stick, so they are trying to help us all out, by bringing prices in the marketplace back up to 1990's prices.
Now it's official, then. The Feds and small time growers working hand in hand, to keep the business booming!

I see you spouting platitudes from Across the Universe and understand where you're coming from. Here's what I'm trying to say since a picture is worth at least a few words:
hippie.jpg

Nothing wrong with that dude above, hell I would burn more than a few with that cat and chill for awhile. But he really doesn't invoke a sense of professional, clinical and therapeutic benefit in a drug.
Would you take him seriously if he were strolling on the beach talking about how "Cymbalta" or "Lipitor" worked for him. The answer is pretty self evident: NO (unless you were on some acid trip). If he were advertising patchouli or incense I'd say the advert would be appropo.

You want everyone to represent the benefits of marijuana and we share the same dream. I just think we'll get there faster if people that do not fit a certain stereotype confuse the argument and push us back into a Nixon-like frenzy of anti-drug criticism. That's all I was ever saying....but I get the distinct impression that you like to lock horns with people over views like that.

I'm not going to hit you with some high-pressure hoses and let the dogs out to get you at some rally bro......I'm not behind some police shield shooting tear-gas at ya'. Maybe it's time to expand your mind a smidgeon more to see what I'm saying. You've got a very "us"
against "them" attitude.....and I'm not "them" bro.

It is you who is presenting the us and them mentality.

This is the very reason our culture is falling apart.

You're damn right I take issue with people who say that hiding "certain stereotypes" from view will help us.

If you can point out any reason besides bigotry that would suggest we have a white middleaged doctor walking down the beach in bare feet to symbolize "anyone" I'd love to hear it.

Everywhere I look anymore there is a hugely xenophobic community where potheads used to be.

I'm getting physically sick of your mentality.

Ok man, you got it all figured out. You've made up your mind and it's closed to all other possibilities that conflict with your pre-arranged idea of how the world should work.
If you read anything I wrote carefully at all....you'd see I want to have it all......total and complete legalization so everyone, everywhere could enjoy what they'd like. You can do that the easy way or the hard way.....your choice.
Had it not been for the MMJ movement, there'd never be any possibility of that happening. Since the MMJ movement is predicated on sick people needing medicine.....it's counter-productive to introduce counter-culture agendas. If you don't get that, it's impossible to discuss the matter futher in a meaningful way. BTW: Glad you're very tolerant of my ideas. Seems like tolerance should be a two way street, but maybe you have other definitions I've not encountered.

I see no reason in lying any further.

Marijuana is medicine... it's also fun to smoke when you're not ill.

The reason we have a problem promoting grass as a drug is because hippies already let the cat out of the bag: It's a plant.

Good luck covering that up.

Mustard: I can't point out an additional reason because that's the most salient one. You're dealing with individuals that view people in a particular way. You want them to not be bigots, but I believe that's less likely to happen.
I don't want to change people's minds. I just want to change policies. There's a difference. There's also a way to go about changing people's minds that is more subtle, tactful and effective.
Getting up in their face may work sometimes, but ultimately there may be more effective mechanisms for creating change.

I do see you've got to get your point across that everyone must like everyone else and accept everyone for who they are. That people shouldn't be restricted or confined to any particular path, or purpose.

I think that's a long way off brother. I think that marijuana being available to everyone is a bit closer than your ultimate goal. I'd like to have that happen in an accelerated way. You'd like to have your cake and eat it too. I'd be happy just having a cake right now.

But I'll invite you to continue to preach your point to the choir.

Seems like all the folk that are free-lovin got lots o' hate to vent. ;)

Got none on this end for anyone.

A great number of patients really in all reality just get a card because they already smoked weed and all you have to do is go to a doctor and you can do it legaly. Now these same people scoff at paying what they used to for their pot because the are "sick" bullshit your still just a pot head like me and pot should cost the same. Now for the people who are really sick well meds are never cheap. If you want cheap meds use something that your insurance will pay for. For some of us this is a full time job. I help my patients out alot and after I do that I make my money selling to the dispensaries. Your best bet if you want cheap meds really is to find a cool caregiver. As long as the dispensary gives me my price I dont care what they charge the patient. Its not robbery its buisness. If you have a product you want to sell most people mark up the price as high as they think people will pay.

That's a pretty narrow viewpoint to have, imvho.

Wow. Perhaps you haven't been noticing -- the economy is in the toilet, real unemployment (U6) is nearly 25%, and over 45 million USA citizens don't have health insurance. And a lot of the medications that they cannot afford to buy could be replaced by a plant they could grow in their garden, if they had one or even a roof over their heads. No doubt it's all their fault, right?

Not to doubt your wide streak of humanitarianism or anything, but you sound vaguely "conservative" Republican -- "I got mine, and I got yours (at my price). So, go fuck off!"

No doubt that was not the impression you were actually trying to convey ... :)

The Justice Department's long-running tobacco case dates back to 1999, when the Clinton administration alleged that nine tobacco companies and two related trade associations engaged in a 50-year conspiracy to deceive the public about the dangers of smoking. A nine-month trial took place in 2005.
