listen to your girlfriend, get a 600, and learn how to get the most out of it. dont let it be an issue between you - if she is paying the bills then its fair enough.

The only people I know who use 600 's have 2 or 3 going at at time in the appropriate area. True the watts to lumens thing show a 600 to be more efficient ,but the time I saw 600w over a 4x4 or 5x5 area it looked really weak. That grower moved up to a 1k and is much happier. 600's if your gonna get another afte ra grow or 2 othetwise 1k all the way
Well she is actually the bill payer of the house as I am currently unemployed..
So she has a say in this of course..
And even if I was buying this with my money, I'd still care about what she says.

Also the bulbs for a 1kw can be had for less and are more plentiful than 600w'ers.
Haven't read of too many people going to a 600w after they have been running 1kw.
But, depending on what your electricity situation is, availability of 230v, you may want to get the 600. A 1kw will definately need a/c in the summer, whereas a 600w won't.
I say get the 1kw and don't look back, tell her the bulbs are cheaper.

Get the light that best suits your needs. Don't get the 1k just because it's more light. Standard is 50watts per sq/ft, anything above that is usually overkill unless you've dialed in your grow and everything else is absolutely perfect. Sometimes less is more. Regardless of which light you end up purchasing, stay safe!
Here's the reasons:
-Cost is relatively the same for almost 2x as much watts, which means almost 2x much harvest.
-A 600w puts off enough heat that your probably gonna have to spend the money to cool the light anyways, so you might as well get the 1000w
-IF you take the total cost of your grow with electricity included, I assure you the junp from 600w-1000w in total grow cost will be less than 10% in even a bare bones grow.
From the first harvest on you will be getting 66% more product if you get the 1000w, which willoffset the additional cost in the first harvest if you do well.....

I don't care if she is paying all the bills, that doesn't mean she gets to call all the shots, that's not a healthy relationship.
Get the light you want, when it's time to paint the bathroom, let her pick out the color.
How about: If you get the 1000 watt, you won't have to grow as many crops per year to achieve the same targets, which means that you can shut down the grow occasionally, for trips away etc.
Of course, you don't have to actually follow through on this "less crops" bullshit, but it should get you the light.
