Hahaha!!! You picked it up in person, decided (for some odd reason) not to look at it, so you just hand over your cash and bail--
End of Transaction...sorry--:tiphat:
Dude...it is a book you can buy new for 16 bucks on Amazon...it is not like a first edition Steinbeck or something....I get that you think she lied to you, but you had the chance to inspect it, and didn't-- If you are so anal about it, why would you not take a look in the bag first??

Longearedfriend, you just reminded me of how one of my Calvin and Hobbes books was creased when a guest carelessly and dickishly dropped it to my floor. I'll be bursting awake in a murderous rage at 3am for the next week. Thanks.

Also, more crimes are gotten away with than not. Whether a book swindling or a vandalized car/home.

I see it like this, If this is your biggest problem in life right now, your golden my friend. Take a deep breath, look in the mirror and say How am I so lucky that life is truly this good. Then call this poor girl and tell her you were just joking and see if you can take her out. Go have some fun, life is too short to be upset about these kind of things. Peace, pot and karma. and btw, this is certainly a case where you should've judged a book by its cover.......

I hear you Bro, I collect books too, and condition is important to me, often times I have two copies, one for reading, and another one for the collection that I try to get, and keep in the best possible shape, so I don't even read it, that's what the second copy is for.

why would you EVER buy something before inspecting it?

she has no reason to give you your money back. its your fault you took someones word about the condition of the book, and didn't take the time to inspect it yourself. cut the loss and learn your lesson. a crease in the book does not make a book unreadable. its your fault. sorry. you lost 15 bucks (after haggling her down) and your repulsed? its 15 dollars. not a lot of money. i know it sucks to lose money but come-the-fuck-on.
next time don't be such a stingy bastard and buy the book new if it has to be perfect. if not shut up. you bought something USED! anything USED is going have one defect or another. i love used stuff but i put my expectations in place.

it's a principles thing
inspecting something before buying it.... its a common sense thing

A serious collector of books is a bibliophile,I know a couple of them. Collecting paperbacks, and obsessing over them borders on being a book rat.
This thread reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with George's dad collecting tv guide, but the show had a Roker cameo.

yes I know mr I like to throw it back in people's face
(after so many people have told me the same)

I definitively realized that on my own

I follow the, don't do to others what you wouldn't like to be done to you, so yeah..

like I said earlier
I learned my lesson
