Grow Room Door Lock

Have people over that are nosey? Do they like to open doors? Saw this today & thought about all my fellow growers. Don't need to carry around keys either....................

Wow that lock is just terrible and very overpriced
I have finger reader on my door lock and it only cost me $75cdn. and its stealth, cant even see the reader.

There are tons of better ones then that... thats gotta be the worst one.

Any suggestions for locking up doors on old houses with skeleton keys? It's a historic house and I'd rather not have to drill into the door or wall. Any people residing in older houses...and how do you lock your doors?

I took the outer plates off mine(old door) and there was a big box mechanism for the lock, I took that out and used the empty space to install a deadbolt and put the plates back on, I'm sure Bob Villa would not approve of the workmanship, but it functions, and I didn't have to drill the door at all, not sure if this will work for you, but it's what I did.

Thanks for the information Telly. It looks like just a few screws and I can take the whole door handle off. Maybe I can Bob Villa a nice little lock into it.

Tried to find the one I have on the homedepot site but they have a slightly different one now. And they jacked up the prices on the stealth ones.. go figure!

So heres a link to the full product page. But "how" does thing work? How does the magnet power on and off?

You would need a power supply and an on/off switch.
You could get fancy with the switch, like a book on a bookshelf you pull. Or a remote car door opener could probably be linked in somehow.
For added security you could even have backup battery power in case power was cut to try to gain access.


It's 12v, so it's pretty easy and fairly safe to work with. Just don't have your fingers between the two plates when you power up.

How do you control yours? If this were being incorporated to an outside door for example, a swith somewhere wouldn't be a good idea, but I don't like the idea of an opener either.

By the way that stealth entrance is awesome... Do you have more pics?
