A question about ph

Ive got a plant in day 21 of 12/12. using FFOF soil. My water going in is 7.2, run off is 5.9. What do i need to do to get the ph back up to 6.8. I flushed with FF sledge hammer. Didnt make a differance, still comes out 5.9. The plant is not showing any sign of deficiencies, yet. would like to try to get the ph back to 6.8 so i dont have problems later. Thanks for any help.:thank you:

How much baking soda to a gal. of water.
Or does anyone else think some thing else would work.
Ive read you dont want to put soda in because of the salt.
Is that right?

ye,i think use lime is the better way,but u are already put the soil in pot,how can u out the soil and add lime?

i'm talking about baking soda(NaHCO3) not soda(Na2CO3),before i use a gram to one liter water, just test the water, when u added baking soda to water, PH up to 7.8-8.2,that mean enough, then feed ur plants two or three times, after that, retest the soil.

I am waiting for your good news!
goodluck bro,u should post some pics here.

don't put baking soda on your plants! might change the ph but there are better ways. what are you feeding them? Na is sodium no matter what it is in.

If you have room in your pots you could mix some dolomite lime with the soil mixture and add to the top of the pots. If you don't have enough room you could top dress with the dolomite and water in.

Like Greenmatter said DON'T use baking soda! Some people have and seen no ill effects but do you really want to feed your plants salt?

Ive heard that dolomite lime, takes up to 6 months to work.
Ive only got 6 or so weeks left, at most. Think ill just try the baking soda, sounds like the fastest way. Its my first grow, bag seed, so i think ill just see what happens. Ill see about posting pics later, cant take any right now, it is the dark time for her. After this grow im going to start my 2nd grow. Not sure what im going to grow next.
I have Nirvana Chrystal- not femed, royal hash- not femed, New york power diesel- fem, Eva seeds Veneno- femed, and Tnt kush -femed, Green house seeds lemon skunk- femed, barneys farm tangerine dream -femed, magus genetics Warlock- femed. Just not sure which one to pick. :gday:

Dolomite begins to work immediately to buffer PH. to get the full benefits i.e. the calcium and magnesium can take up to 6 months.

Sodium bicarbonate or sodium hydrogen carbonate is the chemical compound with the formula NaHCO3. Sodium bicarbonate is a white solid that is crystalline but often appears as a fine powder. It has a slightly salty, alkaline taste resembling that of washing soda (sodium carbonate). It is a component of the mineral natron and is found dissolved in many mineral springs. The natural mineral form, nahcolite, is found in dissolved form in bile, where it serves to neutralize the acidity of the hydrochloric acid produced by the stomach, and is excreted into the duodenum of the small intestine via the bile duct. It is also produced artificially.
Since it has long been known and is widely used, the salt has many related names such as baking soda, bread soda, cooking soda, bicarbonate of soda. Colloquially, its name is shortened to sodium bicarb, bicarb soda, or simply bicarb. The word saleratus, from Latin sal æratus meaning "aerated salt", was widely used in the 19th century for both sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate. The term has now fallen out of common usage

OK, how many times do you see crap to NOT use on your plants in that article?

You can also use a smaller amount of Hydrated Lime which will work faster, also more water soluble.

it takes 6 months for the Ca and Mg to become available to the plant but the lime buffers Ph right away.

Your PH depends on which medium you're using. i.e. peat moss, coco, rockwool, or rock.

Some say the PH is the average of the two number you gave us. i.e. (7.2+5.9)/2 = 6.5

Sounds perfect to me; especially if your plants are telling you so. I would'nt worry about increasing the PH because you could lockout phosphorous and other critical minerals. I would eventually try to lower it to get access to MORE phosphorous.

If you see no problem leave them alone. But if you must do something mix the dolomite in your water and simply water.

Ok so i opened up the tent, have 3 leaves that dont look to good, about half way down the plant, i think most of the damage was done to them the first time i screwed up, but other than that it looks ok. Watered it with 7.2 ph nutients, tiger bloom. What do you guys think.

Thanks for that info.

Thanks, everyone for the opinions, made it easier for me to just let it go, and see how it turns out. If it starts to show signs it needs something ill raise the ph then.:thank you:

5.9 is perfect for a soiless medium. I'm glad to hear your going to let them go.

FFOF medium is already PH balanced and doesn't need much adjustment.
