Yes Nichiren was a Badass Rebel With An Original Cause and I AM BADASS TOO!

Yes Nichiren was a Badass Rebel With An Original Cause and I AM BADASS TOO!

I cashed in tons of daimoku (Nam-myoho-renge-kyo) today and ended up in a great position!!!! Wow the day was warmer, the gratitude for the Gohonzon's unlimited mercy right now is close or at an all-time high for me right now. I got a new job and things are looking up!!!! YES INDEED!!! The people testing my patience lately where none other than manifestations of the 3 obstacles and the 4 devils. I beat them all and asserted my Buddhahood - NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO!!!!

I read this Gosho during the last hours of anxiety while I waited for the background check to bring up the inevitable MJ mishaps and sure enough I disclosed the truth before the results came in and the truth set me freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Here is the Gosho quote:

Even though one may encounter a wise teacher and the true sutra and thereby embrace the correct teaching, when one resolves to break free from the sufferings of birth and death and attain Buddhahood, one will inevitably encounter seven grave matters known as the three obstacles and four devils, just as surely as a shadow follows the body and clouds accompany rain. Even if you should manage to overcome the first six, if you are defeated by the seventh, you will not be able to become a Buddha.
Letter to Misawa
The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, page 894

And look at todays...
No matter how humble a person may be, if his wisdom is the least bit greater than yours, you should ask him about the meaning of the sutra. But the people in this evil age are so arrogant, prejudiced, and attached to fame and profit that they are afraid that, should they become the disciple of a humble person or try to learn something from him, they will be looked down upon by others. They never rid themselves of this wrong attitude, so they seem to be destined for the evil paths.
The Fourteen Slanders
The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, page 757

You see! Arrogance, Fear, Anger and shadiness will keep many from attaining Buddhahood!! If you're ever approached by me and I know you understand Buddhism and want to help you get a Gohonzon, don't be arrogant, be real and embrace your Buddhahood! The life you might actually salvage might be your own. By embracing the Gohonzon, not only are you afforded unlimited protection (ask Babba), but you life elevates and shines like a lighthouse in the foggiest climate!!!

I truly feel that the great life I'm living, the great things going on have been a result of me getting the Gohonzon, chanting at home, going to meetings to just chant with others (toking before and after of course), doing kosen-rufu by telling my friends and their friends, and most important coming back here to pay appreciation, homage and respect to the thread where this all started for me. I feel strong and know that my strength is derived purely from my unwavering faith in the Gohonzon!

Does anyone here know the best time to plant based on the moon cycles and ect?

Yes and the best time is now! Look at this:
A passage from the “Former Affairs of the Bodhisattva Medicine King,” the 23rd chapter of the Lotus Sutra, reads, “After I [Shakyamuni Buddha] have passed into extinction, in the last five hundred year period you must spread it abroad widely [kosen-rufu] throughout Jambudvipa [the world] and never allow it to be cut off” (The Lotus Sutra, p. 288).Nichiren Daishonin made it his lifelong mission to fulfill this injunction of the Buddha—kosen-rufu. He saw the fulfillment of that mission as widely propagating his teaching of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, which he identified as the essence of the Lotus Sutra. In his “The Selection of the Time,” Nichiren wrote, “Can there be any doubt that, after this period described in the Great Collection Sutra when ‘the pure Law will become obscured and lost,’ the great pure Law of the Lotus Sutra will be spread far and wide [kosen-rufu] throughout Japan and all the other countries of Jambudvipa?” (The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 550).And in “The True Aspect of All Phenomena,” he wrote, “At the time when the Law has spread far and wide [kosen-rufu], the entire Japanese nation will chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, as surely as an arrow aimed at the earth cannot miss the target” (WND-1, 385).

Clearly the time is now and I suggest you try chanting (or harmoniously repeating) this phrase:

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo!

Pronounced:

Nahmm Me-yo-hoe Ren-gay Key-YO!

Now's the time! Right now!!!! my previous post (above) talks about time too... I mean its time to start chanting isn't it?

Nam myoho renge kyo

Nam myoho renge kyo

From "Gratitude: A Hallmark of Humanity", in Living Buddhism, May 2000, pg. 6.

The Buddhist concept of dependent origination explains that everything in this world arises from and is supported by its environment. Everything and everyone is connected. There is no one, therefore, who does not owe a debt of gratitude to others. In this sense, gratitude may be described as our awareness that our lives are supported by our environment, which includes other people, and our desire to respond in kind to such support. Those who are ungrateful or feel burdened by others' kindness fail to see the interconnectedness of all lives. They build walls of ignorance and selfishness around them to isolate themselves from the rest of the world.

Build the courage to overcome all obstacles by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo!

Build the courage to overcome all obstacles by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo!

"All it takes is just one person. If one person rises to action, everyone else will follow suit. Nichiren Daishonin offers this allegory: 'The situation is like the joints in a piece of bamboo: if one joint is ruptured, then all the joints will split' (WND-1, 512).

"It's not about comparing ourselves with others, but how we are challenging ourselves. We need to summon courage from within and break through our limitations. That's how the vast frontiers of kosen-rufu are opened."
SGI Newsletter No. 8166, YOUTH AND THE WRITINGS OF NICHIREN DAISHONIN, The Honour of Making Unseen Efforts for Kosen-rufu--Part 2 [of 2], from the Dec. 29th, 2010, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translated Feb. 21st, 2011.

Wow my group of local chanting growers is growing!!! So many new members are embracing the Gohonzon locally and really helping me sustain a happy lifestyle full of shakubuku and delicious meds.

Just keep planting those seeds of Buddhahood my friends and keep telling your friends about this! Even if some stragglers show up that seem receptive and ultimately don't care much about their happiness or chanting, those people have friends that might join and then their family and then those people's friends.

The truest and most decent people I have ever met have embraced the Gohonzon. I'm so glad to also be a part of this online community that treasures the life of each individual! :) Keep going forward and keep chanting strong! Join the SGI and make kosen-rufu come to fruition everyday!

Let's keep becoming happier everyday together in spirit and in prayer!

Lights, Daimoku, ACTION!!!!!

Keeping chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo! each day and protect the Gohonzon!

"A passage from the Lotus Sutra reads that it is "the most difficult to believe and the most difficult to understand." Many hear about and accept this sutra, but when great obstacles arise, just as they were told would happen, few remember it and bear it firmly in mind. To accept is easy; to continue is difficult. But Buddhahood lies in continuing faith."

"If the minds of living beings are impure, their land is also impure, but if their minds are pure, so is their land. There are not two lands, pure or impure in themselves. The difference lies solely in the good or evil of our minds. It is the same with a Buddha and an ordinary being. While deluded, one is called an ordinary being, but when enlightened, one is called a Buddha. This is similar to a tarnished mirror that will shine like a jewel when polished."

History of the Chanting Growers Movement

History of the Chanting Growers Movement

HA! This is the best story ever...

Thomas one day in 2004 is like "Calling all chanting growers"

Sprout Sprout Sprout, Babbabud shows up repping from the Tao Ta Ching. Thomas is like representing Nichinren Daishonin's Buddhism correctly for the world and they keep the thread going until December 2005 when I joined. By March 2006 I got my Gohonzon and yes I was skeptical as "FUCK" because my pseudo-arch nemisis (true friend) BOG had in his sig since the Overgrow days, "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo" that I totally thought daimoku was a harie krishna mumbo jumbo until I was like "Yo (babba)Bud whats good with the chanting situation". Babba was like "this works Bud, if you want to give it a go let me know". I did and shoot, its the best move I've made like quite possibly ever.

All bullscrap aside, I am grateful for everyday that I can chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo to the Gohonzon, just like Babba and PasstheDoobie do. Life is good, ohh yes, life is good.

To infinity and beyond!

i was a little drunk last night when I wrote that post and also wanted to say that because of Babbabud's seeking spirit, this thread has lasted this long. Babba and PasstheDoobie engaged in an awesome dialogue and helped keep this going so that the newer chanting growers could also develop experiences with the Nam-myoho-renge-kyo Buddha (Nichiren Daishonin).

My life is soo good because of efforts that PTD and Babba kept bringing out consistently. I'm so fortunate to have the capacity and ability to share this.

The best things in life are right before our eyes...

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Gosho propels us to 'simply make up our minds'*
For the sake of our friends and fellow members,
for the sake of our human revolution,
let us not cower, but instead
let us courageously speak out (for the sake of kosen-rufu)!
