.. oh maybe just after a night on the town.

:D

hey windsurfer,
I'm glad you decided to update your prescription for your vision correction. I hope you get that sorted out quickly so you can go back and ace that test with a new outlook on the situation. Glad you were able to see past the good natured ribbing by us and see it for the solid advice we were also giving.... respect for that. Good luck and keep us updated on when you reschedule your test.
Happy and safe riding

OK, let's get this straight. you come here crying because you failed your mini-bike test?

very best of luck w/a new go at it.......

Pardner I am 46 yrs old and have been driving farm and ranch equipment since I was 7. I have traveled every state in the lower 48 and Alaska and thousands of miles on Canadian roads. I traveled the Alcan before most of it was even paved.

I have driven oilfield roads when they were 24 inches deep with gumbo mud and I've driven em with snow 4 feet deep. Nearly every state in America is covered with mud, sand and filth every spring. It's simply a fact of the road, like reading signs.

I've driven those millions of miles in and on every type of motorized vehicle imaginable. For motorcycles to semi's to un-motorized trailer cabs.

Now I have read this entire thread and watched it unravel from the first post and I haven't seen any posts suggesting that nobody believes the OP.
However: I personally have nearly 40 years of driving and I know from personal experience that I will be required to pass an eye exam before I can even take the written or driving test. If I need corrective lenses then I will be required to supply them AND a current prescription.

Now you want myself and everybody here to accept that the OP got screwed by the bureaucratic government employee. But the simple fact is that the OP failed because he neglected to do his own part in preparation for the eye exam.

I believe him. 100%... He failed because he requires corrective lenses and neglected to have them during the test.

Dirty plates and signs are facts of the road. If I can read a sigh or plate at 21 meters then I would fail ANYBODY who can't because I do require eye wear and I no longer drive because, even though DMV approved, I don't trust my own vision and I have children of my own out there on the roads.

In America we are also required to appear for the test with a vehicle of the same class as that which we are testing to operate. If you show up for the driving test without a safe vehicle to test in, you will not pass the test.

what has that got to do with me and my test? nothing

just because you write a big long post does not mean you are in the right, because you arent. you're wrong

no, wrong, lets get this streight..

I came here because I am 40 quid out of pocket and felt I had been bumped off so explained the circumstances to see what other people felt about the money. Nothing to do with me "failing a test"

Even though I told her I know im supposed to wear glasses but never wear them.

Fair enough, my mistake, i didnt see that line, (maybe i should be weraing specs too). As such i apologise for any offence i may have caused.

But.

But i stand by my point that you are almost certainly a bunch of self righteous hypocrites, i bet you have all driven stoned, and on bad tyres, without your specs and a whole host of other transgressions of the law.

But no, never mind that, lets just pick on some youngster that got stitched up by an over zealous bureaucrat. Its the way you all chime in together, its a poor do.

I also stand by my statment that this attitude is part of a tide of conservatism that has spread through the Atlantic, and English speaking world, and again i say, dont be part of it, stand with the people who stand with you.

It's a shame this guy got screwed out of his money but just patting him on the back and telling him "yes, you did get screwed" does absolutely nothing for him.

Hmm, not so sure HK, maybe he just wanted someone to stand at his side and say " Yes mate, i know, they are c***s one and all".

Much the way i would/do when i get screwed over by bureaucrats.

Anyway, i made a mistake I rather naivly thought that since so many people here have been on the wrong side of prohibition laws that you might be in possesion of the spirit of solidarity.

Any fool can chime in and condemn others, its like a very bad playground instinct, but once you are over a certain age, it behoves you to forgo this dubious pleasure.

swallow your pride and get some glasses mate. if you think its ok to drive with poor eyesight then you are wrong.
the test centre should agree to continue the CBT when you can pass the eye test - write them a letter or phone them...

Btw... I have driven in Scotland. The wife and I honeymooned there 15 years ago.

And moss... You DO sound like the (young) fool chiming in on this one, bro....

i rode various motorbikes round london for 10 years or so. you need to be able to look out for yourself - because you can be sure that nobody else will be looking out for you.

How are you 40 quid out of pocket? You took the course, you took the test, you failed on purpose and ripped off the lady who saved your life and the lives of countless others.

They fulfilled their end of the bargain. They provided you their time, expertise and knowledge of the law. You wasted their time, came unprepared and left without paying the full fee. If anyone is a ripper it's you. You still owe them 40 quid.

The woman deserves a medal.

Your best bet might have been to play on the sympathy of the examiner. She had you by the bullocks when she was forced to fail you, and I'm not sure how you reacted to that by the initial post. (It sounds to me like you argued with her.)

I might have acted surprised to learn that I needed glasses and then told her that I'd like the chance to go get fitted for my first pair ever before returning to continue the exam. I'd have apologized for wasting her time and asked if it would be at all possible to hold the payment I'd had given her until I could scrape up the money to comply with her totally reasonable request. Then I would have thanked her for bringing the issue to your attention and told her that the color of her civil service uniform matched her eyes...

^^Thats the truth right there.

When you drive a car you have to make sure you don't hit anybody, when your riding a bike you have to make sure nobody hits you!!!

Self rightous hypocrits? I hope you were talking to yourself in the mirror when you said that? You come here, admit you were wrong, apologize for any offense but then go on to say you stand by what you said originally when you were wrong.

This isn't a story of some kid that got screwed over by an over zealous bureaucrat. It's a story of someone who wasn't prepared to take the test and as a result is now out some money because he couldn't pass the test.

So I guess you aren't over that certain age then because to me you are just some fool chiming in and condemning everyone who didn't coddle the orginal poster. You speak of things like solidarity and yet you position yourself against everyone in this thread that you don't agree with. That's not solidarity that's pigheaded ignorance.

Im not sure what that certain age is exactly, no doubt you can enlighten me. Though TBH, if in my mind i havent reached this ceratin age, boy im pleased about that.

Yes, im some fool chiming in and condemning everyone who didn't coddle the orginal poster. (though thats not quite the way i see it).

Strangly, i doubt he made the post in the hope it would result in loads of people rounding on him, people who it seems have led utterly blameless, unblemished lives, veritable paragons of upstanding righteousness.

So, from my point of view, it was just a load of hypocrites taking an opportunity to pronounce down from the virtuous heights. In truth though we just cant see the glass houses we all live in, as we are all hiding behind our anonymity.

You speak of things like solidarity and yet you position yourself against everyone in this thread that you don't agree with."
Yes of course i do, dont you position yourself against those you dont agree with?

That's not solidarity that's pigheaded ignorance.
No, it is solidarity. Solidarity with WS, not with all you old farts who have forgotten what a bunch of tear aways you were.

I have solidarity with him for a bunch of reasons, we are in the same place, i feel sorry for younger people, i hate bureaucrats and he had a hard time with one, he shares a subforum with me, in short, im on his side in many ways without even meaning to be. It just is so.

We stand together or fall apart.

Peace HK, im sure if you met me in real life, it would all be so different. Sadly that's never likely to happen.

So, you are against each and every civil servant out there doing his/her job? And apparently that means that all stoner/growers who post here are also supposed to hate every civil servant? Those folks are also human, but WE stand together or fall apart? Doesn't that make us more human?

ps: I'm not part of your little group that apparently values solidarity over all else including public safety, lad. So, speak for yourself, unless you have Mr Hankey in your pocket and then please feel free to speak for the both of you, from a distance of course.....
