I sure didn't read this whole thread, and have no desire to enter into auto wars. But I will add that I think they suck.
Folks worry about fem seeds and the damage they can do to cannabis, when there is actually no warranted concerns and their fears are totally unfounded.

A little subjective, wouldn't you say?

AF's on the other hand are indeed inferior genes and have the potential to fuck up a cannabis population. This is a fact that is easily backed up, unlike the voodoo worries of the fem seed haters.

Care to demonstrate? IMO, you're flipping the coin on your selection argument.

But for folks who like diluted shit that you can't do much with, AF's should be fine. Just keep your pollen away from my stuff!

I am far from expert in genetics.

But..
I dont trust that instinct to deny people the right to breed, because they are ill, have a condition, are disabled, etc.

Im also not saying that its all fine either, shit happens, and there are consequences.

But to pick on a person who has a disease, or condition as not being worthy of reproduction is very dubious, who has this right to decide?
As far as im aware, only Germany (in the past) and Sweden, surprisingly, more latterly has operated policy's of this kind, there may be others.

Look, the man is looking for what folks think about AF strains. He knows what is what and the implications that AF's bring to the table. I was simply offering my opinion of them.
I think for the 54 folks living in Siberia that have no choice but to grow them, they are peachy keeno.

Ok, that's right, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if genetic purity and the true breeding integrity of lines is at stake, then move far from the people who are obviously growing huge numbers of autoflowing mongrel males that they irresponsibly allow to cross pollinate with your pedigree poodle females.

I accept, that if you live in a very high population density, and you are surrounded by slackers who want to breed their own version of low ryder et al, then it could be a real nuisance in the garden.

The real truth now is that people will be growing auto flowerers all over the place, that genie, is out, of that bottle.

Hi All!
As the title suggests,I'm here to gather information as to why y'all have such a "thing" for AF plants.
Breeding,Reservoir has always selected away from AF phenotypes,as do most in the business,including my pal Tom Hill.
We consider AF's to be essentially useless,and certainly not to be bred into a line.
So,I wonder why,instead of growing AF's,you guys don't just select short flower-cycle females,like Cinderella 99 or a nice quick indica,and flower them shortly after rooting,all packed together,if you must? With a 50-55 day 12/12 cycle,C99's as "short a cycle" as a short cycle gets.
Or,hell,even grow "feminized" short-cycle seeds over AF's?
It also seems a lot of AFs are low in potency-and that's a Big No No in my book.
I have no wish to argue,and won't,I just want to know and to understand what it is that's so attractive to y'all about auto-flowering plants,is all.
I appreciate the time taken to enlighten me!

Here's my take on AFs.

I'm a pretty new grower with very little experience under my belt so the ease of growing AFs is appealing to me. Also, I'm not a med user and I don't really smoke very often so having the most knock-out smoke there is or highest yield isn't really a concern for me. The smaller stature of the plants in both breadth and height allows me to pack more plants into a smaller space with less worry of overcrowding them. With the variety of AF plants available (granted the variety available is only a fraction of what can be found in regular strains) I can grow several different strains providing a more interesting selection in a fraction of the time and space of regular strains. All of this makes AF very appealing to me.

Sure, they're not for everybody but they do have their place. Compared to the potency and yield of regular strains, AF admittedly falls behind in both and I doubt if they'll ever really be on par but they are improving.

once i have hit 50 posts il start a thread and show you what i do with af's and why they work for me. im sure that even af haters will enjoy seeing a failproof setup that consists of great stealth and well organised methods for growing in a place where you cant fart without someone knowing. i run my seed production from home in extreme stealth. getting raided will be of little concern simply because i grow these plants in ways that you cant do with non af's. you'll see what i mean. and then there's my grow spots which i utilize all year round. af's provide me with genetics that work perfectlyly with my 'no getting caught' grow methods.
