Anslinger is long gone!
It is not HIM that we have to PROVE wrong!

but his propaganda lives on!!!
In recent decades, marijuana growers have been genetically altering their plants

Additionally, studies have shown an association between chronic marijuana use and increased rates of anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and schizophrenia

Contrary to popular belief, marijuana can be addictive. Marijuana addiction is also linked to a withdrawal syndrome similar to that of nicotine withdrawal,

Other research has shown marijuana smoke to contain carcinogens and to be
an irritant to the lungs. In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50-70 percent more carcinogenic
hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke.11

since rescheduling has become a larger talking point, might not hurt to think through some likely outcomes
they may be obvious to some, so this may not be a revelation
if we get rescheduling to say, schedule 2, in with morphine and cocaine
seems harmless from a federal control point of view, but maybe not
it means there is some condition(s) that MJ is now federally recognized for
and only those conditions? once you admit to some use, does the not so small body of medical evidence for MJ usefulness come into play?
if you reschedule at all, every citizen in every state can become a potential litigant in the courts arguing the evidence why cannabis is useful for their condition
so every state becomes a MMJ state in one fell swoop
no doubt this has been considered in the 'high offices' of the land, that once MJ is rescheduled it's game over for the federal MJ system

Big business fucking rocks.... You can keep your coops and your hippie jam festivals cuz I get Levis for $20, chuck taylors for $15 and 20 chicken mcnuggets for $5

So go trade some sage or hugs or whatever the fuck you burnt out fried hippies use as currency and let the rest of civilization not be held to your non deodorant using jerr bear standards

lol....what hippy are you talking about? Being conscience of our throw away society is Hippydom?

Ain't no stinking hippy here dude. Just a grown man making better decisions not to support a "buy it today...throw it away tomorrow" kind of scenario.

It's a healthy and much more complicated way of living...no doubt. It actually takes effort on ones part to make a go of it.

You go ahead and eat all that shit they've been literally feeding you....and then think your politics will buy you happiness and health.

If more folks were proactive in their health....we would not have so many being fleeced. It's a toxic way of life you lead my friend...I don't support you.

the other thing that happens with rescheduling...
it becomes a federally recognized prescription medication.
all of our recommendations become invalid that day. every patient becomes a criminal in possession of a controlled substance without a prescription(none of us have prescriptions only "recommendations"
all state MMJ laws become null and void with schedule II and the FDA treats MJ like oxy.

yeah lets do that first...

I'm not saying fuck anything....I'm saying do more to be responsible and take care of yourselves....stop the need to be regulated to death. Stop waiting to be told what to do.

well, they're already criminals by federal law right now
it's just a sideways move, not likely a wave of new enforcement is going to be done
but rescheduling would be a very new world, likely many unseen consequences in the offing

the problem is there are some who dont realize what rescheduling really means to medical marijuana.
if the fed rescheduled tomorrow to sch. II 215 would effectively be destroyed....
its not about raids,it doesn't have to be. its about the ama and doctors losing their licenses.
right now Dr. writes a recommendation becuse you cant write a prescription for a sch. I drug, however if MJ is a sch. II it would be the reverse. a doctor cant write a "recommendation" for oxycontin. nor could a doctor write a prescription for sch. II cannabis.
by law a sch II narcotic must be dispensed by a licensed pharmacist.
bye bye dispensaries....
federal rescheduling is the wide open door for the big guys as well.
bye bye mom and pop
wanna kill cali growers? push for sch II and see how fast they are gone...

not a well thought out position...

well, i wasn't arguing that i thought schedule 2 made a lot of sense
but we are talking about the federal government here
just that even going to schedule 2 could be problematic from the federal perspective
in my opinion, our influence(the voters) on federal scheduling is effectively zero
they're going to do what they want to do
you have good points that this might be disruptive to the current MMJ structure

You are one very narrow minded individual.

Agree to disagree here. Things are pretty lax in CA with 215, if "we" refers to Californians.

People are getting arrested every day.

There is a war against us...it is very real!

People are getting arrested every day.

There is a war against us...it is very real!
As of 2011 possession is no longer an arrest-able offense in CA. Next years graph will look very different. 2008 was the highest arrest count for possession since 1970. The war is on illegal producers and selling in CA.

The federal rescheduling is what the nation needs, regardless of the affects on the CA MMj industry (small farms). Marijuana has medicinal properties and this needs to be recognized. We are talking about sick people without access to proper medicine. Relief for terminally ill americans is more important than small farms and recreational/commercial pot in the US.

In CA, recreation and commercial production are not more important than small farms. CA doesn't need it. We have too much high quality herb already. All it needs is to be safety screened at one of our labs.
In the US, recreaction and commercial production are more important than small farms. US needs it due to lack of MMj laws.

Until then, CA small farms can prosper in the CA medical marijuana industry. Here exists the rare favoritism for the little guy in todays world, and that is worthy of celebration. In fact, I'm celebrating right now.

You guys can keep hating on CA, after all, "if no one is hating you are not doing it right", hmmm KB?

Folks like myself and KB, my friends and farmers, and subequently 'millions' of others (lol JJ) will push CA to vote what is good for CA. Prop 19 was shit for CA, I voted yes anyways because of this whole "maybe it will help the nation" idea. But that idea is based on whooping assumptions. If the next proposition Lee puts up sucks for CA, I will not support it. Until then y'all can keep hoping CA solves your problems for you, and blaming us for not wanting to sacrifice thousands of small farms in CA to big biz. This anti-CA rhetoric is only pushing us farther from giving a shit about the rest of the country.

We have our own problems in CA, and care little about the ramifications of our voting on other states. Puh-leaze people, if it was any other state it would be exactly the same. If you want to grow pot and not risk being someone's bitch in prison, move to a med state and stop blaming CA for your problems.

It is about life priorities. Sell the house, say bye to the extended family, pull the kids from school, whatever it takes. You can stay where you are and work to enact change in your state, the nation needs people with this kind of commitment. Bitching at CA for the lack of MMJ in your current state, while failing to realize that states will always have varying legislation, is your failing not CA's.

There still exist counties where you can't buy alcohol. I'm not saying this is right. But I am saying I would not choose to live there. Where we live is our choice. Failing to realize that MMj is relatively new, and of course it will take time for individual states to work out legislation acceptable to the citizens, is very short sighted. Or you can help yourself, by moving somewhere with MMj. Or you can just quit smoking pot altogether for your safety. I choose to live (aka grow) under the protections of CA MMj, it was an easy decision.

It's a good thing you out of staters don't vote in CA, sounds like you would sacrifice every one of us MMj vendors so you can sleep better at night (or get a better pound price on the east coast). Well I'll tell you all right here and now. Move to CA and get your MMj, quit breaking the law, sleep like a baby. We all argue about this here, but when it's said and done I'm smoking a spliff on my porch and trimming with the windows open. I know big business/ag will have the last laugh, but right now CA MMj vendors and the "support your local crowd" are laughing at them.

Of course you don't support me your hippies. The only thing you support is phish concerts and grilled cheese sandwiches

again you assume we dont have medical where we are...

i dont have a day job. medical marihuana (that spelling should be a clue) is my livelihood.

ass-u-me

hell to be honest we got it better than cali over here..
low cost of living
ground floor market
high price for meds...
cali passing recreational sure as fuck would impact my bottom line negatively..
but i recognize the right thing vs. the selfish thing...
maybe it's generational?

Well I do support my local breweries and the local restaurant over the chain, but to not legalize weed simply because someone with more money will do a bigger grow than you is fucking ludacris.

In this case the person doing the "bigger grow than" me is also the person drafting the legislation. His main intent is to run the home growers out of the market, and take our incomes for himself. He plans on using the argument that we cannot be trusted to produce safe cannabis (ignoring that fact the we can have our gardens certified organic and products lab tested, the good dispensaries already do this). I can't support anything blindly. Again, I need to see some actual legislation before I take a stance on it.
