lumped all drugs together...
nice sidestep i guess. got to admire the tactics...
but for fucks sake that was unacceptable!

They didn't even ask about cannabis specifically. They asked about drug policy and legalization of all drugs so as to minimize the specific cannabis discussion, which is much more popular.

Very clever mainstream propaganda tactic. Props to the fascists. Very well done.

He did say that things were being actively discussed (and kept his mouth shut about what) and said that it was definitely time to re-evaluate and that he was in favor of debate on the subject.

That's about all I expected. It could've been MUCH worse.

take a step back.

it was a setup from leap?
im just riffing here but it seems the wording was purposefully pointed at "all drugs" rather than cannabis.
and ZERO mention of medical yet

I was worried at first since they basically got straight to the bullshit football and youtube vid questions... But all things considered I'm satisfied with the way he addressed the prohibition issue this time.
...Not often do you hear a holder of high-office in America acknowledge that drug abuse is a health issue.

A setup? LEAP stands for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. LEAP is for ending the prohibition of all drugs. It's not like they changed their mission statement at the last second or anything. I missed the question. I'll have to wait for the edited link.

agreed. he made a few key points.

1. it should be dealt with as a public health problemn, not an incarceration problem.

2. drug reform is being re-evaluated

3. shit i forgot...

He may have toked at one time but thats a distant and forgotten memory, usefull to mention during a campaign, as Clinton found, with young people.

Worthy of debate, but what he really wants is interdiction.
No surprise.

peace :rasta:

Not really. He paid lip-service to the cliche's about treatment over prison for addicts, with no mention of any actionable initiatives.

He started the response immediately by saying that it was a "...legitimate topic" only because Andrew Sullivan, someone who has his ear, gave him shit for laughing last time. Alas, every single sentence after proclaiming legalization a "legitimate topic" was an explanation of why he thinks it's not a legitimate topic. He just used that sentence to start the conversation because his aids told him to.

How could his answer possibly have been worse? "reduce demand?" LOL. That's the kind of mindless statement that an intelligent man (which Obama is) would never say if he gave two shits about the issue.

He might as well as of said "fuck em all, throw away the key." it wouldn't have sounded as pretty, but the reality of the situation would stay exactly the same.
