I agree with y'all that the holes need to be 2" square. Done.
Hazy. I plan on removing the entire tub from the cab, removing the top and placing the top on another tub base while I empty and refill the reservoir.

do yourself one better and just make a second base tub if you can. If not that still sounds good.

Im stoked to see your grow Sgt.

Well my clones are failing. I think my temps are too low.
In the mean time, I'm finishing my Citral girls in this cab until I can get some better clones.
Here they are at day 47 of flower. The trichs are just starting to go cloudy, so these will probably go for 60 days.

Hey stunky and kjz.
Nice to have you on board.

Here's some observations on the cab with the girls inside. Temps are higher than in beta testing, but the exhauster fan is running at less that 1/2 speed.

Temps are running 80-82 just below the lights. Within 2-3" of the lights, the buds are measuring 76-79 using an IR thermometer. The door thermometer is measuring 74-76 and the floor is measuring 65 left of the plant and 72 right of the plant. I think the inside fan and more direct light on that side is causing the temperature differential on the floor.

Ambient temps are running about 65 in the room.

That's all for now.

Holy crap those buds look far too good for CFL, are you cheating and moving the plant under a 1000hps?

nah just kidding. but dude. those buds.I wish I could taste.

Namaste :joint:

u should hook the cool tube to the filter.. so that it doesn't lose any heat on the way outta the box . if ur trying to cut down the temp.. looks good though just a suggestion

I've got some questions for some of you who run Lucas.
Based on my cab using a 150w HPS and two 85w CFLs, do you think the 0-8-16 formula is OK or should I dial it down?
Also, what do you recommend for a starting Lucas mix for getting these girls going?

I've done a little experimenting with ratios checking pH and conductivity using distilled water as a base and AN micro and bloom as ferts.

Here's the results:

Distilled water pH 5.27, cond 2.17 uS (1.5 ppm assuming 0.7 conversion)
Lucas at 0-2.5-5 pH 4.61, cond 647 uS (453 ppm)
Lucas at 0-4-8 pH 4.60, cond 958 uS (671 ppm)
Lucas at 0-5-10 pH 4.63, cond 1201 uS (840 ppm)
Lucas at 0-8-16 pH 4.60, cond 1779 uS (1,245 ppm)

Obviously, I need to boost my pH and I may need to add epson salt at the lower rates to boost Mg.

I am considered what some people might call a light feeder.

i feed with ionic flower and boost + calmag. so take this with a grain of salt.....

My schedule looks like this. @ .5 conversion. so my ratios are lower then yours by a small margin.

i put the clones in at 500-600ppm PH 6.0 usually have roots out of the net pot in 3-5 days. then another 2 or so days of letting it get established.

once i have good roots i up it.
800-900ppm PH 5.8 <- the ppm amount will change depending on strain. some like more some don't like nearly any at all ime.

for a established plant that is doing well and showing no signs of yeilding.
Large Plant-850-1000ppm PH 5.5-6.2, i defiantly monitor the PH number to see if i am over feeding. the Durban for instance did not like 1000 at all showing burning on the serrations during veg. and the ph started dropping, backed it down to 900 and she was more then happy.

Flowering i will run 900-1100ppm depending on strain. but because of the boost these numbers are skewed. i add boost in place of about 25-35% of the flower solution to get where things are nice, no burning occurs and i have a steady rise in PH over a weeks time.

hope this helps im high as hell off scissor hash...

cool things about those little bubblers is that you can dump it if your lucas is too hot.

Id say start with 5-10 and work up from there. They'll quickly tell you if its not enough. Then just dump and add 7/14... OR if it's too hot dump and add 4-8. Im sure that thing only holds like 2-3gallons right? were talking a a dollar or two worth of nutes just to determine your feed parameters. Because Lucas is more a RATIO than a formula you can easily adjust it on a whim just to see if that plants can take it.

Actually Lucas formula is 8-0-18, Micro - Gro - Bloom. You do not use the Gro.mu

The ratio for Lucas formula for low light is 5-0-10 this is used for lighting below 400w.
I would start with the low light formula.

hazydreams.. i use ionic too.. do u not use any grow??? what r u cloning in? i wish i could get roots in 3 to 5 days.. never tried the cal mag.// but it looks like i need some

sarge not to thread jack..

stunky:

I do use ionic products for my hydro. I don't use the grow. if you look at the ratios for grow and bloom you'll see that the ratios are not much different. the roots i was referring too are when you put rooted clones into the net pot and you wait for them to pop out. not necessarily cloning.

i use peat pellets/rapid rooters to start my clones. i usually have roots in 7-10 days. My cloning set up is a humidity dome, a 150w MH and the select mothers next door in the same 2x2 space. cut it off dip it in clonex, insert into the moist (moisture with the peat pellets is the biggest key, too moist and you get nothing, too dry and they wilt fast. i usually submerge them into water and then squeeze them hard once. thats the optium water retention IME) and mist with water. I dont mist the clones again for 5-7 days. but i will mist the inside of the dome to keep the humidity up.

Cal mag has made a large difference in the overal health of my plants. i dont get the annoying defeciency three weeks into veg that i used to get using jsut ionic. theres not enough calcium to feed the plant correctly so you have to add some more.

hope this helps. sarge back on topic! how long till this thing is operating, i cant wait to see what you pull out of this thing.

Hazy,

No worries about discussing your ionic regime. I started the nute discussion so all info is good.

Today is day 50 for the girls so they are getting their first flush with bubbled tap and 1 tsp molasses/gal.

I haven't given up on my clones yet since they were taken in mid to late flower. If I can get legs on them, I will have the cab running SWC in less than 2 weeks.

My flexible airstones arrive tomorrow so I'm ready to get this cab rockin'.

YEAH SARG THANKS FOR THE THREAD SPACE.. didn't mean to take over.. hazy all info appreciated.. one back for ya.. i never had a defeciancy in veg using grow ionic. but if ya use bloom i can see it..
never done this molasses thing.. i'm planning on trying it soon..
maybe they will grow there legs.. good luck

believe it or not i see the CAL deficiency MORE with the veg then using just the bloom for what ever reason. i stopped using the veg all together after experimentation with this. pretty cool as now i just buy twice as much bloom to hold me over. the cal mag is added at 5ml per gallon. so its not like im using alot. just enough to keep my girls green and healthy.
