Tattoos?

Tats are a matter of taste but it´s not just the polynesians that have a history of body modification. Up North were I live (not far from Siberia) they found a mummified queen that is thousands of years old and covered in tattoos.
The good thing is that we don´t HAVE to do it ;)

Second doubts is a bad thing if you´ve had ink done but nowadays even that can be taken care of.

Facial tattoos are a sign of personality disorders ie sociopaths etc.

Inked and love it. Get a lot of negative vibes in japan though. The only real thing stopping me getting more is how expensive they can be. Planning on getting my neck and face done even...a little teardrop. :)

Got my first tattoo in 1975 and my 14th in 2005. I have never ever regretted getting them like people over the years kept telling me I would. I think facial tattoo's are ok but not for me.

I always hang a potential tattoo design on my wall, right next to my light-switch in my bedroom. I leave it there for at least 6 months. If I still like the design enough to get it, I get it.

You have to see it at least twice a day, every day for 6 months.

The first time I did this, I came up with several alterations to a tattoo before getting it so that I am much happier with it than I otherwise might be.

guys-

I got my last tat in a temple in Bangkok.
I love it.
The monk used a 2-3' long metal rod thing that hurt like hell!
The tattoo is a mantra that is supposed to protect me from "projectiles".

The monk is in a trance/meditation as he inks you. When he finishes, he says a prayer and blows over it.
Then he taps you twice on the side.

Payment is only donations of flowers, candles and some Thai cigarettes.
The monks smoke a lot!

TR33: Facial tats ara a sign of disturbanse, you can look it up. A well known tat artist said that he never does facials as modifying your face in that fashion is psychologically too hard to confront over time. Psychologists say the same but in different terms.

If it´s a part o tradition well that´s a different matter ie Polynesians as it´s not a social stigma in there culture.

Why don´t you do a prison tour and see for yourself.

Calling people ignorant is a sign of ignorance.

Photorikki: Excellent tattoo! How was the hygiene? Any local infections?
I´m seriously jealous.

I was pretty worried about that because he used the same needle for everybody in the room!
I brought bleach with me just in case I needed him to wash the needle. But he never spoke and I didn't know if I could talk or not.
I was the only foreigner there.

But when it was my turn, he used this spray on foamy stuff to clean his instruments and I relaxed.
Thailand got super educated about aids and hygiene and this temple does a tremendous amount of tats which keeps them very clean-even though it may not look like it in the pics!

This temple holds a tattoo festival once a year and lots of people get possessed by their tattoos! They rock back and forth and speak in tongues and then they jump up and run straight ahead.
There is a line of monks holding hands to form a chain and they catch the possessed guy, soothe the spirit and send the guy back to his seat. It is a riot to see!

No infections or anything but it did take the swelling a while to go down.
I'll go over there and get some more with you!

But those teardrops in the corner of your eye and the SS flash creeping out of your collar may look a bit out of place in a jacket and tie at the big customer sales presentation.

Can you imagine how your confidence would loom if the surgeon for your gall bladder operation had a dotted line tatted on his neck and "Cut Here' over his Adam's apple in the finest Jailhouse Bic?

Curmugeon-ness is a dirty job but somebody has to do it.
