Hollands bare bulbs

B

Bob Smith

Thanks for the suggestions guys

Bob-I'm ordering em right now, 13.99 on amazon with free shipping :-D

Aligee-this is gonna make posting a lot easier, I love this app already

Bobblehead- thanks for stopping by...what's stopping you from switching now? lol I'm probably gonna use you're chicken wire idea but I'm still wondering how...

Good move, bro - they just make everything have a dark green hue to it, but I can look directly at 4 stacked 600s and not feel like my eyes are gonna burn up.

Space and Electricity are my limiting factors right now. I'm saving for another location. For you, I would run 3 straight rows of rabbit fencing. It'll give you some nice isles to walk down. Put some hooks overhead to hang the lights from while you're working. The poultry netting was nice, b/c I could cut it up to free the plant, but I've switched to the bigger more permanent rabbit fencing. I'm using zip-ties and stakes to train the plants. I didn't realize that you're here in MI till I went back through and read your posts. Keep up the good work.

Wondering if you rotate your plants?
Or do you prune them so the growth is facing the lights?

Thanks, trying to get an understanding of the vertical bush process.

I haven't/don't plan on rotating them. Right now I'm just training the branches towards the bulbs but I really wanna put some chicken wire in there and train the shoots thru

Looks Great. Bare bulb is definitely the way to go.

Holland... Just a thought... What about tomato cages. Theyed go around each plant, and you could train plants, as well as re use them each round! Just my 2cents

Happy Growing!!

i love growing with bare bulbs. way more efficient use of the light. honestly i have found it dropped the temps. in my rooms significantly. the only explanation i have for this is that the reflectors were acting like heat conductors and the heat from the bulbs was heating up the top of the reflectors and they were acting like mini heat sinks. check the grow in my sig if you want to see some bare bulb action.

I love these dual 600w ballasts, each bulb is separately dimmable :-D

You can never have too many clones...

And here's the moms and the veg plants before I put em under the 600's

Marlo, squire, kush--Thanks for the love

Squire- that sounds like a great idea! I think I'll do the tomato cages in the 3K room.

I also really like the idea of rabbit fencing(thanks bobblehead) :-D so I'm prolly gonna incorporate that into the 3600watt room

Kush-I agree with what you're saying about the hoods...I haven't had the need for an a/c in either vertical room. All I have cooling the bulbs are these cheap fans I got at target, 3$ each so I had to buy em all haha

Gooey-L-O-V-E these laws. Hopefully soon they'll up how much we can carry cause a 15 ounce max just isn't reasonable.

The verts treating me good so far :) still very new to it but so far I'm really liking it. I think my next major step would be to flip the ballasts huh? I've got more than enough space, I plan on doing it sometime after my next harvest (next weekend!)

Squire-thanks again bro

A side note, I bought a house in July and I'm finally getting it inspected this week...I'm open to ideas on the next room. I wanna try flipping 2 dual 600watt ballasts in a 10x12 room

I think a horizontal ebb n grow setup...if you want to flip the ballasts wont you want seperate rooms so you can alternate? i think vert is awsome but i love my vertizontal reflectors...check em out...puff puff

Hey man how hard is it to get mmj card in michigan? Also is there an age requirement to be a caregiver? Also what is the plant limit? Your grow is lookin good, Im about to ditch the reflectors and do a 4k barebulb. They are at week 4 of flower right now, and I don't think its too late to throw the bulbs vertical. Thanks for sharing your grow.

Holland Oats great thread so far! i agree on the laws needed some change. 15 oz. for us vert growers? that's just a couple of plants. good thing for hash. good thing i'm getting some patients for my wife too. it helps with the numbers game. i'm finding that certain strains do better with vertical lights. those seem to be indica/sativa hybrids. SSH and Chemdog have blown my mind away with yields. the stretch is your friend. pure indica and autoflowers didn't do so well. i heard Sour Diesel is good for vert too. i've got to try it soon.

also, i could be wrong but i don't think you can set up a flip-flop with digital ballasts. i think i read that somewhere.

tell me about your temps man. i run 2 600s in a cool tube column, fan on low spped. floor to ceiling and my canopy temps right now in a 66 degree basement are about ideal 78-80F. how hot does it get in there without directing the hot air out? i'm so paranoid about heat from summer time. maybe i could go without tubes for the winter?

great job so far, i like you setup a lot, i've now got it subscribed.

i would not go to vertical 4 weeks into flower. it could stress them and your yield will suffer. plants grow towards the light and at 4 weeks they're not growing so half your canopy won't get good light. it's easy to get a card in michigan and getting cheaper now too, like $75. IBS, anxiety, headaches, etc. caregivers have to be 21 and no felonies.

Reddy1 you can take out the tubes for sure... My temps are 70-75 now with 1200w bare bulbs cooled with outside air. I have a room with 2 400's steady at 67.

reddy, yeah I was just in the room, and I decided against it. My canopy is too even right now. I could maybe throw one bare bulb in there to help with the popcorn, and leave the hoods up for the big top nugs. And about the med card, do I have to have documented problems? If so that wont be an issue. And is there a market for high quality in michigan? Do the dispensaries pay a fair price?

Why can't I cut the room in half and do monsters on either side? I'm really trying to get my numbers down ya know? I've got 96 under 3k with horizantal reflectors already, I wanna ditch the hoods and grow some more trees!!

reddy-you can flip digital ballasts...im not gonna get into to any specifics(partially because i dont know much about them) but it involes plc's. you need them to shut the ballasts down for like 15 minutes before they fire up again....so yeah, it can be done.

and get rid of those cooltubes! at least til it gets hot again, youd be surprised...our ventilation consists of those little fans on each bulb, and then a 6" centrifugal fan exhausting the room thru a carbon filter...works great with a passive intake

mdk-you dont necessarily need documented health conditions but it helps...theres doctors all over the state who will pass you right on thru the system...not sure if thats a good or a bad thing haha.

and as far as the prices...i dont sell to the dispensaries but i know there is a market. i have a hard enought time taking care of my own demand...im not really concerned with price. i give a lot of this shit away in the end...thats why i need this many lights :D of course theres a demand for quality meds, but i dont expect all of my friends to pay 350+ an oz...and i think the dispensaries only wanna pay 250 so whatever..

Just wanted to show you guys what kinds of things I'm doing to train these beasts...

Here's a pic from the 3k room, it's just some 2inch chicken wire I had laying around. The weight of the plants holds it up. I tried to train all of the shoots thru to the front, while keeping em a little farther back than they were.

And here's a pic from the 3600watt room. It's a tomato cage that we stabbed right in to the lid. It's holding the plants up great. I'll start weaving some chicken wire thru here soon too

And here's another one from that room, this is before I pulled the branches thru
