So I tried saving the pic address and then cut and pasting in the web address box on the edit avi page, but it came back as invalid file.

Any thoughts?

Right click the image and select Save Image As... or Save Target As...

I think that is because it is a gif image which is actually multiple images. You will need to change the size of all the images using a gif editor. Sorry I don't have one installed right now or I would take care of it. If it is static (one image), let me know and I can change it.
