lol, yes I have not attempted the XP version "Safe mode" trick myself but there is a way to get by that impressivley simple security of the startup pw. Linux can be booted from the cdrom drive before windows starts up. using a linux that can read ntfs file systems, and a handy dandy registry editor you can change the hash files for the passwords on startup, hell you can change ANY password within the wndows OS this way. And funny thing, i have a cdrom run linux sitting here just now. haha.

where did I learn this...hmmm., not one place in particular. well lets see, since I was a kid ive been atached by the hip to a computer. Through years of pounding the keyboard I have tought myself programming, system tricks, and hacking *cough* I got in a light bit of trouble for hacking a mail server when I was a bit younger (not LEO trouble thankfully), I have taken calculus courses and numerous other advance mathmatics since i was very young. And to top it off, I have certifications in networking and computer system repair, (soon to have IP secuirty and network security certifications) as well as taking Computer Science courses in college (it is my major in fact, that and mechanical engineering). so to say that i am an expert, I am not. IMHO I am but a novice in a completely ever evlolving system, but i do have experience, a lot of knowledge, and the humble input of actual computer experts.

Nothing is for sure in the computer world. They have said the same of 16 bit security for christs sake, back in the old days of computers. Now they say that of 256? I dont believe for an instance. And once again, anything the LEO or the NSA have are NOT going to publisised, NOT. Come on people, there are corp out there that put out programs, some of those corp are headed by former or current NSA members, of course there gonna say that, its called propoganda. not to mention no civilian person would be able to say "the NSA can or cant crack this", there is no way they could know for sure unless they worked for the NSA and if they had and were divulging such info, haha, im sure you can figure out the steps NSA would take.

The encryption strength in terms of bits will not change in accordance with the pw depending on the prog, and if it did it would only to a point. In terms of your account on any type of system, it just makes it harder to crack, doesnt effect the encryption cypher strength. Like i have said before, the consumer products avaliable to you or only that consumer products, they may be hardy but they are not invincible, proven every day by black hat hackers.

Renting a house wouldent be so bad, but an appartment would suck. Thats how alot of medical growers get busted by the feds, they have a grow and their landlord feels entitled to call different cops until someone responds.

im renting a house too. 4 bedrooms 2 living rooms and lots of possibilities!!!

1 room is flowering.........2nd room is vegging.....and 3rd is the cloning room.....sweet

Pssssh, to the haters who hate when people bump 4/yo threads- whatever, there is some damn good info in here, it's 3X longer than any other thread with the terms rent rental or renting in the title.

When I get some free time I'm going to quote a few people in some of the other rental threads in this one. I've been researching for awhile now & I'm pretty close to making the jump on something even though it's a little out of my price range because it's a nice new house with out of state landlords & I haven't been able to find anything else + or - $$wise that offers me even just the out of state landlord. + it's in an area that I want to hit up next summer for outdoors.

Dang, this thread IS old but I'm glad you found some useful info argo. There was a lot of good knowledge being dropping here and that's what the sites are for so can't hate on anyone digging up information that is useful to them. Best of luck in your pursuit.

Sup MozMan......I guess I never saw thisun Bro........Some in depth shit on bein a better criminal fer sure.........

When I first went inside after 12 or so yrs outside , I did lease purchases on nicer homes that needed work........

Being a carpenter/builder/remodeler really helped as the owners would lease me the homes for a yr , and at the end of that yr I had the option of purchasing the home with equity already built in from my original down payment and X amount toward the purchase of said home in the monthly payments...........

While I was remodeling and upgrading the homes , I was growin my ass off , and at the end of that yr lease I tore shit down , and lease purchased another one......but......

Got a conventional mortgage on the first one and rented it out ta make the payments......and built equity with somebody else payin for my house while I was growin my ass off in the basement of the next one........

Never were the home`s in my name while I grew in em , so forfeiture and seizure didn`t mean dick ta me........Where I live in Hell if caught with 1 plant or 100`s wouldn`t make a difference.......

After 8-9 yrs of no worries with lease purchases , my balls got bigger and I started buyin foreclosures and fixin em up with the homes IN my name.......Can we say MORE paranoid ?............

One thing that helped me through was knowin I was a 1 man show and couldn`t snitch me out......Still kept the 1 yr per location Rule # 1 and after that yr the homes were fixed up and went on the market for sale or were rented out ........then.....on to the next one......

To stay safe you haveta be small and not make any ripples on the water when you walk across it.......LOL......I was fortunate enough ta wash my cash through depreciation on equipment and normal deductions on small construction business bullshit.....of course there were the jobs that "lost money" to "lower" taxable income ......

You`re only as successful as those yas surround yourself with......in the real world........Out here in cultivation land I trust me.........and gotta say it`s helped me sleep at night for many yrs........Loose lips sink ships , and 3 can keep a secret if 2`s dead and gone.........

Might be diff in Medville with conglomerates/collectives and employees but not round my parts.......I`m shutdown and retired for over yr and a half .......The only reason I`m spillin my guts now is to hopefully help some folks here that have good DIY skills and wanna do better for themselves.............

There are ways ta do this butchas gotta stay "small" .......

It all adds up after awhile believe me.......Equity keeps buildin and before long , yas got buncha real estate paid for and it`s payin YOU...........

I`m a broke `ol fart , but my shit`s paid for and my boy`s gonna be left well off.......

Ya`ll take care.....DHF......:ying:....

I worked in high school with a house flipper, can't say that I am great with my hands as I only did it during the summer but this has always been my plan. I would love to hear more about your advice on this. Maybe a bit more on how you went about choosing houses, working the paperwork, making sure the landlord wasn't stopping in on you etc.

When I took possession of the houses , I immediately changed the locks Bro.......

I also lived on my farm and not where I grew....EVER......too paranoid.......

Told Owners that I was doin it as an investment , as well as having a place in town ta crash at if I chose not ta drive 80 miles to the house during the week since my Biz was in town...........

Discretion and not saying anything more than what`s necessary got me a long way.......I type like a mutherfucker , but I`m pretty short winded in person.......Has kept me safe many yrs.......

Peace........DHF.......:ying:.....Edit......Only bought homes with basements.......Built a wall from the front to the back 12' out from in the ground and had at least 350 sq ft ta play with as in clone/mom/pre-veg areas , a lung room for conditioning the air , with 2 flip rooms always 12 on and 12 off......HTH...

Thx for the inpuf dhf...when you say small what type of total watts are you talking? love the realestate tip...without asking to much, if you dont put it in your name do you want it in a companys or another persons?

D

DHF

When I said small I meant no more than 1 man can handle once a week , not total wattage per location ......With krusty buckets it cost a bunch power wise with 2 rooms but they paid off at 10 lbs per ....

For many yrs nothing was in my name while I was runnin krusty buckets and buncha powerbill with all the bells and whistles ta feed tha beast......

Heathie Robinson showed me the way with smaller flip rooms side by side a month apart in age for regular harveys .....Took more plants per room , but was way easier ta manage with ebb and flow buckets that practically grew themselves and was waaaay less powerbill with same yields and lil better...............

Good luck.....DHF..........:ying:......

The landlord lives in fucking Minnesota, and loves my ass, as I pay my rent like 3-4 months in advance.
Those are the two keys to renting IMO. Find (you don't have to just "luck into") an out of town landlord, and pay in advance.

And the obvious, change the locks and be an otherwise ideal tenant.

I had to help my buddy tear down a six light grow panda plastic and all then stuff it all in a Uhaul truck over night. I say renting is a pain in the ass. In michigan we have land contracts. You buy the house from the owner no bank mortgage involved. Its like rent to own but the deed is in your name unless you re-nig on the deal. I feel thats about the best option. No mortgage no rental inspection build to your hearts content.
