I just wish I can get that kind of yield out of my 250hps cab

Encore - i try to show that you can grow quality buds and get high yields using very basic methods, and the more simple you can keep everything the easier it is to get it right - and more importantly know what factor it is that makes a difference.
i find it best to keep as many things constant as possible and have as few variables as possible.
hi komeropoika, presuming the plants are happy and the roots have plenty of room, the high yields come from getting as many buds in the 'sweet spot' as possible - which for a 250 is between 6" and 12" from the bulb. scrog does this as does LST. to be honest i use quite a bit of LST above my scrog screens too. probably between 6 and a dozen bits of wire helping keep the buds evenly spaced.
StupidBoy - exactly! - as long as the screen is securly attached to the pot then it really helps protect the plant - and mine need it - they get bashed about quite a lot lifting them in and out of the cab as it's all such a tight fit and an awkward space all round
all looking good today. gave the two sourdogs a little comfrey extract as they are at full tilt atm.

Khaleel - nice to see you back! - thanks for the kind words but truth is those screens are pretty battered! also had to notch the corners out due to a 1" x 1" batten that goes down the back corners of the cab. they dont look pretty close up

hey bobbo - thats the million dollar question - i would keep training for at least a week. ideally you want to let them grow upwards after the screen is full and a few days before they 'top out' so you get some nice colas 4-6" above the screen. making the right call on this takes both skill and luck.

lemon thai, 5-6 weeks
and here are the sourdogs, these are getting on for seven weeks now and starting to show signs of ripening, calyxes are swelling and the leaves are starting to fade a little - which is fine by me at this stage.

This is just a suggestion of course, but what I do get a bunch of bamboo garden stakes, cut them to length, & jam as many as needed into my soil when I transplant. I use several different lengths so I can dish my screen. A real stretchy strain gets a string tied to the center of the screen which is anchored to the bottom of the pot. Just my .02

SB- i agree that tying the screen down is a good move if it isnt quite rigid (which mine are) i used to support the screen with bamboo canes too. the nice lip on these pots im using now lets me screw the legs to the pot and i find that a bit stronger.

this post is copied from my micro thread but relavent here to all that have temp challenges
as for temps it is freezing here in the UK atm, and growing in the loft is like growing in a shed or garage as far as extremes of temp go. here is a brief description of how i keep temps even. they are 65-70 atm which isnt too bad, bit low but fine.
firstly and foremost i have the intake for all my cabs (one 5" intake for all) in the ceiling of a built-in wardrobe/cupboard in the master bedroom of the house - and obviously this means the air is of a much more comfortable temp for the plants, but that is not enough - there is a 2'x1'x1' box which the air goes into first and this has 2 60 watt tube heaters in it which warms the air further before it goes into my mum cabinet which is an old kitchen wall cupboard. the lights in here help warm the air a bit more and there are 2x4" out-takes in here, one each for my two led microcabs (the old 63w one which is now a veg cab and this new 104w one with the hazes in) the air is ducted into the top of the cabs to harvest the heat from the LED lights before it hits the plants. the 104w LED also kicks out much more heat than the 63w - which is useful atm but also means that the LED's will degrade quicker). finally the air is ducted from the bottom of both the LED cabs and into the 250w hps cab. in here is the single 4" temperature controlled inline fan and can filter - the temp controlled fan is very useful because it reduces the flow in lower temps, allowing the air to warm up more as it goes through the cabs and heating chamber. lastly, the cabs are all in an insulated 'room' at one end of the loft so the heat from the hps ballast and exhaust also heats the 'room' that the cabs are in. i say room but really it is a curtain of insulated silver bubble wrap that i pull aside to access the cabs. the roof is also well insulated in this 'room'
thats how i do it. if it gets really cold i also put a tube heater in the cupboard in the bedroom ( this cupboard also serves as my drying area because the smell gets sucked into the cabs and through the can filter
