okay,so i have a major infestation.there are spider webs on my buds, went away hunting for 9 days and ...BOOM!i could not believe it.i have a bomb for the fuckers, but will it affect my buds, they are getting pretty big now.any suggestions?i had mites last year about the same and i sprayed the plants.the harvested buds had a wierd taste and smell, but i smell the same thing now and i did not spray.is it possible that the smell is from the mites themselves?i need help today!!

had some prob like this before too. how about taking the plants to the sink or tub for a plain old bath/shower. if not can you get a pump spayer with wand and just wash them.

i took some plants down about 10 days early due to webbage this year

i also had a problem like this, once your that far along theres nothing you can do besides ride it out or cut down early, the key is to catch it in veg and DO NOT stop til their gone. I always hit them with the pesticides a week or two before flower. Better safe then sorry.

Don't put poison on your buds!
Webs is too late :(
To slow them down, try colder temps and water sprays. They hate that :p

co2 kills all bugs. if i were u id go in there just crack a 20lb tank and leave return bout an hr later u wont see a bug left alive in there and it will not harm ur plants just dont stay in out of there it will make u sic.

CO2 Fire Extinguishers can be used to freeze off the vast majority, just do not go OTT and freeze the plants themselves.

It seems daft and extreme, but it really does work.

As others have said, not much you can do this late with a bunch of webs.

Next time, be sure to use preventative measures in veg, even if you don't think you need to. Neem is my spray of choice, every 3 days out of direct light.

Be smart about where you dry/hang those plants - the mites will leave the plant as soon as you chop and then they'll just be looking around for another plant to fuck up.

Take a small bucket with some neem solution made up and a sponge. Wash the fan leaves and what not off by hand, this allows you to apply some neem without spraying it on the buds.

It's far too late to use a bug bomb. I'd chop early and focus on ridding them of from your veg.

This thread's almost a month old... I'm sure he's harvested by now. :)

I just discovered mites in my grow, I'm at week 7 right now too, but it's still a relatively minor infestation (just a few plants showing some damage, no webs)... I sprayed down the most seriously affected with Safer soap and rubbing alcohol mix... hoping I can make it another two weeks!

You need greater than 35% CO2

So I set the CO2 meter to 3500 ppm for about 2 hours then had the fan exhaust everything out. WELLLLLLLLLLLLL....... It looks like a spider mite convention now!!:faint: OK so I am thinking that there was enough CO2 to force them from the under branches. SO more CO2 needs to be injected. How do you find the amount to set the gauge at to allow for 35% CO2? WELL I couldn't pass pre-calc so I never made it physics but I found this equation. Maybe someone can add this to those CO2 Calculator pages. But for now i will just try 5500ppm then go from there.:blowbubbles:

As most have said , there isnt too much you can do. We had it bad, with webs covering our buds. I just went in there once a day and would pull them off, vacuum, just get them off. We just rode it out, and it was fine.

But something that i haven't seen people talk about is , you will still have them on your drying buds. We used to hand our big colas from hangers to dry, and the mites keeps on trying to work on the drying buds. This was after trimming/wiping them all off again, and was outside the grow room. It wasnt that big a deal though. After three days they just started dying. The dryer the herb got, the less we saw. JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO BRING THEM BACK INTO A ROOM! They will die without food, but if you bring them back to pants, you will have a big problem

Good luck!

Hey , if you are gonna use co2 then you need 10,000 ppm, in a 10x10x8 room that is 800 cu feet, if you have a co2 flow meter meter on your tank set the ball to 15 and let run for 28 minutes, or you can crank it up some and cut your on time down, the flow meter usually comes with time charts , just be carful not to freeze the entire meter , works like a charm

Thanks... I've been being VERY CAREFUL not to infect my moms and cuttings, which are outside the flowering room (obviously.) Which is not to say that I'm going to succeed, but I am going to spray diligently with <insert product here> while in veg next time, just in case.

floramite is great avid orgaicide i keep a whole arsonal on hand at all times cuz mites build up immunities to certain poisons and sprays designed to killem u have to switch it up but floramite is a great place to start. esp as a preventive it stays in the plant for 6wks do not ever use during flower though

Thanks for that bit of info. I did do a trial experiment and set it at 11-12 on the meter it goes from 1-15. I'm guesing thats times x1000 to make it 1000-15000? I set the timer for 2 hours. It seemed like it made a significant dent but there were some critters still crawling around. My room isn't completely sealed though. The research documents I was reading (skimming) said 35% for 2 hours would penetrate the eggs.
SO from my brief experiments I would suggest that inducing CO2 at a high rate is an effective spider mite killer late in flower :jump:

Some one mention on another forum 2ml/gallon of azamax soil drench as prevention. Sounds a bit better and nicer than floramite.
