so i inspected my plants tightly since they didnt seem to be very happy about something - i checked them and today i found thrips - many of them.

so im lucky since my clones are not rooted yeat and my mommys should be easy to manage ... my plan was to fight them with nicotine only:

mommys:
- dip them in a nicotine solution
- water them with nicotin solution
- put them into nicotine vapor

clones:
-dip them in a nicotine solution
- put them in nicotin vapor

just tried the vapr method and it seems to be working effectivly

so here is the question: do thrips adults put eggs in my NFT System??
i hope not!!!!

Spinosad!

What he said! Monterey Garden Spray or similar is incredibly effective, I'd use it 3x, 1 week apart, although honestly after the first application (just make sure you thoroughly spray the tops and bottoms of the leaves) they're probably gone. The shit rocks!

One other thing... I've used this in conjunction with a paper plate (or similar) "collar" over the soil... this helps break the life cycle, as the larvae drop from the plant to the soil and then "grow up" in the soil... blocking the larvae from reaching the soil is 1/2 the battle!

Good luck, although I don't think you'll need it- one of the easiest pests to eradicate.

P.S. Oh yeah, and it is OMRI certified 100% organic!

Spinosad all the way do NOT use a tobacco based spray, that is old knowledge and is no longer applicable. Spinosad and its solved, plus its totally safe to use, no chemicals or human poisons, I mean nicotine is one off the deadliest compounds known to man.

Yes i agree - its one of the most agressive poisons there is. But the Nicotine solution im not going to drink! My Plan is to put 3 cigarettes in a 2 Gallon bucket - so i would have to drink all 2 gallons at once to actually die. The nicotine which is absorbed by my motherplants roots, i dont mind at all since im just taking clones of her not flowering them out nor eat them. my cloney are prety small but i would be carful and dip them in my solution and wait a little - after them dip them in clean water.

i have some chemicals im going to get begining of next week - those were pretty effective in killing mites

Risking getting TMV is no joke! I've got it in my garden and IT'S NEVER GOING AWAY....EVER! At this point all I can do is deal with it.
I would have to move and get mostly all new equipment to hope to get ride of it.

I've got thrips right now (that's how I came across this thread), I'm heading off to get some Monterey Garden Spray right now!

don't know about gnats, here's what I found
there was recently around 3 threads on gnats.
id suggest placing perlite on the top of your soil. they dont like that stuff. also potatoe slices, replacing every 3 days. the larvae eat this and it destroys thier insides, giving them no chance to survive.

neem isnt the best with them. they have tons of specific gnat sprays out.

they are annoying, luckily they dont do much damage.

Gnatrol is the best stuff to control fungus gnats. If you cannot find Gnatrol, use Mosquito Dunks. They both have the same active ingredient. Gnatrol

findout what the active ingredient of Gnatrol or Mosquito and just find it in europe if you don't have these products.
