Underrated and Overloked Strains

If I remember correct Mikado was either bred from sweet pink grapefruit, or was a pheno of it that was stabilized, it was noted for its ability to preflower, which made it easy to sex at an early age. Grew like a sativa and smoked like an indica, was used as a cashcrop strain in B.C. for years, large yeilder, excellent smoke.
I think you can still find it. But definitely fits the criteria of seldom seen strains.

I got this cut by mistake and it kills it. It s wicked fast 45 days, has a strong sativa type high, and is fffrrrosty. It really smells like puke if throw up could ever smells/taste this good. On top of that it is suitable for outdoor in the north and has a beautiful bonzai look about it. anyone growing this??

These have already been mentioned, but I have to reiterate:

- Sweet Tooth #3 (my girlfriend's favorite!)
The Sweet Tooth which has been backcrossed several times to it's Sweet Pink Grapefruit mother and is fathered by a very special blueberry usually fully preflowers (or sometimes more) at 3 or 4 weeks old from seed under constant light, some males even go into full flower. I have seen phenos of Sweet Tooth done at 6 - 7 weeks, totally done.
Then again, someone I knew years ago had an original SOL Shishkaberry mother that was totally frosty, extremely fruity and funky, done in 38 - 40 days flat. One time it was even pulled at 5 weeks and looked like other strains normally do at 8 - 9 weeks! Amazing shit man and hard for people to believe herb that good can flower that fast but it does.
I am pretty sure mikado is still available if you look hard enough. Mikado is a bx4 to sweet pink grapefruit clone. First pic is grapefruit pheno half way through flower...second pic is the raspberry pheno.
White grapes I agree with you man... I smoked this stuff for six months straight and could not grow tired of it killer potency with mouthwatering flavor. The genetic will stay alive.... its not going away even if fed doesnt produce it.

I obtained some of the last Mikados from Gypsy before Ziggy took Federation hiking off into the woods. Bred these into f2's about a year ago and since have a swag of beans in my collection. An amazing strain in so many respects and definitely overlooked and hard to beat when you consider how many fronts it wins on...
Really fast flowering (6wks clones/8weeks seed plants), tightest rock hard crystal coated buds, hugest yeilds, abundant lateral growth, excellent vigour, indoor/outdoor, astonishing root development, pre-flowers early in veg, performs well under low light levels, great potency, uplifting euphoric high for an indica based strain, amazing moutwatering flavour and smell, smooth smoke...what more can I say?!

I can't put into words how much that would mean to me if you do that.
Those that have never grown or smoked Mikado don't know what they are missing.
Those that have grown and smoked it do, and at least around here miss it something fierce.
Even the almost Mikado I'm growing now kicks ass and is preferred by many over the diesel's.
Then when I tell them it's only about 75% Mikado in taste and high their jaws just drop.
Please, please, please put some beans on the bay

I'd love to latch onto a good Mikado male to cross with my White Grape.

Fed used to make a mikado rom cross.... I havent seen those beans for sale.... I imagine it went out of production a while ago.
Yesterday afternoon an old friend and I were reminiscing over a pot of tea, and our conversation went back to "the JT Bud" more than once. 20 years ago when we were kids we used to get this really consistent, super amazing outdoor from a local whose dad had been growing the same line for years. He had a really secure hillside plot that he rocked year after year with amazing results. Don't know if it was from clone or seed, but it was always consistent - big, conical Christmas tree-looking buds with vibrant red hairs and the scent of baked apples. It was extremely euphoric and up, totally happy and social. This was back in the late 80's/early 90's, well before I was aware of the differences between genetic lines, so we never asked what it was, we just knew November was our favorite month because that's when the JT hit town. According to our friend, Dad had already been growing it for 10 or 15 years at that point. I would absolutely LOVE to get ahold of this old California line, whatever it was.
Malawi - I'd love to see that used more. Never smoked it pure, but I've isolated some Malawi phenos from some hybrids, and it is some expansive shit, head-wise. Very trippy and spatially strange, but extremely useful at the same time. One can work all day long with a Malawi head.
The Kerala is another completely underrated line. I've been thinking about grabbing some GN Shagadelic, only because I can't find any pure Indian at the moment. Tom Hill has dropped a few hints that he may do a seed run of his North Indian line, let's all keep our fingers crossed.
The Thunk freebies that went out a few years ago - anyone who took the time to do these right understands, I don't need to tell you. I still remember the Thunk haters, and all sorts of people complaining about getting them as freebies. Feel free to send them my way, it's some of the nicest smoke I've grown in a while. Just takes some work and patience, that's all. Good yields when run from clone and put into bondage. Looks like schwag until you scope it and see the liberal coating of tiny resin glands, and the second it hits the grinder everyone within 10 feet knows something special is about to go up. It smells so spicy, fresh and clean. It lifts you up like a feather, gives you a sweet hug, then completely takes your mind away. The Thunk has blown many minds in my circles.
Probably the top of my list of underrated genetics - Richard Williams' Deep Congo. I have no idea why more people aren't growing it, it's been available at Seedboutique forever. A union of two very old lines - pure Congolese Sativa mom crossed in an open outdoor pollination with 5 different pure Deep Chunk males. A true F1, but split into 5 parallel lines so there is some variation. In 25 years of regular smoking, with years of free access to every 'elite' California has to offer, the herb from my current Deep Congo F1 keeper is among the best I've ever had, hands down. It's filled with rhythmic energy, perfect for the performing musician. Has a smell like no other, with notes of capsicum pepper, onion, potato, sage and myrrh, soaked in dirty mop water. The hash is full-melt golden snot with an enormous sage/forest flavor. And the potential for sublime variation in the F2 and beyond is enough to keep the astute selector busy for a long time. Deep Congo is the shit.
