Yeah man! I feel alot better, just that confidence that I won't be all queasy and nauseated
in the mornings makes me feel free some some shitty disease. Like I kicked the cold!

You are so right, and the funniest thing is no one thinks they are an alcoholic..because society also puts a huge taboo on that word. In my opinion there are many kinds of alcoholic. Most people would quickly admit to being coffee-holics, chocoholics, but alcoholic? no way, not me,. "those people are wife beating, drunks who pass out all the time..." is what people usually imagine when they think of an alcoholic...

So the other night I went to a K'naan show. Really cool show, at a local bar. Everyone was drinking those draft ales mmm. Someone actually turned to me and asked "Are you drinking water?" with a bewildered look on their face. I looked at their hands and they had PBR tall boys hahaI couldn't believe it haah, I had to explain myself? that was a firstl.. Told them I loved strong ales and wine, but the alcohol in it is poison so I quit LOL "I only smoke now, and I smoke alot of herb when I get withdrawals." AHAHHA, it was a great show, I didn't feel alone though in my soberness, which was cool. There were some Somalians who came to see K'naan and most were drinking sodas, so I didn't feel alone ahah.and when my friends ordered beer I went outside and smoked some meds to relax and the rest of the show was sweet, once you have a conviction to quit, a real reason, it's easier.

I had some friends over for football the other day and one of my friends who always drinks drank his sixer of Newcastle as usual and after a while started smelling of like formaldehyde, you know that chemmy smell? That emanates from bars like creeping death ahaha..anybody smell that shit before on an alchys breath? No wonder my wife didn't like kissing me when I was drinking, and her not, that shit is toxic smelling!!

Speaking of toxic smells, this is my favorite OG of all times I think, I think Calcio will agree...

Fire OG 40 days - another 25 or so to go...m m m m mmmm

I considered using opiates on a daily basis to be an addiction.... I simply meant that for those who find it to be a less than productive environment that it is more than possible to stop using your drug of choice on your own. When I did go to those few meetings I felt that everyone there was dwelling on the past when they should have been accepting their mistakes and moving forward without constantly gazing at their former selves shortcomings.

I'm glad someone responded to what I said as addiction is a fascinating subject to me. I played with fire, I got burned and I moved forward. It seems a lot of others tend to make it more complicated for themselves. I've had this conversation with friends and family many times before and I just gotta let that one be I suppose.

Honestly, I feel in a way we are saying the same thing, just differently.:dance013:

You are right. It is an addiction. All I really meant was that since you were able to see your own problem and fix it. You do not really fit the "AA" definition of an addict.

If people are just sitting in a room whining and bitching about their lot in life without trying to apply a new style of action to the problem. Damn straight, they are making it harder on themselves. They are going to AA, they aren't working a program.

Most people take the first three steps of the program. They are so easy. Makes a person feel real good about themselves. Cause after step three, it says you aren't really in control anymore. So people get stuck there. They get stuck I feel because they let a higher power take control of life. What they forget is that they are still the navigator. And the directions say to take step four. Step Four is a real bitch for most people, myself included.

It reads a such. "Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves."

Most people don't move past this step. Which leads them to be dry drunks much like you described. Which is just like it sounds. Acting just like a drunk, but not drinking. I personally would rather be out drinking than a dry drunk. If you're going to torture yourself, might as well have a little fun.

I love these situations now. Have fun with them my friend. Why not fuck with a drunk man's minds. So much fun. Or can be really annoying.

once you have a conviction to quit, a real reason, it's easier.
You are so fucking right my friend!!! Its not just easier, its down right impossible not too. Once you have your spiritual awakening, the true desire to drink will be gone. Like you have said. You still think about drinking in certain situations. It just takes time to break the mind of the habit.

Do you realize that this thread alone helps keep you and others such as myself sober? I so look forward to reading and replying to the new post here. Its inspiring to read how other people are dealing with there problems. Not just bitching about them. Thank you everyone for helping keep me sober today.

So I am posing a question to all you non drinkers. What is your take on an alcohol based tincture? Is it off limits to those of us who can not handle alcohol, or is the alcohol just a carrier for the THC? I was recently offered some alcohol based tincture and turned it down. I felt it was off limits to me at the moment. I also feel that is some of the fear learned from the people in AA. After thinking about the situation and talking with my GF. I feel its more a person by person thing. If I start taking full shots of tincture, maybe its not for me. I feel compelled to try though. What do you guys think about it?

....Mr Simpson if you must question.....it is not for you. That question... is that beast my friend. Leave that be.

The Pablos - I know just what you mean my friend. That the drinking thinking is just the monkey trying to drink.
So you dont think we could place it in the category with mouth-wash maybe? While I know that you spit mouth wash out. A certain amount of alcohol is going to soak into the blood stream there. Tincture is basically the same idea. Or at least in my mind. Mull it over a little more The Pablos. If you still feel the same I completely respect that.

Hey Homer....I have a big old jar of brandy based tincture....and I use mouth wash.....I'd still use the tincture...but I don't feel physically dependent on alcohol....never did. Everyone is different.

Tinctures are easy to keep doing...I've taken a dropper bottle to a football game....and went through the whole bottle lol...it's pretty nasty smelling and taste terrible. Maybe it's just me...lol....

If you feel you want to use tinctures...go for it....mine has been sitting for a 1 1/2 yrs....looks pretty gross and smells grosser.

I actually could see peeps doing shots of the stuff....they would be wrecked but....the lure of the base....might drive them to it...if they were that dependent. Once they get the warmth in them...well...not going to a good place.

I want to help you all...so...being supportive....I think it would be better to make a tincture out of a different base....that would clear the conscience....so to speak. My opinion....if risk out weighs the gain....don't do it.

Physical activity is a must...even when I was drinking....I was always in shape....I'm a distant runner....on forest trails...and beer is made for running. I used to drink two beers immediately after a run....carbs...little buzz to go with the run buzz...smoke some pot...like a narcotic. Now...I enjoy a Virgils Cream Soda after a long one.....and smoke me weed...lol....replace my sugars...let my mind drift.

Stay in shape....very important for mental health...it gets you way high in a healthy way.

Diet....cut out the shit..no refined sugar (my cream sodas are expensive...but all natural)....I eat meat once a week....diet is extremely important...and with exercise and no alcohol...it might amaze some...how good you will feel in a short time. Grow your own food if you can.....get away from the corporate farming...back to basics. Eat (like you are) poor...it is the healthiest way to eat. It makes a huge difference....I tell you no lies. It's about feeling good...very simple.

I've trained my entire life....I once shared an 8 ball of good coke with a friend....partied into the night...ran the La Jolla 1/2 marathon the next day. I was pretty sick....back in those days...but could always answer the bell. I thought it was funny.....now I cringe...it disgust me to even think of it. Still I did it...and I accept that I did.

I'm a hard ass....I have no mercy....but I want to help you guys....as I hate to see peeps miserable and living in lies. Don't let additives control your lives....it will never quit fucking you over.

u guys should take all your money that u spend on booze and invest in the best tonic erbs from chinesse medicine, id be brewing up pots of reishi mushroom, cordyceps muchroom, goji berri tea and drinking this stuff daily and see what happens to your mood, your immune system, your lung power, your libido, and last but not least your eyesight. of all the erbs id be consumeing REishi like theres no tommorow, food is information and mushrooms are in the 80 percentile with sharing similar dna to us, food is like 16 percent, awakeing your immune system. i wish u all the best, i dont mean to flatter myself and not show compassion n just be like ''drink some fungi tea'' but yeah drink some mushroom tea yall, you be so glad u did, mother fuck gnc and salads, get on real powerful shit!!!

remember if u eat all meat n drink cokes then your going to crave alcohol by nature since the alcohol opens the cells that constricted from your poor diet choices, i cant stress this enough. try drinking a juice made from celery, carrots, parsley n dandelion greens 3 times a day and see what happens to your bodys sense of peace, as well as any emotional anger u have which gets held in are livers will be lessoned after u take that huge shit from drinking this mix as the bitter greens move the bile-

I support all alcoholics wanting to quit, if theres any alcoholics out there, and i mean it from the bottom of the endless empethatic rhythmic beats of my heart,

i support you,
in this support thread

What's up guys, another day and no alcohol, I still think of how great ales and wine tastes, but don't feel the need to buy or consume it necessarily. I am grumpy as fuck and irritable though the last 2 days and I'm sure it has to do with withdrawals..I'm also getting a cold, so it also helps stopping easier because I feel like sleeping only and not consuming anything at all, even food sounds crappy..

Dude, sounds like me to a T. I run every day almost, and even when I was drinking I'd do exactly as you say, and boy what a nice feeling of alcohol + endorfins/adrenalin + herb...in the short term that is, seemed like the shits, gas, hypoglicemia etc would kick my ass the next day..

So hilarious how we traded beers for carbonated "decadences" like sodas LMAO. I NEVER drank sodas and was so proud of it, even drinking beers etc..Now I love Root Beers and cream sodas AHAHAH, coconut water is the BEST after a run, I drink 2 of those ONE coconut waters in the cartons...Did you ever run the Carlsbad 5000? That's a fun one!

Thanks KUK, the thing is many people don't realize they are alcoholics, they figure they are like the rest of society. The ones that do is because they see themselves getting poisoned before it's too late.. I remember a co-worker looking at me bewildered and worried asking me if I thought drinking a sixpack every night was bad..back before I used to drink as often and thinking to myself "How can a guy drink like that?" then a few years later it was me drinking almost a sixer every other day...erg no more of that nonsense..

So many good herb choices to make me happy and unwind, no need to poison myself and act a fool while doing so.

im not even a big drinker your makin me want to quit!!!!!!good job Young!!!!!my poison is tobacco!!!! I quit smokin the the crap a year ago!!! still chew that nicotene is a bitch!!!KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK and stay healthy

Young...I've never run that race. The last 2yrs I've run nothing but trails. I started running in old skool Vans and toe socks. $20 bargain bins....at the Van outlets. It is pretty close to barefoot....I think more so than the toe slip ons (Vibrams).....anyway you must train your feet and they do take hits. I've been training for Ultras in this fashion...back to basics....don't wear much more than shorts and a water belt.

I don't roll my ankles as much....don't drill on my joints..use my bodies natural suspension as there are no pads/cushion. My feet have physically changed...I'm barefoot as much as possible. Takes a while to get used to this method....but I'll never buy a running/trail shoe again.....they are almost a sin to your body....that cushion is detrimental....especially the padding on the heels...

I live in the back country of So Cal....lots of mnts...lots of heat...snakes...pretty free. I'd just finished a 10 miler when I posted yesterday lol....I was still feeling the aftermath. The thresh hold for pain is more or less....the game in going distant. I'm not fast....but I'm willing to sacrifice myself to the run....very liberating and there can be no lies....you either pull through or you don't. No GPS...no cell phones...no safety nets. I can't express enough....how much I love running free in the mnts....holding only myself accountable for success or failure.

As far os the sodas....I just got into the cream sodas....no caff...no refined sugar....but I'm not sure I'm substituting. I was watching the History Channel and they had a segment on custom sodas....like elite strains....and I remembered how much I love vanilla...so I decided to try Virgils....like candy...and yes...a taste of Heaven like they advertise. Goes great with weed lol. Great for after runs. Coconut water....I get it in the can....awesome stuff....I agree....had one yesterday lol....had a cream soda at the trailhead and a coco water at home....

On the subject of sodas (the more commercial ones)....terrible for you....sure we all know that....if you are looking at health peeps...avoid these.

I never picked up on cigs....but used to dip Copenhagen for years when I was working in the forest. Yet when the season was over...I'd stop....never had a physical addiction to that either....however if I was cutting wood...I'd naturally want a dip. It was a woods thing I guess. Once in a great while....I'll put in a fat lipper.....but not often. Gnarly stuff....probably stronger than cigs...nicotine wise.....and nothing taste like Copenhagen...very original.

Stay off the sauce my friends...stay strong.....P

To some, it's a life long struggle. One day at a time.

Have you ever been to an AA meeting?

Problem drinking is often in isolation. If one drinks alone, others don't see their dependency. AA is a place for potential alcoholics to meet, discuss and just as often confess before non-judgmental peers.

If you see bitching about "their" lot in life, I'd suggest you're not an alcoholic and don't belong in those meetings. Or..

you're in advanced stages of dependency. It's always possible your meeting coordinator doesn't channel group focus well.

Yes I go to AA meetings. Not on a regular basis. But when things are getting out of control and I feel I am unable to get grounded. I get my ass to a meeting.

Whats up guys, man, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the worst for sure. No alcohol for like 2 weeks now and I definitely crave it still. Went to Costco and the wines looked so good. On the way there it was hard because I knew I wouldn't leave with 2 or 3 bottles of some expensive wine..but then I remembered my favorite safe access dispensary and spent the money on some Herojuana OG, and I easily forgot about the alcohol. Made dinner, detailed and waxed the wife's car, did a million things. If I was drinking I would just be chilling, maybe make some food and that's it. Smoke 30 bongloads..alcohol is the worst. Instead I smoked 3 before dinner to help get me hungry and then 3 afterwards for the digestion, what an amazing herb to lift that heavy feeling after eating if you have digestive issues. I am satisfied with much less her herb when I am not drinking. I also stop to think of all the reactions and things I wouldn't do when under the effects of alcohol, so happy I don't drink, but it still temps the heck outta me.

Pablos man, I always think about converting to running barefoot or with those crazy looking shoes with toes, but they look so gay ahhaha.I know that it is a different kind of running, you distribute your weight differently. Cheap Vans huh....
I ran 8 miles easily the other morning in record time. I didn't get all hipoglicemic near the 3rd mile like I did often the next day after drinking. I also don't get stomache aches and stuff, I think it was from the acidity of the alcohol and wine. I'm so stoked, I never ran better! However my bronchitis is a biatch! ahaah I also fucked up and didn't stretch well after this particular run, and my shins are killing me. I neverhad shin splints or whatever they call them, but man it hurts to walk ahah. dude while we're on the health issue. I don't get all the digestive issues, and my breath I'm sure is much better. My immune system is way better too, I'm sure, I got a cold the other day and managed to kick it fast.. No more waking up all heavy headed, no more acting a fool with glazed looking eyes on weekends ahah, the benefits of not drinking definitely outweigh the moments of getting buzzed on alcohol. The withdrawals suck! I get irritable as fuck sometimes and the craving and psychological cravings are tough. Fri-Sun definitely are the hardest.
Sex is also so much better without drinking too, alcohol numbs the nerves and feelings. When you only use Cannabis your senses are intensified and you live, alcohol numbs you to life...

Here's some Pre 98 Bubba at day 40, still needs to fatten up hehe
