When the driver pulled across the Freeway, he got out, took the keys, and got into another car and left--

Cali Rappers Halt Traffic for Performance Atop Tour Bus

A relatively unknown "hardcore hip-hop" group from California entitled Imperial Stars were having trouble getting noticed before October 14. Their Los Angeles gigs weren't yielding the sort of fan base that they desired, so they came up with a bizarre marketing tactic. Imperial Stars parked a bus across three lanes of traffic on the 101 Freeway in Hollywood, gave the keys to someone that ran off and then performed an impromptu set on the roof.

The ridiculous stunt was to promote their new single, 'Traffic Jam 101,' and the band ended up under arrest while the California Highway Patrol attempted to clear the gigantic van with their logo and imagery. At one point, traffic had backed up into the San Fernando Valley. We're not sure if that's the right way to make new fans, but now people know who they are.

"This type of behavior is not acceptable," said Patrol offer Terry Liu. "Our officers were tied up on scene trying to handle this while they could have been handling other business or other emergency incidents occurring nearby but instead they were stuck having to deal with this."

The band -- Keith Richard Yackey, 31, of Las Vegas; Christopher Roy Wright, 32, of Garden Grove; and David Paul Hale, 30, of Stanton -- were booked for disturbing the peace, resisting or delaying a peace officer, conspiring to commit a crime, and unlawful assembly. They were released from custody later that same day.

Imperial Stars aren't all that horrible, though. They have pledged that all the money they earn from single sales on 'Traffic Jam 101' will be donated to the non-profit organization Homeless Children America.

Think of the emergency vehicles that couldn't get to people in time because of these lame-ass losers. I hope they're made examples of.

I hate rush hour and/or a traffic jam. I would be HOT sitting in that bullshit. Their album would be one used to roll blunts on not even to listen to. What sounds funnier is an UNKNOWN rap group is donating all their money to charity...what a crock of shit! I thought rappers were in the rap game to make money????

I wouldn't go that far, I actually hope they don't get in that much trouble. While I hate traffic, and the feeling of being stuck somewhere, what they did is pretty epic. They have balls, and I respect that.

it was an epic fail. the jerk driver took the keys to the truck with them. their music sucks too and they are only donating half the proceeds of one song to charity. they deserve no more attention.

Yes, they played their song, SCF--
I figured on the rest of the reactions..lol--
Nobody died, waiting for an ambulance....some ppl got mad...some ppl laughed....and I am sure some just said "Fuck it", and smoked a bowl--
I'm sure the press they got helped them-- They are somewhat new as that group...but at least 1 of them has been around in the underground scene for quite a few years-- Anyway, just the thought of all the ppl that were sitting there, mad as hell...unable to do shit...well yeah, that kinda makes me chuckle--:)

These guys are in their 30s. LOSERS. Not to mention only the first 100 or so cars they delayed were able to absorb the performance. They probably wasted more money in gas fumes than their single will ever hope to generate.
