For All The Pitbull Owners/Lovers Out There

pitbulls die everyday because people would rather buy from breeders than look to shelters. ive saved over 10 pitbulls from death and i reccomend you all do the same. at my shelter there are currently 35 pitbulls and 5 of them might get saved. thats 30 beautiful dogs that will wind up dead. it makes me fucking sick.

i rescued a staffordshire bull terrier off a guy that used
to keep him in a little cage all day every day.
when i had him he was great with humans but with
other dogs-boy was this dog game.
because this dog was treated good with me and the wife
if anyone approched my wife in a unconventianal manner
ie, having a carry on/playing around it was at her side like
a shot.
the only thing i did not like was its pure aggresivenes
to other dogs,it could be taking a dump and if it seen another
dog it would try and get it mid stream.
i only get pups for this reason now as you never know
the back ground and difficulties that could pop up.
it was hard work finding dog free zones every day.
i know they do temprement tests at pounds but
you still never know for sure.

I own 3 apbt's, all papered. One a Colby pit, which is about as close to original genetics as you can get. Have a blue female, comes from champion lines, and a Gottiline male who is awesome. My point is all are healthy, and have great tempermate. Now my cousin had a newspaper pit who was also great, he has 2 daughters, and a wife, all of which watched him have a heartattack in there living room. I had a giant blue male who had horrible allergies. Could have plastic around, had to have all natural food, and tons of meds, he died at 3 from a heart attack. My buddy has a blue female whose 5. She's been blind for 3 years. So I'd say if ya don't mind being heart broken, save the $$$$, but if ya want one for 10-15 years, then fly to Cali, hook up with one of the top kennels, (xtremebullypits, Ironmanpits, westcoastgottline) and you'll have a giant goofball with perfect structure.

Wow..That was a streak of bad luck.Sounds like my familys luck for the last 10 to 15 years.but as far as dogs..I have known people that bought dogs (papered and un-paperered) and had them die all of the sudden.I havent ever had a problem though. If a person gets the cheapest dog they can find then..yes,I would think problems might follow.

My dogs were bought in the Detroit area.I know they fight dogs there alot.I have no experience with it myself.I think it is cruel. But maybe im somehow getting plugged into their papered dogs genetics that they paid for .....hell I dont know.I have had my male rednose for about 5 years.Raised him from a pup.Never had any problems.

Not trying to offend anybody, but I have to be honest and say that all this about if you buy a dog without papers its likely to die sounds like propoganda.

Hey my staffie the same really, So i know what your saying. But he's great protection for the family and home!! And yea you just got to be careful when walking him. :ying: I know what he is like so i just keep him away from dogs when walking. Yet he as other dog friends. Handled right there is not a issue.

It's just easier to look at the genetics, Ya no. If ya want a pit with lotsa drive, you can go to ironcross kennels and get what ya want. If ya want a mellow monster, (100+lbs) got to extremebullies. I think it's easier to get what ya want that way. But, there'd alot of shady shady breeders out there too, and it's not very hard too lie on papers, so if ya go with papered pits, you're going to have to spend time doin the research. I think you can get good pits from the news paper, just think your odds are better with papers, but ya better fly down and make your pick, cause 5000$ is alot of money, (1st pick purple ribbon).

One more thing on this though.
I've got $15000 in 3 pits, and they are perfect, all over 100lbs, perfect heads, and perfect temperate. Buddy who live a block away has $750 in 3 reds, they're awesome, big, and have great colors.

RL, have you seen the doggy dna kits? are they worth a shit?

If you dog is registered with a Registry that offers DNA testing, do it. It tells you what percentages of certain dogs within your dog carries, it also helps you figure out what temperment or genetic flaws that line has had over the centuries.

I recommend DNA testing for all Registered/Papered Dogs.

I am not even going to touch on the Mr.AK calling 100lb dogs Pit Bulls or calling Blue dogs Pit Bulls.

I am sure American "PIT" Bull Terrier owners will shortly chime in. ;-)

I'm no APBT owner, but I do know a true representation of the APBT breed is NOT 100+ lbs. Sounds like an am bully, not APBT. Huge difference.

Hey reservation, the reason im thinkin my pit isn't purebred is cuz of the shape of its head. Otherwise he's definantly got a pit body, when i first got him he was mistreated and extremely skinny. Now that he's strtin to put some weight on im thinkin he looks more like a full pit more and more everyday. Heres another pic... passed out haha

I believe he is pure. Don't let the head of these AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIERS and AM-BULLIES fool you. Your dog looks like a "true" representation of what a "real" American "PIT" Bull Terrier should look like. These massive dogs with massive heads aren't Pit Bulls.

You seem to really care for your dog and Thank You on behalf of all American Pit Bull Terriers loving the breed.

Please educate yourself on the American "PIT" Bull Terrier. And pass on that education that you learn.

I recommend you purchase one of these books:

I have 4 APBT's, 3 rescues and a gentle, old girl who was my mother's baby until a fire claimed her home, she's 16.5 years old (not a typo) and laying here at my feet as I type.

Here's my boy, I have he and his mother (2.5 and 4, respectively)

I think me may have some American Bulldog in his lines, because of his size (75+)

I agree that the larger abominations of the breed that claim the name is a sad thing.

Most loving creatures on Earth :ying:

Peace,

SSM

Where the american bulldog and pit kept seperate in the past?

Yes they were, They are completely and totally separate lines and should be kept separate. That is if you love the American "PIT" Bull Terrier as a pure breed.

If you live way out in Wilderness Man land and want to create Bandogges then do as you please, but if you are a lover of American "PIT" Bull Terriers please at all cost and by all means keep the from cross breeding with American Bull Dogs.

Somebody told me that you shouldn't feed a pitbull everyday , is that true & if so why!

Your B.S.ing right?! Every dog should of course be fed everyday. A Pit Bull like any "medium" sized dog should be fed twice a day. I feed my American Pit Bull Terriers Kirkland Supreme once early morning before the sun comes up and then again at night. If I am around the house I try to give them a Top Grade Food Snack mid-day. I use Oats mixed Slightly Boiled Beef or Fully Cooked Chicken and Green Beans.
