Wooey,
You say the roots grew into the drainage bucket, did you have any water in the bottom bucket? Is it a trash can? What size drain and how high on your bottom bucket? My tap is pretty alkaline and needs a ton of ph down.My coco girls need no ph adjustment with ro and h&g.On my hydro I am trying Ionic hardwater formula and different ph downs as I have been trying to avoid too much phos. acid in veg.Sulfuric acid seem too strong and was corroding my pumps. Now vinegar keeps rising after a ton of it and causing some foam and weird solids.Im about to try citric acid , as I cant seem to find nitric.Sorry to hear about your hydro problems ,. I am using ngw hose too but no probs yet?Hope you work it out!

Yeah there was a couple of inches of water in there and as it was watered alot i dont think that it would of gone stagnant.. Na they aren't trash cans the are just big pots i got from the hydro store.. I've seen them at bunnings hardware also..

thats a pretty unbelievable yield for two plants...damn... at that kind of yield switching systems should never have been an option...lol ... exactly how do you expect to better that?...lol

lol, yeah everyone says the same thing but rdwc is a much faster and i believe a better way of growing once mastered.. with all the extra oxygen and plants being able to take what they need when they need, how could it not get better results.. well thats what i hope anyway..lol. but its also just something different for me to do and play with..

I wouldn't go looking for mystery causes to what sounds like simple shock to me.

I'd guess they were shocked during the cloning process or the moms weren't in as good health as you think. Nothing you describe sounds off so I'd look for the simple answers then work your way up to toxic room.

Rez temp is quite warm. 60-65 is ideal.
Root chamber temps 65-75 in veg, but closer to 65 in bloom

You better still be dtw. Once they flip to bloom, they dump a shit pot full of crap into the runoff that when reabsorbed (refed) will make them sick, too.

But there is an easier way. Check out my journal

those look very top heavy. props on keeping them balanced!
whenever i get plants that do that in hydro. it is usually overwater/not enuff air to roots.

Quality Growing Mate!
Love to see huge yields of few plants, a refreshing change!!
i wanna know more about this system...

Check for root/stem rot in the hydroton. Keep water level below your net pots. Going from an aero cloner to dwc shouldn't cause any delays. Are your roots through the netpots and into the water yet? If not, that will cause a delay. Water temps should be 70f max.

So how long does it stay in water?
until acid lowers ph, res replaced, or media/substrate (coco) flushed. maybe it may evaporate... or?...
can feed just enough water & ferts that never require ph adjustment, dump res, or do large volume flush. feed-water-feed @ 1/2-3/4 strenth, full nutrient.@ ~1/5+/- volume of container 48hr.

see cation exchange. plants do release h+ ions in exchange for cations, into the media &/or reservoir.

example:
for every 1 molecule of ca++, or mg++ absorbed by roots, the roots release 2 molecules of h+, which can affect over-all ph... & availability of certain elements.
Cation Exchange Capacity in Coco

U are quite correct , see

" Plant roots: growth, activity, and interaction with soils

Been meaning to do more research into Cations & Anion exchange rate , thanks for reminding me mistress . One of the things have noticed with adding mollasses to rez is the high PH that results & the need to add exorbitant amounts of PH down to counter ...this i believe due to the reaction between Ca & sugar molecules resulting in Carbonic acid (?) which then quickly reversing to base Carbonate & high PH . Chemistry is both supremely logical & also a supreme mystery !

We must seek for balance & the happiest mediums. ;)

( and go easy on the sugar !)
