If you have to prune to get more light to slow growing shoots to your bushes you might want to add more light. I don't trim at all and run at 165watt per sq.ft not many places the light cant find them. even if its shaded theirs so many lumens are running in that area they find the sites.

I try to create an environment that supersedes Mother Nature outdoors with her 140 watt per sq.ft and 10,000 lumens per which is generous, and its 400 ppm which is generous as-well. I only cant compete with letting them get 8-10 ft high.

Anyway I never pruned I let them grow as nature intended which contradicts me competing against nature but I just dont think pruning makes a difference as far as increasing yield. I think its just buds you don't get. Keep in mind I said think which means its an opinion as I never trimmed only top due to limited Ceiling which I hate because I feel one enormous main cola would have a higher yield then 2-3, but if anybody has a side by side comparison as proof to show as fact Id be happy to see. Not intended to Hi-Jack Who but I think your leaving this grow untouched for a reason.

thank you birdman !! sounds like youve got ur set up dialed in, and well lit !! im all for pruning lower branches, but the girl who's growing these jack loves every branch and leaf on the plant, so its gonna be tough to get her to clean them up !! i'll keep posting pics when i can and we'll see what they look like i guess ...

Tagged, considering a similar setup. Have you run this setup before? Any yield expectations?

Looks great.

nicoli homie you just read my mind !! i was just thinkin about her yield on these, and for a 1st time grower, shes gonna be lookin at an lb plus i believe...

7 girls from seed, with thick stalk and plenty of budsites, ez 2oz each im sure.

this is a very simple set up, and i believe the environment is spot on. the 6in vortex has odors in check and a fresh supply of air, plus the 10x10 room gives us plenty of volume. the 600w hortilux is completey enveloped in plants, meaning i dont have to squint walking in the room...the bulb is hidden in the growth.

no bugs either woo hoo !!!

Nice, that's kinda what I expected, 2-3zips a pop or so. Look forward to kicking back and learning a thing or two.

Oh one question, how close do you allow the plants to get to the bare bulb before its too hot? Is there a good guideline to follow? Other than temperature ofcourse. I guess if it was a cooltube you could have it almost touching eh? Also you say 10x10 foot print is that the actual footprint of what the plants take up? Sorry for the q's.. just tryna learn some more on vertical. I was thinking about doing this in a 5x5 foot.

Cheers

5x5 would be plenny...the bigger room gives us storage space and room to breathe pretty much. (the plants are taking up only one corner of the room now) if the room is rectangle i like a 2 bulb setup.

i prefer bare bulb over cool tube to get all the light possible. shes letting these run natural without training but i guarantee stakes will be needed with the added weight to come... so we just keep the plants back from the bulb a bit, ya know the trick with ur hand if it feels hot then back the fuck off !! i also check them for heat related damage.

It's filling in nicely man! It's amazing the structure you can get without a screen.

I might grab hold of those soon to be super colas, and supercrop them down closer to bulb level

do you mean bend some tops ?? or tie them ??

the gentle lady tending this garden is very protective of her girls...shes not feeling the bondage love...yet !!

on a few occasions when shes not present ive cleaned up the bases and back sides of each plant. in a few months she'll thank me for removing that leafy larf !!!
