So "Northern Lights cross Skunk #1." It seems kind of weird at first, but it rolls of the tongue. Saying "crossed with" doesn't really. Is there a consensus on the official terminology?
i usually don't say it, as in "this is lemon thai kush"
if i do say it, i'll say it like, "this is lemon thai crossed with kush"
if i do say it, i'll say it like, "this is lemon thai crossed with kush"
BY makes me think of division, "total is $50, there are 3 of us, divide 50 by 3"
professional breeders i have met and know,, and respect,,, would say "by" "taken to" or "crossed with"
that is the consensus imo,, but there is no official term for the process

that's what I did when I read "If you want to get technical" and found it followed by 100% technically incorrect information, I lol'd. Then I tried to help you understand what information is not incorrect.

I see it as multiplication, e.g. a 5 by 5 room (5 x 5).
It's common for breeders in other plant species to say 'BY' as in NL x Haze ie Northern Lights by Haze.
I personally don't use that terminology- I would either say Northern Lights Haze cross or Northern Lights Haze hybrid. I feel these flow better phonetically, but again that's my personal pref.

I guess old habits stick with us. Due to my college studies I tend to use 'by' in verbal communications, e.g. Pakistan Chitral Kush 'by' DTC99.

I'm not a native swedish speaker, our uralic tongue is a agglutinative language and it lacks these little words, av, by, por, pelo and stuff. Translation can get confusing at times.

that's what I thought, by is most often used by professionals working in the field. I do quite like the way Northern Lights Haze hybrid sounds, but wonder how that language would translate into a three or four way hybrid. Nl by haze and Affie by skunk hybrid?
