I am running a 600 20/4 at the mo,scottish power supplying, can anyone give me a rough idea how much an hour i am paying?I am thinking 10p an hour?but that seems a lot, £2 a day, plus fan, soon a rvk100 as well, and a 110w fluoro mother n clone unit, then it will probably approach £3 a day i am thinking, then i would like to add my 400w to the mix but then could it reach a fiver aday?£35 a week!
then my crop would seriously owe me. Any body have some experience with prepayment and a setup like mine please?

im sure i go through £35 a week with 1600w flower room
and 375w in my veg tent plus 8,6,4 inch fans.
i will ask the wife to confirm this when she gets up.

if you have old storage heaters in the house you can get
a different price plan from them, something like price plan 7
i think its called.
you get a cheaper rate from 7pm-7am.

as i say the wife knows how much si i will get back
to you later.

I use about £30 a week with 1700w on 12/12 plus all my domestic stuff hot water and what not . I think 10 p per kw/hr is as cheap as you will get without having a normal meter put in, pre payment meters are always more expensive because of the cost of the system for getting the key or card charged up at the shop .

If you think 10p per kw/hr is bad then consider that some meters charge 22p perkw/hr for a certain amount of units then it switches to a lower rate which is a joke .

yeah....you are going to be looking at 30-35 quid a week......once all the bits-and-pieces are wired up...then you might need heating as it gets colder, would that be on the electric too?

the wife says we do about £40 a week.

my prepay was 14p per kwh ,,average cost for a 2000 watt grow was £40 a week:comfort: ,i never once had a call or query off the electric company about the usage :tiphat:

why do you say that mate?
is that quite noticeable to them?
i do have storage heaters that would eat a load of lecy
but are never on,my house is full electric and the lowest
amp box is 15 amp for one heater the highest is 32 amp
for the older heater.
there are 4 heaters in the house that i could run off.

i was thinking bumping the grow up another 1200w
there seem to be enough outlets i can pull off?

me and my mate are about to set one up at his pad
and i think i have more power running through my heaters
than he has in his whole house, but he uses gas aswell.

to show what a 2kwatt grow cost and that it weren't a problem doing it ,

i considered it high usage in comparrison to my neighbour who averaged £7 a week :yoinks:

i have a pre pay meter and its 10 per kwh with a 1.27 charge per week. A friend of mine has a master key too £50 straight onto the meter for £20, not too shabby but i dont do it or he'd know i was growing.

A friend of mine used 1 of them £50 master keys a couple times i told him not to as ur supplier knows everytime and everyplace u top up its not like the old days where stealing electric was easy sure enough by the time he had finnished an eventually let the meter reader in they sent he a bill for the £billing50/£100 electric that he had never payed for plus could back it up with statements (itemised billing on a prepay meter).. Pre pay meters arent too bad no matter wot electric costs are always gonna be an issue average meter prices are 12p/kwh or 6p/kwh at night not much difference then on a quarterly bill..

Also its not possible to run an outlet off storage heaters they just dont work that way get a cool shade stick a filter on the end of it an use the extractor to heat up ur house i've got storage heaters they're expensive £2 a night for each of them i'd rather spend that money on more lights an then draw the heat offa them..

i think we were on about drawing power from the storage
heaters-taking the cable out of them and putting sockets
on them.
is that what you mean?

So you guys have prepaid electric meters? Kind of like prepay cell phones? If you do not top up does it just cut it off? Why do you use a prepay, and not just get billed? I live in the US, and I am just curious because I have not ever heard of this. Thanks for the replys.

yep they just cut off ,most council/association housing have
them when you move in and i dont know but i think you
have to pay to get a differnt meter in that uses the billing
method.
so a lot of people are on the dole/welfare so they would
maybee have a hard time trying to pay big bills that they
wouldnt keep track of and just bump the electric company.

this is the kicker though-im sure it is cheaper to have
a bill sent quarterly so they are ripping off the poor.

on my part i think its just what im used to now
and i dont plan on being in here to long anyway.

i prefer the prepay method, in 5 years i have yet to see anyone read my meter.
I top it up every week with %50, and never one letter about use,

So for me its alot safer than someone coming to my hose and reading my meter.

I think if you get caught growing and trying to fiddle the electricity, it's a lot more serious than just growing. It's one of those things that's likely to push you across the custody line. I think it's a really bad idea to start dicking around with your meter.
