Looks great, LH... just place a few cheap-o box fans around the garden to increase airflow.

What part/s of Tom's mix do you consider essential to PM resistance?

What part/s of Tom's mix do you consider essential to PM resistance?

the calcium, it helps build strong cell walls that prevent PM from being able to get a hold of the plant. the calcium came from the gypsum/calcidic lime(my addition replacing half of the dolomitic lime)/ cal25 foliar and dolomitic lime. my soil mix is not toms and was limed at around 7lbs per yard and heavily under gypsum'd. i guess the calcidic lime made up for the lack of gypsum.

---

let me try to explain what happened with the soil mix that has almost ruined my indoor-

i had 15 yards of soil mixed up to my specifications at a landscape supply yard. 5 yards were to be unammended with the bone meal and chicken shit from toms recipe. those 5 yards i would use for my indoor because i feed with nutrient teas only for my indoor.

the base mix without the chicken shit and bone meal came out to well under 15 yards. i instructed the guys to lime with my lime mix of calcidic and dolomitic lime at 7lbs per yard, a good medium point between the reccomended 3 and 10lbs, which i felt would be safe.

liming had to be done before the ammendments and pumice were added in order to be able to seperate out the 5 yards for the indoor and not have the pumice suck up the lime.

they laid out the mix sans ammendments/pumice and proceeded to lime to the amount of 15 yards at 7lbs per yard. well without the ammendments youre looking at 12 yards not 15 and when they seperated out the 5 yards for indoor, whose bulk would never be added to with ammendments - i ended up with 5 yards of heavily over limed indoor soil and 10 yards of slightly underlimed outdoor soil (which turned out to be better).

i didnt realize this math mistake and when i checked the ph of the outdoor that had ammendments it came in at 6.8, high but manageable. it didnt occur to me to check my indoor soil ph. so i went right on ahead and planted in it wondering wtf im not doing right until i eventually checked ph (8)

next time i will:

1- get my ammendments together on a timely manner
2- make a sample mix and check ph

nomaad, the way the canopies were built i dont think i'll need to fan the yard, maybe two silver buddahs. being that it was built with pvc pipe like a massive erector set and not a store bought gable system i was able to make the canopies unneven and vented. ventilation and heat build up was a concern of mine goin into this.

so far so good, ive spent a fair amount of time in the yard watching the plants with every breeze and the branches all still move and leaves shake. the real test will be when it rains. my dad with a civil engineering degree and 40 years of construction experience believes ill be fucked come rain. i think hes wrong. we'll see.

thanks Green!

ok so heres my dilemna. My og has been flowering now for about 9 weeks. since about the time i put up the canopies it has been gradually getting more and more droopy. today, in this crazy heat its gotten really bad. at 8 am it wasnt this way. the temp up in the canopy was 105, heres the pic:

I believe this is a heat issue under the canopy. no other plants outside are showing this or any droppage though. this has me concerned after what happened to Nomaads' BD. ive heard ogs do not like heat, that could be the case with this. i sprayed her down a few times today to help cool her off.

either way shes freaked out. last thing i want is some bananas to pop or have her succumb to pathogens in her weakened state.

heres what her buds look like:

the big question: flowering for about 9 weeks. do I pull her? any help on this would be great.

looks ripe to me, don't think she will change for the better, better pull and be done. she looks like she's gonna be tasty. is the soil as dry as it looks in the pic? spraying them down in the sun is not such a good idea. at least if you do that indoors you end up burning your leaves, so i imagine with the sun being even more powerful, it would be the same. that's why people water and spray in the early morning or evening in a normal garden.

The bud looks mostly done. Trich's look cloudy, but I can't tell 100% from the pic. It doesn't look like she's going to bounce back from what I have personal exp with, but Nomaad would be the best person to ask as I only know from in ground plants, not big containers.

oh doh, sorry it's late and i'm stoned. 10% amber is about the correct time. deffinetly don't see her changing for the better at this stage. if you are unsure, then take a test branch and stick a few buds near or on your computer, after 3 days you will be able to smoke the buds and get an idea if you like what they are bringing taste and hit wise.

I would what and see if her condition improves and if not by tomorrow pull her. Sorry to see the troubles, that heat is weird at this time of year. And by all means don't just yank it! LOL

thanks gaius and everyone, i really appreciate the help.

im just gonna pull her. even if it is just the heat, tomorrow will be even hotter so i dont see anything changing for the better. this is good though, now i know for certain the og is not hip to the heat. looking back i do remember that she did always droop slightly when the temps rose - i always thought it was from thirst. definitely a keeper, indoors she rocks. has a ceder smell to her though and doesnt get that uber lemony pine scent typical to ogs ive smoked, i mean its there but not strong. nugs up like og. never once hinted at bud rot so she will be out in the great wide open next season, strong kushes will be under canopy.

its finally summer in almost october. maybe this is a sign that the volcano winter is over :D
