No need to kill any1 for stealing. A nice ass kicking would be good enough. You guys in usa are way too trigger-happy-all-guns-blazing if you ask me. Hell, even tazer him or pepper spray. Who the fuck are you to take a life (not aimed at any1 specific)?

barbed wire electric fence around the garden should work next time, with a barking dog, sig sour, duck tape and a cell phone, too hold the person till police come, most importantly hold the 13 year old kid down and piss on him. with the the sig in his mouth, that if he ever comes inside, he will regret it !

I like how all you gun advocates are talking about shooting someone. It's not easy. Sure, pulling the trigger is, but the aftermath isn't. Even when it's your job to kill, you sleep at night with those faces. Could you sleep at night if you killed someone over a couple of ounces of weed? If so, that makes you just as good as them. That guy who killed the man is just as much as a criminal as the rest.

in your house.... completely different story.

I don't think unarmed rippers should be shot unless they threaten to kill you in the attempt & have the means to do so but they should be beaten very severely and arrested for grand theft just like stealing a car. All this bullshit is a symptom of gov prohibition which has inflated the value of the herb.

The fucking kicker is this > if we shoot the scumbag muthafuckers that we catch trying to rip off our grows they have a right to file a lawsuit against us for their injuries and we become the criminals for trying to live in peace minding our own business growing our personal meds and get caught up in the mix because of fucking low lifes wanting to get what's not their's

I say an eye for an eye mother fuckers > you rip me off and I rip off your fingers from the knuckles down.

Simple solution , if you are lucky enough to posses firearms for your own protection then no permit should be issued unless a proper firearms course is attended & attention to accuracy maintained . Then shoot the bastards in the legs with a shotgun .
Here in the UK we have NO WAY to protect any of our property & ALL CANNABIS IS ILLEGAL . We whack em with a baseball bat we get nicked for assault/grevious bodily harm , the dog bites them we get nicked under the Dangerous Dogs Act & fined or possibly a jail sentence & without a doubt the dog is destroyed . + we are prosecuted for illegal cultivation of a controlled drug .
In the UK we have a choice but if we take retalitory action against ripper scum we are wide open to Police action if the scum inform the police .
Mind you i have a true story about 2 rippers that paid me a visit a few yr ago & they have severe scars to inform them of their stupidity , they have never come back . Sometimes it goes right !!

Stay green .

so thieves should be shot?
How about the 14 year old kid (knows right from wrong) who steals a toy from toys r us? He's a thief, should he be shot. Why are toys and pot different? Why should you be allowed to shoot a fleeing person? Then people would be dropping like flies. People would get shot over everything if you could shoot people in the back and get away with it.

I remember when I was a kid I would put snickers bars in the bottom of my slurpees at 7-11 then fill it up and the clerk would never know. Should I be shot?

retail theft is totally different from stealing from someone personally. retail stores like 711 and best buy have corporate shrink already deducted from their profits. basically they expect to lose 10% of revenue to shoplifting. the employees and managers suffer no loss of money or anything from shoplifters. the guy up top is barely affected, unlike a grower whos entire livelihood depends on his crop.

i used to shoplift when i was young..not too proud of it but at the same time i only stole from megacorps never momnpop.

its not the same as going up to somebody with a gun and stealing their wallet. robbery and theft are way more personal than retail theft. retail theft is coward theft and should be treated as such, with simple punishment.

now a ripper, or burglar, who steals from peoples properties, etc, should be shot on sight. a kid who tries to mug someone for their purse...shoot him. tough lesson. dont rob people. and dont be a softy liberal and compare this to shoplifting they are two different things.

I feel that this perpetrator knew the consequences of his actions. I don't feel bad, one bit for this guy, but also like others stated its just a plant.
I also for got to mention, that the location where these rippers tried to access the backyard, there was a similar sign to the one i posted,stating... Don't Worry About The Dog, Worry About The Owner with the picture of the hand gun. Posted 3 signs every 20 foot on the fence.
I would say this was a clear indication ass to what the consequence could be.

wow, take human life down a notch on the pedestal. life is a cesspool filled with lowly types, i dont have any sympathy at all for someone who tries to steal from me or harm me or my family. how any of you can have such love and peaceful outlooks towards rippers is beyond me.

maybe you havent been robbed before or something. maybe you dont live in crime filled cities that are full of people who would not hesitate to rob you or kill you.

human life means nothing. sure some of its beautiful, but a kid stealing from me just devalued his own life in my eyes. the second he steals from me his life is of no more value, i could care less about his parents or friends. he choose to do harm to someone else..karma is a bitch and she will decide if he gets a baseball bat or a .40caliber hollow point.

the happy go lucky feel good attitudes towards your fellow man are admirable, but please wake up and smell the homeless. oh we are trigger happy gun nuts? no we are normal folk who dont want our property being fucked with, whats so hard to understand about that? that soft mindset towards criminals is the reason cities are overrun with rippers. shit with these liberal anti gun laws, its almost easier to rob and pillage than work for a living!!

This is exactly why prop 19 should be passed, so patients are no longer targets, and so some folks will no longer be considered 'healthy enough to imprison'

I get the feeling that we have a bunch of contributers that have no experience with violent death or the affects of a gunshot. How about the cartel assholes that run people off of their grows with guns - just preemptively taking care of potential rippers, right? This idiot gives gun owners and growers alike a bad name. He easily could have killed an innocent bystander, and all over a plant. I live in the mountains where the cops can easily be 2 hours away, and while the people around here are entirely capable of defending themselves, I think that even the most red-neck of them would be repulsed at the idea of killing someone over a damn plant. Oh, and the situational ethics argument is pretty neat too. This type of theft is allowable, and this one should get the death penalty. Sheesh.

If somebody killed somebody who was stealing water mellons of a farm I'd think it was going too far.

That's more or less what this is, killing somebody of something rather stupid.

yea then that theif runs back and tells his buddies about this easy rip off to come back and steal more. at what point do you draw the line? who knows. as a grower of marijuana and realizing the work that goes behind it its hard to say. one part of me says YES shoot those bastards. another acknowledges that the rippers were running away and he could have just fired warning shots. however what kind of message does that send when no action is taken? just let the thieves have what the want and have their way with your hard work?? retail stores have a pretty soft policy on shoplifters, and this contributes to them getting ripped off all the time. should we have a "soft" policy on home burglars and other theives too? oh its only property and money who cares, that scumbags life is totally worth all the problems he has caused me by ripping off my livelihood.

i have a deep hatred and negative attitude towards rippers. know way too many people who have become victims to shit and it makes me angry. growing up i had a few occasions where thugs would try to rob me, once that happens you loose any kind of sympathy towards a ripper. once you put someone through that kind of pain and violation, you are definately liable for death when karma comes around. if i ever decided to rip someone off, i would fully expect the worst to happen to me.

I think to give a effective answer to this question, some actions of the rippers is gonna play a huge part on what happens to determine if he is going to get shot. If I got a crop in my back yard and some punks are ripping it, I come out with the gun , they run, they live.... Even if they got my precious ladies still in their hand. But if they come running at me, or give me the impression they are going to hurt me or my loved ones (Human beings of course) they get shot. Simple.

Simple theft does not deserve death. Take it beyond simple theft and things get s little fuzzier. BTW I support the NRA.

Disguised

at what point do you draw the line?

You draw the line when they enter your home. You can't legally shoot somebody for being in your yard. I once had a cop tell me that if you shoot somebody in your yard, you had better drag them inside your house.

If it had been me - I would have gone outside and tossed the ripper an old fashioned ass whipping - like a man. Or better yet just call the cops and let them deal with it.

But no this guy started spraying bullets at unarmed people for being in his yard, shot one in the head, and now he gets to go to prison for it. They will surely upgrade his charges to second degree murder when the ripper dies. This should be used as an example of what not to do.

As growers you are probably not paying taxes. That's stealing. So I guess the DEA and LEO agencies have a legitimate gripe busting down grows. Guess we're lucky they don't come in shooting.

WRONG.

Love the way folks assume that as a grower you dont contribute,we pay the same housing tax[least i pay my 1000 a year instead of letting the social do it]that goes towards police, schools etc etc and i know a few of us who make donations to the chairty of their choice as they reconise they want to put soemthing back but dont want to get penalised for it[as they might be if they said the money was from self imployment-opens a can of worms best left un-open] so it takes the form of anonymous donations.
I & others use a private dentist, this stops the system being drained even more,if u can afford it and the treatment is normally better why not, everyone wins.
Ive lost count of the packets of seeds both me and people i know have given out,bud given out and dont honestly appreciate being told i dont contribute when its clearly opposite to that.

And from what ive seen of the law in the USA they do come in heavy sometimesmaybe not shooting straight off but wasnt so long back a family was terrorised and their pet shot down b4 them.

After having a good read i ddint realise the guy was shot in the face,in my uk naievety i was assuming the person who shot him wasnt an idiot and would shoot in the leg or sim, guess not!!
The punishment far exceeds the crime in the case,i agree with the poster who said give em a whipping, but maybe the homeonwer wasnt capeable of doing this?Would have though letting a few off would scare anyone but the craziest meth head away too.

Just a shame it happens at all,and it wouldnt if folks kept to themselve which is the bottom line for me.

sad situation....that shooter should not even have been charged in the first place. it seems theives have more fucking rights than regular folk now....they can steal from us whenever they want and if they happen to get shot they can sue...fuckin makes me sick.

THE ONLY GOOD RIPPER IS A DEAD ONE.....

I think it is important to know 2 things here.

1. Having an unregistered firearm in your possession in the act of a felony (growing) adds a mandatory 10 years to your sentence. Make that damn thing
legal or sell it please.

2. If you are ever unfortunate enough to be robbed B4 the laws arrives put that thieving SOB in YOUR HOUSE b4 they arrive and put a weapon in their hands.

Self defense in most states will only cover inside your own home or any building ATTACHED to it. Barns and or sheds or fields out on the back 40 DO NOT COUNT.

Defending yourself in your OWN HOME is one of the few things we have left for now that makes sure we can serve old school justice. Not your yard not your field not your barn not your shed unless like I said it is attached to the house and you were fearing for your own safety in your own HOME.

Let's just say I know first hand how this works. I'm not proud of it but will do what ever is needed to ensure the safety of my family.

For all you Billy Bad Asses who crack jokes about shooting a ripper. To look into a man's eyes and watch him take his last breath and know in your heart you were responsible is a CURSE that I would never wish on my worst enemy if I had any that is. It WILL HAUNT you for the rest of your life even if you were in the right.

In my state rippers come with guns 100% of the time.. they are also kicking in your door when your home or not... Rippers are scum and in my mind it should be like texas you come on my property i shoot you ... peroid...

why should i have to put myself and fam in danger by trying not to use force or a gun and then get shot myself because i was worried about getting in trouble for being robbed...

thats right it makes people second guess themselfs and put them and family in danger because your being robbed... makes no sense... if they come on your property for illicit criminal reasons they should be able to be shot...

you shouldnt have to wait till your in immediate danger...

If this was the law... and we could shoot at will... there will be no such things as rippers... cause theyd be dead... and the others would get the idea after one season...

I'm taking a calculated risk by growing, period. If the cops come in, are they going to spare my Vizslas? NO, plus, my cockatiels will probably have a heart attack and die during the opening salvo. I live on 12 acres fenced in, the person that comes behind my gate is friend or foe, if you are back in here, and you have no business here...then curiosity killed the cat (burglar). If your family needs fed, ask for food, don't steal the medicine I have but my blood, sweat, and tears into. Social services are there for a reason.
I don't see a ripper as human, they either knew they were looking for trouble, or they are completely out of touch with right and wrong, either way, they made themselves the target. I didn't go out of the gate with my AR, they came behind my threshold, they endangered my welfare, my family's welfare, my safety,...When, if, the cops come they'll be treated no differently, the "Pursuit of happiness" is in the constitution, and if my happiness is in danger, then you just made yourself a target, and emotional backlash from shooting someone shouldn't effect you if know you were in the right. I don't kill people, I do however, eliminate targets, and I sleep just fine, actually more soundly. Compartmentalize it, you didn't kill a human, you took out the trash. Job well done.
