Dam is a very upsetting place to be for a big smoker... Someone I know bought Bubba Kush from GHS cafe... when we got back to the apartment we found it was FULL to the brim with seeds, I'm sure they advertise Sensimelia.
Grey Area was poo... they had nothing, I was told to come back later in the day for something nice... but when I went back... they were looking at me blankly, like a cpl of school girls... Nice weed in Dam? It's like rocking horse shit!
ALL other coffee shops would hear my English accent... and push tubs of buds to the back of the draw, and bring forward total trashweed... no matter how polite or how cool I tried to be with the Tenders, they were all wankers! Would not sell me anything nice.
Cant say I enjoyed any coffee shop in Dam... Overpriced for dogshit... Why do people grow such rubbish. It's not hard to grow good bud!
Jamieshoes pointed me to Bij... where I found reasonable priced buds... I would have cried if I didn't find that place! But supposedly they are ripping ppl off now.. :O(
I think Spain has got to be the next venture, It's got to be worth a try, I loved my smoking holidays!

i had been told that it was on parr with my stash
so off we went.
the coffeshop; bluebird
i gave them a right earbashing. if my stash was that shit they better stop begging me for it
i go dam for the fun and games. not to find a good smoke. if i find a good something while im there its just a bonus

i pay my budtenders a very reasonable salary. 12-15$ per hour + health benefits. everyone comes in happy and is always extremely courteous. out here people are just happy to have jobs and those that work for me are even happier. ive never understood why i always get such terrible service in the dam. almost like they hate their job. anytime ive asked to look at several types of herb i always get VERY rude treatment like dirty looks and almost slamming the jar of bud on the counter. its a fucking disgrace. specialy since sometimes you have to look through every weed on the menu to hopefuly find something worth purchasing. and why does no shop use good containers? seems like its always stored in some loosly lidded plastic food container. one time i got such shitty service that i "accidently" slapped the whole jar of nugs over the counter and on to the floor and just walked out with a grin and said "ooops sorry mate" HAHAHAH fucking pricks.

it IS a fucking disgrace to be given the evil eye simply for asking to see the produce... the guy doesnt do that when I buy apples..and frankly these apples are bloody expensive, a few basic manners wouldnt hurt..

Love Amsterdam to bits... been coming since 91 and things have definatley changed alot. Steer clear of the Twilight Zone coffeeshop in the Red light...its muck. Got some hash from lebanon and had to go back in an tell him to give me my money back...which he did without problem beecause he obviously knew it was shiiiite too. Bastards. Better off going to producing countries like Morocco for a holiday. Found hash there that I didnt know existed. Unbelievable stuff. Never found anything in A'dam that even comes closse in flavour/high. Cheap too.
Having worked briefly in the coffeshop industry ( runner ) You cannot even begin to imagine the amount of crap those poor tenders have to put up with on a daily basis, Its hard for even the NICEST person not to get a bit surly after all the shit and agro they get constantly !
Ive seen them treated (usually by americans or australians) like animals, sometimes i used to have to drop my parcel and split rather than hanging round for the traditional delivery toot , to avoid getting angry at some of the behaviour i used to see !
Any one who thinks ALL smokers a re nice pacive people who treat coffee shop staff with dignity and respect, in fact there in the minority from what ive seen !

I have been trying to my best to avoid this piece. I hate that Dam and every time I get talked into going I swear I will ever go back again. There are better places to have fun in Europe than that seedy, rip off, touristy, drug addict infested city that so many call Mecca.
really, can you tell me of a better place where people can smoke in public, be social and buy there weed in a safe and secure environment without being a medical patient. i think not. so please keep your lousy attitude away from holland and stay home

I would rather go to Nepal, Morocco, Cambodia, Laos, North India or even Pakistan.....but then I prefer hash to 'erb mostly......and in all of those places I can find a safe and relatively secure place to toke amongst friends......
....Just one time in the year Amsterdam can be good for me and that's during the ICMag 4/20 Cup.....then you can toke on 'erb that has been entered into the competition from growers that have grown it to try and win....so usually that 'erb has been grown with care and not for mass consumption by tourists in Amsterdam......
I used to live there......and have seen how many of the coffee shops churn out alot of bunk, undried and un-cured 'erb just to make a fast buck....
You still can find some quality hash's there, and in my mind hash is what Amsterdam serves up best.....it always used to be that way going back 30 years or so......but I would rather go to the source.....and that entails quite a bit of travel and excitement into the unknown in far off places such as Asia and Africa where you can't get Belgian fries with mayonnaise and peanut sauce........and high mileage hookers for 50 euro's for 15 minutes.....(what a waste of time....lol)......as you can in Amsterdam......but do you really want that?.....
But when all is said and done, if you wish to toke freely in a western environment without having to fake some ailment to get a med card......Amsterdam still works for many....

Id really love to hear more. as i have been to the dam about 8 or 9 times. im an american and always am very respectful (for the most part) when visiting other countries. i wait my turn to view the menu. greet the worker when its my turn. ask him/her how their day is ... etc.etc. and i cant remember one time where the worker was actually courteous. the best treatment ive had is them not being a complete prick/kunt....always seems to me that the shit treatment is from the people working not the people buying. which i really dont understand. your fucking selling weed. theres people working in coal mines deep under the earth breathing in all sorts of toxins and working their ass off to make a salary and they are sitting in a nice mj smoke filled shop with music//tv around people who want to get high. not saying all workers at the coffeeshops are pricks. but it sure seems like alot of unnappreciative people. that being said i dont know what they get paid or what kind of bosses they are working for,, but out here if any of my employees ever copped an attitude like i have seen workers in c.shops out there do, they would be fired on the spot and escorted out sam rothstein style. this is why i bring my own herb/hash because im tired of the fucking attitudes. not to mention 99.9% of their shit is overprices/underquality. hopefully 19 will pass in california and we can open cannabis cafes here. california would become the new mecca for canna-tourism. and rightefully so. then all we would need to do is legalize prostitution and we would be golden.

If I told you my places they would end up like the Dam. Thanks for the condescending treatment and I will take your advice and not go anymore. That was my plan last time I went. There are places you can go where the weed is dry and cured correctly and not put in the tumbler to shake off the trichs before putting for sale (when it isn't still soaking wet) and for a much better price.
