Do you ever look at the weed before you buy it??? Or do you only look at the menu's. Sounds more like its your own fault running into tourist traps than that they are ripping you off. Amsterdam coffeeshops will always try to have the big names on hand, whether they are properly grown and cured or not. Unfortunately this happens more and more often nowadays. Makes you as a customer even more responsible to check out what there is and whether it is good. Remember when you walk into a shop you dont have to buy anything just ask for a look check if there is something good. If you dont like it, you just say thank you and leave...
The lack of knowledge at my local coffeeshop is starting to piss off, "do you want strong weed, or slighty weaker" "No, i want some sativa dominant weed bro. Perhaps only known as haze nowadays."
oh mate ... I went in a shop earlier.. I asked if his Cheisel was BB's (of course it is but I wanted to ask)..."no" he said, "its half haze"...I politely declined..

I dont think its fair to say there is no quailty in the dam it is there but you got to forget about names and menus ask them to show you what is on offer have a look have a smell and if you dont see what you want say thanks and move on.I would also avoid prebag shops with the one exception being katsu.I think the anyday is good as is the damkring and barneys if your not on a budget

I just don't goto amsterdam often (yuck, its scummy anyway) I live down south, I visited the coffeshops (dampkring,grey area) that have been recommended by tons of people on icmag since they are "legit" and don't rip people off. I went in with the confidence that I am gonna get good shit, guess not. The coffeshops down south here have way better weed imho (on average). Guess they grow better weed in belgie

I lived in Maastricht for 3 years, and can say that in those 3 years weed wasn't any better or cheaper than up in the west. Yes Kosbor is good, and the Heaven can have some cool stuff and is cool to chill in summer.
But also for those coffeeshops, always look and smell the stuff before you buy it
Then again the mississippi and the smokey are proof of typical bad coffeeshops down. Much like the black widow towards lanaken...

Kosbor is where I usually get the weed, and believe it or not, gram for gram, buck for buck, the quality was way better than GreyArea's GreyBerry, or Dampkring's bubblegum (all same price +/- 0.5eur). I haven't done any official thc testing hehe but my point is that I've never felt ripped off at the kosbor. Buds are always crisp and full of resin and smell epic, and the bag is always weighed in with +0.1gram. One time I even got 0.2gr extra in one bag, 0.1 in another, made my day. By the way they renovated and opened up into the neighboring shop, so its twice as big now, Also the counter has the weed on display so you can always see what you buy there without even asking.
Maybe I went to amsterdam at the wrong time of the year (low supply) or just caught those specific coffeshops on a bad day. Who knows.. from what I am hearing from everyone here it seems its been this way for a while..

I like the coffeshop "speakeasy" right around the coner from the grasshopper near central station. more locals and didnt see power plant being sold as four or five different strains like most coffeeshops. I like makeing a trip to Adam for better smoke.IMO
now I might as well head for Spain and get myself shagged by beautiful woman and enjoy the culture & herbs 
greenplace did have some pretty good herb last time i was there (x18). i think they are new as this was my first time hearing of the coffeeshop. grey area usually does have some pretty good buds (silver bubble was the talk last time i was there). if you talk to don and aaron over at their seed shop they always got good bud (the chocolope,, la confidential,, lemon skunk). maybe if your nice to them they will sell it to you... and there is always soma for good hash....that is if your willing to spend 30-50 euro a gram on it...ouch. i saw alot of ssh getting coined as amnesia haze...argh what a massive dissapointment on that... its just hard walking through 30-50 shops to find something worth smoking. prices are getting ridiculous though. barneys was charging 17.5euro per gram of that dr.grinspoon. which i thought was pure shit no matter how long it took to flower. no matter. when we legalize in california im going to open a host of coffeeshops that only supply the best california has to offer and we will be the new amsterdam....

Amnesia Coffeeshop on Herengracht was consistently good when I was there a couple years ago.
I found a majority of the shops were selling really commercial stuff, really not that great although even the crappier places had some gems if you looked at enough of their stuff. Thats the beauty of having a menu is that you can ask to see anything so really if you buy bad bud its nobodies fault cept your own (although I bought a really crappily grown white widow as I was with someone at the time and was more interested in getting some bud and taking a seat then asking them to pull out their entire selection lol)
Amnesia was the most solid I visited though, highly recommended, although its kinda outta the way for tourists as its not in the redlight district.

That´s just cruel Karma...... i got the same treatment in greenhous (red light) this summer.
Why in earth cant coffeeshops hire proper staff..... that has passion for there work and know thete stuff!!! It´s ok to not have the dankest weed around....just tell the truth and price that shit fair!!! In 2001 i bought 5 grams of bubblegum for 15 e... the guy told me that it was a little too old, so they reduced the price!!!! With that knowledge i bought the bag and imho it was just lovely weed.... for the price!! I would have stuffed the bag up his ass if i had bought it for 50 e. It´s one thing to be told that the cannabis market is just like any other market out there... and that´s why there is so much buisness and so much hype and advertisement going on, but why cant they behave like other markets? Why doesent stuff that´s sub par get sold on offer, just like in the supermarket? No you get lied to and treated like they are doing you a favor.... and end up with crap that you do pay top price for!!!!!

Couldnt agree more on the Greenhouse Centrum. For the past 2 years there was a really arrogant foreign **** working their. Incredibly big mouth and being very very rude indeed. I never go to that place again, Atleast at haarlemmerstraat they have some nice smiling girls working, all tough the weedtenders could learn some manners and perhaps some dutch (instead of saying huh when you say goedemiddag). I like the guys that work at the tweede kamer, atleast they are friendly enough.
the trouble is the tenders all work for peanuts so it's no surprise that anyone who "might" know enough to be a good tender is put off and that most of them are clueless and/or rude...
