I'm sorry if I have to be classed with the scientific nitpicking jerks, but if you sell cannabis as a medication, and grow it yourself, you need to know the difference between genotype and phenotype and so on.

I didnt get the feeling you were judging him before he made a fool of himself, and I don't really see why it is so wrong to know, and be sure about the most basic definitions in your field of work. The dispensery owner seemed to be at a jerk as well as completely wrong.

In my book you are full of self control for not arguing with him. Good for you!

They are very similar. Biggest difference ia smell. 1 has this crazy acetone smell that is on the plant and on the buds. Also the bud structure while growing was way different but hard to notice on dried nugs.

I agree with the jerk store post. Sounds like you were trying too hard, and he had to "1 up" you, so he decided to argue with you for no good reason.

And certain phenotypes can come across differently too different people. If you can agree on it, than thats great. But really, it sounds like the two of you were just going at if for no good reason. If he does have a nice garden, I am sure there is something you can learn from him. I suggest you learn what you can, and move on.

If not, who cares.

More often than not, especially in socal, dispensary owners and budtenders have absolutely NO clue what they are talking about. They just got the job through connections and aren't even close to qualified. A damn shame =/

Same thing happens at many hydro stores, in socal. I find some actually know what they are talking about in norcal.

you should carry a little cheat sheet for ppl like that/ when they start to talk all crazy just pop it out, give it to them, leave the sample and say "Ill be back in a 3days" The pic with the apples should be on there too.

BTW, most "smart" ppl dont know the REAL shit about canna. Just the surface stuff, and the REAL stuff they DO know is all types of mixed up cause for them it's all HEAR-SAY.

ME, Ill put out what I know is FACT. See how they respond, and then restate fact. If they arguee, I admit to being uneducated and submit... In their being SOOO smart, they WILL I PROMISE google it so they can later BE ALL "TOLD YOU SO, I GOOGLED IT" When they dont do this, its cause they realized YOU were right and will not bring this up again.

You should go back just to convo with him and test his dumb. He may suprise you.

The owner didn't want to show that he lacked the necessary knowledge to sustain a sensible conversation on the subject of phenotype, so he tried his best to minimize yours.

Exactly what I did minus the going back part yet. I don't claim to know much but I'll do my beat to only speak fact and so the research if I find I'm lacking understanding.

Just be proud that you care enough about growing to verify and fact check your knowledge.

How many times have you walked into home depot and had an employee tell you that garden hose is fine to use as electrical conduit, or some other wacko piece of info? Or what about company reps that give you conflicting information on a product? Rep A says one thing. You call back the next day and Rep B says another?

Incompetence is always there, no matter what industry it is. Is it sad that a dispensary owner is unfamiliar with genetics? Yes. Do the majority of patients give a fuck what a phenotype is? No. If they did, they'd be growing their own. Is it unprofessional to be an idiot? Yes. But I doubt he'll be going out of business any time soon.
