Marijuana legalization in California could hurt Canada's economy, experts say

imo, i think everyone outside the country might suffer a little, and maybe legalization would hurt the cartels also, the demand will be higher, because people who are afraid to break the laws, will now be smoking mj because it will be legal, plus all the people who already burn., but the supply will also be more because people will not be afraid of losing their houses over a plant., the market might not change that much at all.,, just because my grandma used to grow the best tomatos ive ever eaten, doesnt mean me, and a million other people dont go to the store to buy tomatos, one thing is prolly gonna happen though, just like everything else, the "mass producers" are most likely going to have a s#itty product, and the people like us, ( not assuming anything ), are going to always have the best product,, there will always be people who dont care what it looks\tastes like, and people who do.

i could be wrong though.

Last week a kid I know showed me some nugz he got at an SF dispensary. As soon as I looked at it I said "beasters!" It was WAY too early, smelled green, was smashed, and looked like it had been kiefed. It also didn't get me high at all after smoking a whole blunt with him & one other guy (I had to smoke some of my OG immediately after). Then he told me that the dispensary labeled it as "local indoor organic" Ha! Just as I suspected, the mega grows are gonna ruin our reputation and flood the market with their bullshit meds.. I hate to say it, but Nor-Cal is the new BC.. sigh...

If the USA legalizes, EVERY country OUT their WILL BE RIGHT BEHIND them.:ying:
And why is that?

Well, it is because WE tell the UN what to do! Only two states are rocking it, and that isn't enough to overcome 70 years of prohibition.

Wish it could be like the Micro-Brew movement in the 90's in Colorado, but that just doesn't look like it will happen.

Seeing more of a Cali model here, just with taxes instead of non-profits.

been in cali my whole life, san francisco bay area, never seen BC bud or brickpack.....always had local shit. sometimes there would be bammers but it was always local guys who fucked their crops up or local asian mob commercial grows. just remembered that i saw some beasters actually yesterday in oakland. it was from local asian growers who fucked up though. most of them wise up after being stuck with crap like that...my regular growers always let their purps get some icey frostage before they pick.

I think most BC bud goes to Seattle Washington. Everytime im in the 206 my friends have packs of garbage commercial. basic green weed that smokes alrite but it has really generic smell and looks like plants.

which club was that? alot of clubs in the bay area dont have SHIT right now. even harborside is low on high grades. they are hawking regular ass indoors for 50-60 an 8th.

im staying classy though. picked up some nice ass purple bubba kush from a private non-club grower. my whole circles been eating it up, i have commercial purple growers coming to me and getting it by the zone for stash smoke.

The party hasn't been in Canada for a long long time. Been sub 3K lbs since '01 up here, even for the creme. Far from what prices are reportedly in Cali.

If you'd look into it, you'd find that smugglers and US growers are yielding much greater dividends than those up in Canada.

I would say pound for pound, Canadian growers are making less - considering the mean quality of herbs - than growers in any other industrialized nation.

why is shit so much cheaper up there? is power cheaper or something? i was always under the impression canada had more liberal laws for MJ than the US, and i heard they are reversing it too. do most people steal or pay for power up there? the only way i can see ppl making money off 2k lbs is if they are stealing the juice.

well then you haven't been moving many elbos.. I used to regularly see 100 lb beaster dumps in the city as recently as 2005.

as for what dispensary my friend got that beaster-like swag from, I have no idea.. I'll ask him next time I see him though.

Yes, electricity is significantly cheaper in Canada. Compare to what is charged in Cali for power - it is fraction of the cost.

And yes, the penalties are significantly lower, especially in BC. The priority that is put upon busting growers is also significantly lower as well.

You can make more then enough money even it you're still getting $1500/lb If you're spending your money like Donald Trump but you're just some crop to crop chump then yah it won't last long.

Nah, as quoted in "the union", here are the numbers:

Importation and homegrown sources of cannabis into the USA, and their percentages of the total amount...

Mexico - 40%
Grown at home - 45%
Canada - 5%
Other countries - 10%

As we can see, Canada is the smallest exporter to USA at 5% of the totals. This will not affect our economy much. Well, if we didn't have such a fascist in power, we could legalize, treat it just like alcohol rule-wise, and help save said economy...

But the 1st step is the removal of said fascist from power... :rasta:

Peace

sry dude, I call BS on these numbers. What Other countries import marijuana into the US? Please provide a source :thank you:

I always thought canada was years ahead of us in terms of medicinal and legislation from when I went there back in the day, but it seems they really are slacking. I remember I could go into a head shop there and come out with 5 lbs of organic seeds, a 2 story bong, quality genetics, and dispensaries and medical clubs pamphlets to buy some bud at

I did - it's a doc called "The union - the business behind getting high". There is/was a sticky thread about it on here.

Watch the video, dude. It can be found, it's not my job to find it for you. I have it on DVD, but can't send it over the 'net...

Peace

Edit: What other countries? Maybe something along the lines of Columbia, Lebanon, Morocco, etc. (especially for import hash) all adding up to that 10% of the total.

The stuff grows everywhere in the world other than the Arctic/antarctic, you know...so how many countries does that cover?

Most of your pot in the USA is grown at home, right in the good ol' USA..

OK, here's a read - had nothing better to do...

I can tell you one thing. even if The Cali bill passes it will be 20 years before any state on the east coast legalizes mj. i live in a med state and it is almost impossible to get a card here

Canada's economy? What about all the people who have been abused and harassed in our own country over this bs? You know the same ones sitting in a tightly confined concrete cage? Countries/economies have to adapt to the shit that is going around them. No hate for Canada, but come on American people, we can't save the whole dame world. Sometimes we need to fix the shit right here at home.

Two words-SCREW CANADA-maybe their entire economy will fail and we can annex their whole country. What have they really done for us as of late besides send over the shittiest parts of their crops, and collect our cash.
