The OGRE looks nice. It doesn't look like an OGRE, it's got a nice symmetrical look to it. What's the flavor like?

looks really good man. I want to eat it.

Nomaad- If you havn't already, seek out 'Teaming with Microbes'. It's well written, with a touch of humor and with the layman in mind. But not too dumbed down. I've read my copy many times over.

Also, thanks for the compliments on the garden. It wouldn't look the same without those cuts from you. Big up!!

great book. after reading this it reaffirmed my position that organic gardening is the only way to go. build up your soil structure / don't deplete your biology by dumping chems on it / watch as the symbiotic relationship between the microbes and your plant bear fruit :]

So... not sure if I like it, but the Chem D is foxtailing like mad. Seems like they'd have packed on a lot more dense weight if not for this... Is this typical with this cut? Anybody? Any way to stop it? It is pretty.

My cut of Chem D will foxtail under heat or intense light conditions. For instance, indoors under air-cooled hoods the top colas will lightly foxtail if they are a bit close. Lower buds on same plant will stay dense and tight, no foxtailing at all. My buddy has same cut and his room got a bit warm, same foxtailing all over...

The foxtailing does not get extreme in either instance and doesn't affect overall appearance/bag appeal, yours looks similar. I wouldn't call yours extreme at all...

im not sure how different they are, but my chem 91 is some of the tightest, heaviest looking bud ive grown. not much for yield though. ive had foxtailing under heat and stress on other plants and also when allowed to go too long.

Seconding what Local just said, I've never seen my '91 do anything like that, tight heavy nugs like reported.

Edit: Thought I would add that I even put a '91 outdoor last year, no fox-tailing outside either....

The nug is actually still the hugest, heaviest shit in the garden... even if you were to trim all the foxtails off. Struggling with whether or not to stop pulling tarp.

If you are concerned about foxtailing I would not stop covering tarp. You must be pretty close by now. When are you covering and uncovering? If you are covering say 8pm to 8am, you may want to change to a covering around 5pm and uncovering after dark schedule. Sometimes being covered during a hot morning can make enough stress to start the foxtailing you are showing. If you are pulling around 5pm maybe you get more afternoon heat and you should go to the 8pm to 8am schedule. My basic point is the heat inside those black boxes is what usually leads to the foxtailing. Light leaks too. Looks great though.
The Twister usually takes care of all those foxtails anyways.;)

HL: Thanks for the input. Jogging the tarp schedule is an interesting idea, but i think the 5pm heat would be worse than the 5am heat. My instinct is to keep pulling tarp. You are right that we're close. Only a week or 10 days to go on the one that is still in the shade of a walnut tree at 8am... The other is 5 days behind. I think I'll just vent some cool air into the one with the foxtailing in the morning...

I stopped pulling my tarp August 4th on one of my boxes, I had been considering sooner but I was scared. Iv never done a dep this late in the season, its working out really good now that that tarp isn't on at night anymore.
