You wouldn't be able to get a 400w in there at 70F ambient temp without proper ventilation. In my setup my exhaust goes out into a sealed room and my temps are near 95F (600w) flowering. You need to be able to exhaust the warm air outside or through the house away from the intake.

I've tried this with the exact items you have now. 400w w/ dayton 265 for exhaust in a small bedroom closet. Without exhausting the heat outside of the room itself you will find your ambient temps will rise quickly on you. Even though its a 400w it will still take your room to over 100F. I had to vent outside and even then I never saw temps below 77/78F. Had bugs too since nothing was sealed. It can be done, it just won't produce the prettiest buds.

My idea was to run a 150 watt hps and open the door periodically, like I tried to explain to you before. No one disagreed with me. Read the posts, ass clown.

LOL

Notice how everyone is disagreeing with your idea to open the door a few times a day to cool his 3x3 400W ?

He needs an a/c.

I wouldn't say he needs an A/C, but he needs to be able to dispose of the heat from the light somewhere besides in the room connected to the closest. Without filtration I wouldn't recommend dumping it outside.

No, not with a 400. And the AC also throws out heat from the back, so either way he needs a hole in the wall/ door open.

So have u figured out a solution to your dilema? I run a 600w hps in a closet similar to the are u are thinkin of doin....I simply keep my door open during lights on and have an oscillating fan outside the closet bringing fresh air in and a lil clip fan in the closet helping to move some of the hot air out....i know u said u wanted to keep door shut but if cant come up with anyting else give a try....it works!

i had a 400 watter in a closet around that same size, and i gotta tell you, you are going to have some pretty insane heat issues if you dont exhaust it outside of the closet. you are going to have to keep the door open all the time, because the second you close it the temp is going to shoot up there. i tried it myself, but had to cut a hole in the ceiling and vent into the attic. hopefully everything works out for you.

Don't give up Krusty, when the going gets tough, adapt and overcome. I have total faith in you and some of the other fellas on here can figure this pig out. Maybe look into those water cooled lights, it's worth a shot. Or, dare I say it, a lower wattage. You can do it.
