Hey Everyone! Just wanted to show off some of my current work being done with hand watering.

I first posted on this thread when it first started it up, just was the hand watering thing caught on. I love it. Thanks all of you who have helped me through out.

Thanks Bonecarver for starting this thread!

390 PPM Tap H20

390 PPM Tap H20

Wow I was under the impression that 390 is kinda high ppms for tap and most of what I read recommends going RO if your tap is pushing 200ppm or more.

390 PPM is high in my book too, especially if that 390 is made up of NaCl (salt used in water softeners). I know if you used 390PPM tap water in DWC your plants would look sick from the 1st week. In CoCo it should be the same as CoCo is considered semi-growing in water.
Now if the 390PPM is a nice blend of NPK+micro's, then it would be OK.

This has been a very informative thread, and will be tryin' a CoCo grow in 10Gal Smart Pots this week.

Has anyone ever used BlackGold Coco blend and how has it worked out? Good, bad, or shitty?

Yeah, don't grow with softened water. I don't have problems with 370 ppm hardwater, but I dilute it with RO at times.

softened water is not good i agree on that :D

hard water in it self is not a proplem depending on sodium and bicarbonate levels. there is also other minerals and things that can be not so beneficial for the plants int ap water, but in most cases i think its the best option. mixing RO, RAIN or DISTILLED/DEIONIZED WATER every watering is the best bet in cases with hardwater :D

bonecarver just a quick question can i veg my clones in a 4inch square pot for about 4 weeks then pot into a 6.5 litre pot 1 week before flowering that way i can keep them together under a 250 cfl grow light and it might stop them from being leggy as i think the 250 light doesnt cover the floor space that 24 6.5 litre pots take up and when i pot them on early they do go leggy except the ones directly under the light thanx in anticipation

it sounds possible - try it . but id use a bit bigger pots for vegging to water less often.

watering during veg

watering during veg

hey guys i got a 4-5" from seed plant. it is a whitelight (nor. lights x white widow) and it is currently under 2x 26w 6500k cfl and 2x 23w 6500k cfl. it is in a one gallon pot. my question here is how often should i be watering this plant?

humidity is around 60-65% and temps around 25-30 degrees. ph is around 6.0

thanks for all the help

oh btw the plants older leaves (first true leaves for example) are a lil light green, the new leaves look darker green.

the older leaf might be lighter in ciolour because of less fotosythesis at the lower branches due to less light intensity.

you can water when the pot is lighter to start with. or more or less every 2 days or if you notice its getting very dry and light between waterings, just water more often.

normally plants use less water under fluoros.

400HPS VEG?

400HPS VEG?

Hey Bone, do you think i should start my hps for vegging along with the cfls and flouros? will this help my veg stage to grow faster. iknow i will have to water more often but i think, newb yes, this will promote better root growth and stability. like i said they are growing nicely and about 4-5" tall. im looking to pull 20-25 clones from 3 mothers. i need this all complete by the first 2 weeks of dec.

i am watering right now, every 2 days ph'ed water, and nuted everyother watering and i tend to flush once a week.

btw its a 400watt hps

B

bonecarver_OG

the more light the quicker they will grow :::::D just make sure the hps is far enouogh not to stress or burn them

B

bonecarver_OG

awesome :D if you see any signs of light stress just move the lamp up :D

Hi. First post with a question.

Hi. First post with a question.

Hello,
I'm just getting my first indoor together after being an outdoor grower for, well, a long time. I'm going coco, handwatered. So, I've read this whole thread, needless to say. In order to save a bit of nutes/cash, could I water to 10 or 20% runoff with pure RO and then top up with nutrient solution?
Bonecarver, great thread. I live in the Costa del Sol coincidentally.

use canna if you can aford it, if not there is other cheaper brands of compressed coco, but they got a higher ec.

no i dont think it sounds like a good idea to do the watering the way u say. you would need to water twice with run off to guarantee nute solution in all of the coco.

just do it the other way around.

mix your nute water with RO water or distilled water before you ad the nutrients. water each time with a good amount of runoff.

keep you PH allways at 5.8 to 6.0

watch your EC levels. costa del sol got horrible tapwater (its DE-SALINIFIED SEA WATER), so if you dont mix it down about 2/3 or more, the end products quality will be greatlly affected.

my coop partner living in a area close to you, without checking his EC, he accidently used his 2.4 EC tap water mixing with nutes!!! this obviouosly lead to some of the outdoor plants to DIE, since the salt level gets way too high when the pot gets dry, and secondly i think the plant will have issues for a long time forward if the coco gets loaded up with sodium from the start.

a plant that is figthing to recieve nutrients, is never going to produce high-quality bud.

peace!

hi Spanishwilly! maybe you know sinsemilla street??

I have found both Canna and B'cuzz coco bags (easily available, at least in Seville & Cadiz Growshops) to be equal in terms of quality, and both cost the same, like 7-8€ per 50L bag.

I did tests on 4 different brands of coco. I was potting up, and the shops were out, or closed so I was forced to use different brands. I used Canna, B'cuzz, and 2 other brands I can't remember.

With PH'd 150ppm water going in, all the brands were acceptable, although Canna was the best with no changes in PPM or PH and clear runoff.

B'cuzz was second with similar results, the other 2 brands had slight color to the runoff (I suspect just coco dust) but the PH and PPM's were all fine to use right out of the bag.

The difference between brands was noticed later on, when their consistencies caused different rates of drying. Not a huge deal but kind of a PITA with a room filled wall-to-wall where it's nice to have a regular schedule.

I haven't tried any of the coco blocks.
