So if the cops were just planning on robbing them why bring the dope?

In case something went wrong just like it did.

Who says they brought it besides them?
Did you see it?
How do you know it was 500lbs?
History is written by the victors

wishing death on cops who tried to scam some money off of stolen pot is just fuckin stupid. if you wouldnt wish death upon your fellow pot grower for a transgression of this nature, why a cop? i get what your saying j.f......and you are also correct, imo, that anyone who thinks america would be better off without police has never been to a society where lawlessness reigns. do i like crooked cops? fuck no...but we are talking about cops who STOLE pot, FROM cops, and tried to sell it back into circulation...there was no 'reverse' bust....ive seen worse cops by far. silly fuckin dopes pop up on these threads every once in awhile, gansta badass children who probably pee in thier underoos when faced w anything not on playstation. grow the fuck up tools. i see nothing in this story that tells me they deserved to die, and i will assume, because they were public servants, that throughout thier careers in law enforcement they probably did more to help people then any single person in this thread, myself included.
---now, if they had stolen 500 lbs from ME personally.......

I'm only going by whats in the news, the cops could be lying but I don't think it's as easy for them to get that shit out of the evidence room for a dirty op as some people think it is, it's not like Hollywood.

Now that you understand the powers of these cops, you understand why a lot of people hate them for it, i mean there are good cops no doubt bout that but the bad one out weight the good ones here ,,,,

and the story,, that shit is straight up fishy, they were trying to get the 250k and the 500 lbs but karma is a bitch,,,,

That's what I'm saying.
Who says they really had it?
No matter what their motives were, they never intended these guys to get the pot anyway, they were going to either bust them, or rip them off for the 250K, so there never was any reason to actually bring 500lbs.
50 pounds spread across the top of a few boxes with a bunch of towels underneath looks like 500lbs at a glance.

The only weed they ever had was the sample they showed to get the ball rolling I bet.

around my way the cops don't make any type of money. you have to be a veterans veteran to make it. they post in the paper when they hire city police their starting salary. 250,000 is a chunk of change for a few to split. i don't think it's impossible. or even unlikely. but who knows

OK explain to me what their plan was? They were going to go into that home, kill everybody and take the money?

it is not uncommon in american law enforcement for police to "bust" dealers and keep the drugs

There was recently an article on a NYC officer that was setting up dealers to be knocked and they would steal the drugs and resell them.

Perhaps in Japan the police have honor.

America is not Japan.

"As four undercover detectives and an informant arrived at the house, two officers drove an unmarked vehicle loaded with marijuana into a garage of a house in the 2300 block of West Maldonado Avenue. Soon, shots rang out inside the house, killing Ledesma and injuring two other detectives."

My guess is the informant approached them(cops) with the idea of robbing them in the first place, probably not the first time they've done this kind of thing.
They take all the money and say fuck you, what are you going to do about it?
The guys are ex cons, not the type of people who would go to the police and say "we were ripped off by the police while we were trying to buy 500lbs of weed"
And how would they know which police to go to to tell in the first place, who's dirty and who's not?
It's a simple, easy scam, robbing people who don't complain about it, except this time they did, with guns.

Informant points them at easy marks, and the cops(little group of them) do the robbing, and they all split the money.

Ex-Police Officer Gets 11 Years in Drug Case

A former New York City police officer who helped a friend and drug dealer distribute cocaine and carried out a fake police seizure to rob a rival drug courier was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in prison.

The former officer, Juan Acosta, pleaded guilty in April to conspiring to commit drug, extortion and firearms offenses.

He was accused of acting as a sort of soldier for a longtime friend, Yorick Rafael Corneil-Perez, as they and others distributed large amounts of cocaine across the city, the United States attorney’s office in Manhattan said. Mr. Acosta had been a beat cop in the Soundview section of the Bronx — assigned to the 43rd Precinct — from 2000 until his arrest in a sting operation in December 2009.

According to the authorities, Mr. Acosta used his badge and a police car in mid-2005 to rob a drug courier who worked for a rival of Mr. Corneil-Perez of several hundred thousand dollars. They said Mr. Acosta also tipped off Mr. Corneil-Perez to which streets were lightly patrolled by officers and agreed to provide protection for a 10-kilogram shipment of cocaine from a Long Island warehouse to the Bronx.

But one of Mr. Acosta’s missteps was meeting with someone he believed was a narcotics trafficker from Colombia, who in reality was a government informant.

Mr. Acosta was arrested in late 2009 after transporting what he thought was 22 pounds of cocaine, a job for which he was paid $15,000, the authorities said.

And you know this because? this is what I'm not getting, why people are assuming this?
....from what i got out of the story, the cops on the scene are claiming this was a reverse bust, undercover, that none of thier supervisors knew about, out of thier jurisdiction.....now, as much as i appreciate what cops do to protect citizens like me, i am assuming that my between the line reading of the situation is correct and they were trying to make a buck. illegal and rotten, but far from deserving death. i was not arguing with you, i was laughing at the kids spouting thier "dead cops are good cops" spew. take a biiiiig bonghit j.f.

That's a story of one cop, we're talking how many cops here? This moves into conspiracy and a different level. Also seems to me that if the cops just wanted to roll them it would have been much safer to do it after the restaurant meeting.

I understand that there are dirty cops, and I understand that people have a distrust of them but seems crazy to condone them as dirty and accept a cops slaying because of distrust.

Well then, here's a story about 70 of them working together doing all kinds of illegal shit.

"The Rampart scandal refers to widespread corruption in the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (or CRASH) anti-gang unit of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Rampart Division in the late 1990s. More than 70 police officers in the CRASH unit were implicated in misconduct, making it one of the most widespread cases of documented police misconduct in United States history. The convicted offenses include unprovoked shootings, unprovoked beatings, planting of evidence, framing of suspects, stealing and dealing narcotics, bank robbery, perjury, and covering up evidence of these activities.[1]"

So all 70 of the bad cops in the US just happened to be working together?
No, there are bad cops EVERYWHERE, working individually, and in groups, sometimes really big groups.

IMO the cops were gonna play "stick up kids"
they fucked w/ the wrong people bro.
u try to take me for that kinda $$, the story wouldn't change.
just different names involved, same outcome.

this type of shit happens all the time.
way back when, pre 2k :D, cops would roll on me & my friends all the time.
they'd catch you w/ drugs, beat yer ass and rob you.
what are you gonna do about it?
i'd take a beating over prison anyday, still would.

i'm not talking heavy amounts like this story, but the point is still there.

There is a lot of crooked cops these days. I knew one who was stealing money and drugs from confiscation room he got caught and is now doing 5 years in prison.

As far as we know, the police could have executed those dudes for the money and mistakenly shot their own guy.

Just because a bunch of people on a pot board declare the cop was dirty doesn't convince me. I still see a story about cops being killed in the line of duty.

Boo fucking hoo man. You make it seem like they are somewhat superior to us. They are no different than the tool working at a fast food restaurant. They show up to work, and do a half assed job. Seriously get off their dicks.

People are killed everyday for bullshit reasons. Just because it's a cop am I supposed to feel bad? Maybe in Japan you are taught to respect authority without question, but not here. I'd feel worse if a fucking innocent animal was killed in the line of fire.

You say "line of duty" as if they were doing some brave service for the community. What serial killer, pedophile, or rapist were they trying to bust? None. What domestic violence calls were they answering? None. What citizen broke down on the side of the road were they helping? None. They were creating THEIR OWN crime, for their OWN benefit.

This just goes to show that Cannabis Prohibition has caused far more harm than good. None of this would be happening if prohibition was over. Cops wouldn't be able to pray on peaceful stoners for their own sick benefit.
