Naming Links...

hiya!

is there a way to name a link? i think we used to have the option to name the link, then insert the link into a post, now, i am only able to insert the link itself and when it becomes a clickable link, the whole thing is underlined and clickable...

there is a way to do this now, but it is too confusing for me...(yeah, i'm a dummy).

if this time saving feature could be put back into place, i would really like it!

thanks in advance!:tiphat:

Look at the reply window. See the Globe with the chain link?

Write the name of the link, highlight name with cursor, click on the globe, paste actual url in the globe window, hit OK, Voìla!

With the name still highlighted, I like to click on the large A with black line underneath and change the color. Not needed but, makes it more obvious it's a link rather than emphasis.

Just for fun, quote me and you'll see how the following link looks in code

thanks FreezerBoy, i actually didn't know how to do it that way.

i've always done it with this code

[---url=][/url---]

then you insert the link location here where the red $'s are

[---url=$$$][/url---]

then just type whatever name for the link you want where the red ==='s are

[---url=]===[/url---]

which ends up like this

[---url=$$$]===[/url---]

anyway, lol, FreezerBoy's way looks lots easier

peace, SOG

btw, you don't use the blue dash's, i only added them
because without them the site doesn't display the rest
of the code.

that code i posted above works, ...every time.

it's pretty simple too, just insert the link and whatever name
you want, ...like i said above.

always good to know more than one way to skin a cat.

peace, SOG

hi sleepy,
sometimes the pictures are saying more that words, so I thought I could help with some screen shots :)
all the steps that allready well described  with some picts
as said
the first step is to copy the URL that you want to insert in the link, like this one https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=179160

after that enter the text that should be seen , I've named the example "Name The Link"
picture.php

then highlight-mark the text that you entered
picture.php

after highlighting, hit the globe
picture.php

and insert the URL tha you already copy on the first step
picture.php

after inserting hit ok.

Your link is ready and that's how it looks like
picture.php

hope that this will make it a bit easier for you :)
