what's your G.E.S.? [garden efficiency score]

my friend and i both veg our plants for 3 weeks, we both end up with about 600g, only difference is mine took 45 days and his equatorial sativa took 120 days, he got 3 crops in last year for a total of 1800g, i got 8 crops in for 4800g, but we have the same growing efficency, bullshit...

There ya go, that's why Cervantes' formula is better, days of flowering time vs wattage and total grams harvested.

We shoot for .5gr per watt every 30 days, or 1gpw every 60. You didn't list your lighting wattage in flower, but I would guess it's a 1KW.

So your goal is .75gpw for 45 days, which would be 750 grams on a 1kw light. You got 80% of that, or 600gr = .6gpw/45
Your buddy would have to hit 4GPW at 120 days out of the same light, which would be 4000 grams since he took so long. Since he got 600, his gpw is miserable, hitting only .15% of his target at .6gpw/120.

And yes the annual crop count matters hugely as well. If you cannot flower at least 5-6 crops a year you're doing something wrong and your garden is inefficient.

its garden efficiency score not strain efficiency score its ment to mesure how efficent your growroom is setup an running reguardless off strain some one with a crapy set up an good strain could get a better yield than some one with a good setup an a low yielding strain its good to know how well your growroom is running reguardless of your strain

Check out my thread on Lighting and Growing efficiency for calculations and tables.

There is big differences between the lumens produced by the different wattages of lights. Grams/(Lumens x 1000) is a good way to compare different growers or growboxes.

Grams/sqft/flowering day is the efficiency indicator that best compares plant genetics, grow methods, best use of space and time.

I do not max my yields, nor am I very efficient, I only run 4 cycles per year, two week veg on large clones, 10 week bloom, one week to harvest and clean, then replant. I just added a second room to meet my requirements for yield.

I grow for quality, that is what is important here, not maximums. And I am happy with my flowers, and no amount of efficiency can buy that.

This system doesn't really make sense to me, from a scientific standpoint. You aren't really doing math, you are just arbitrarily giving your self a numbered "rating" which is pretty meaningless.

If you want to count time, you need to calculate grams per watt per day. Also, no one really mentioned, another aspect of growing efficiency is cost of nutrients. Some growers claim massive yields using thousands of dollars in commercial additives and god knows what else, yet a good efficient grower should be able to get to some ideal numbers by just running cheap gh/lucas or a water-only fed organic soil mix.

For me, dialing in a new space, my first goal is quality. Once I've mastered the conditions in a space for top notch quality, then my next goal is replicating that on a larger quantity without any sacrifice in quality. Then, when you have attainted quality AND quantity, you can begin to revise things and cut corners you don't need, experiment, and see what works....that is where efficiency really comes in. And then...then comes strains, they can make a world of difference! Basically, you are never done tuning in your room....
