Today was hot but the plants liked it. My main focus right now on top of a few projects and clean up is finding the right amount of water for these girls based on their size, temps and how much they drink. Through observation I make a bit of progress each day and should be very dialed soon.

Here is my very best friend in HL's GH.

Plants are blowing up in there and getting stronger. Might have to do some topping soon or we'll be hitting the top by late august on a few plants.
Happy Monday night everyone.:)

would someone mind looking at my pics. I have something trange going on with my 1st grow ever. Everything looks pretty good, but every once in a while out of no where some of my bottle branches wilt wilt and droop. They end up drying out and I end up cutting them off. What could be the cause of this (see pics)? I took some pics of the cross sectin of one of the wilted branches... the cross sectins of of a branch about every three inches.... should there be this big hollow core of the branch?? Humble asking someone to take a look and offer some suggestions.... this is baffling me.

your link is still bad. remove one of the "https://"'s

that shit is bizarre... looks like when a branch becomes detached from the main stalk from wind or weight... but that seems improbable with the kind of trellising you have employed. The plants look very healthy in general.... wish I had more to offer.

Dralion - short as I dont want to hijack:

- Hollow stems are fine, not rare, even common in cannabis.
- Drooping dry bottoms: I agree with nomaad, 1) appears when branches break, 2)when dry, often the bottoms will flag before the tops (are they getting regular water?), and 3) when a plants breaks off part of its rooting structure at the bottom of the stem just under the surface of the dirt. This can happen in transport, wind , shoving a support stake in too close to the stem, etc. Only you know if any of these have happened recently. Your plants look good over all so I have no idea. Best wishes.

HL: I feel like LocalHero, I dont know what to say. Damn, I am a good grower and when I come in here I just want to hang it up. It is almost like we are growing different species of plants. Rocking man, you and GD are just CRUSHING it. You stare at those amazing things everyday, do you even have the capacity to understand how on the edge you are in growing the plant you are :artist: - or are you totally desensitized and think they all grow like that?

On serious note, HL & GD, I just dont see where the hoop house plants are going to go the next 7 weeks. They are ALREADY grown into each other. They will at least double in size b4 aug, then the stretch? Clearly it is going to be a hedge, but is yield lost or is there some light photon physics I dont understand yet. I am an indoor guy trying OD for the first time so I am still adjusting to the intensity of the sun and its abilities with the plant. Thanks for the answer if you get to it.

Ok, I fixed the link. I dont know what is going on with the plants either. I mean, they shouldn't be hollow branches like that, right? Someone suggest it could be to rapid of growth, to much water. Does that seems to hold any real reason to anyone? I'm at a loss an just hoping to figure out what Im doing wrong, so I can make it to the harvest. I've lost about 8 branches this year. Some seemed to be wind before I had the cages in place.... but now, these strange hollow branches you'll see in my album pics is just weird!

HL, please pardon my behavior. I'm new to this all and wasn't aware of the forum appropriate edict. I certainly don't mean to hijack. Again, sorry!

Dralion: start a thread of your own on the problem and use
. tages around your links so photos pop up in your posts.

There is no doubt that the trench garden will hedge out at this point. The truth is the hoops worked as good or better than we expected. Last year the plants in that garden did not fill in the space at all and that is something I wanted to avoid at all costs. We probably could have planted 2/3 as many plants and filled in the same amount of space and next year that will be the case. I grow for a 5,000+ patient collective so plant counts are not an issue for me. I am just happy that the whole area will be covered with buds. Each plant will not reach its full potential weight wise but I think for the sq footage of my garden I will max out for what it can produce.
Here are some pics of the trench garden last year. You can see there was a lot of space between the plants and that was something I wanted to avoid.

It is going to look very different this year.:dance013:The garden is already more filled in than last year.
Here's a couple more shots from around the farms.

Today was a good day.
Plants grew a lot in the last two days. They've earned my respect. Sometimes I forget where we were at not that long ago.

I'm getting ready to work hard over the next few weeks, looking back on these pictures is all the motivation I need. HumboldtLocal and I were discussing today which males are starting to stand out. We have some real handsome boys to choose from. Most are all such strong plants it's really hard to choose which traits we desire most and want to attempt to pass on, and which strains would make excellent hybrids. I'll get some pics from the sausage party in a few days.:)
I'm psyched to be sharing HL's farm with everyone on IC,I have so much love for my life long passion of cannabis. Thanks for everyone enjoying the ride. Let's all grow some special herb! Lets all agree to spend one moment each day to think for a second, and ask yourself,"what can I do to grow a little better herb?" Even if you don't find the answer, just thinking about it makes you a better grower.:)
This is fun, let's do it!:thank you:

Hello all,

Ganja D, I am curious as to the size difference of the plants in the greenhouse and the ones in direct sunlight.

Is this becuase of getting sirect sunlight or rather, are the greenhouse plants not responding as fast as the outdoor ones?

Also, I noticed the raised beds...have read they are best due to rootball warmth.

I ask becuase of security issues I was thinking of making a hoophouse and 6mil plastic.

I am reluctant becuase of yield issues.

I need the security so it trumps yield but I am curious as to what to expect.

Thanks,

minds_I

PS, I am a couple of counties east of you...it is damn hot already...107 yesterday. Will having the hoophouse open on both ends OK?

There are two greenhouses here. One was planted with mostly younger plants that were started 4-5 weeks later then all the plants in direct sunlight, and a few that were chose because they had a tight, strong, short, structure, fast growing roots and amazing smell early in veg growth.
The other greenhouse has plants started the same time as all the big open sun plants. Those plants have their branches tied down to a mesh screen. I believe HL posted a few pics of it a while back. I'll get some shots of both greenies in a few days.

107 is hot! If you are considering hoop houses for your plants I assume you mean next spring?

Hello all,

Actually I was thinking of this weekend, I would rather not have to but I have to do something about there being in plain sight. I have no other place to locate them (they are in wine barrels) with as much sun as they get now (which is about 75% of the day due to treees). My plan was to build a 3 sided blind leaving the southern exposure not obscured by 6mil plastic. The plants are then able to get the sunlight because of a southern exposure.

The plan was to have a roll-down sheet for when the rains come in mid-October.

We have been having weird weather in the northstate as you know and I have no idea what fall will bring or if there will be any heavy rains before harvest. Having an enclousre to keep the rain off the plants is an ideal situation.

In addition, the greenhouse is small and can be moved.

I have nothing but good vibes but just in case you know.

So the question I am asking is if given teh choice to grow unde rhte sun or in a greenhouse...which would you choose and why?

If I may ask.

Looking really good you guys.

Minds I,

With the added heat and humidity there is no way an outdoor grower can keep up with the under glass grower during vegetative growth. However during budstack and through budding, there is no way that the under glass grower can keep up with the outdoor grower. The best of both worlds would be to veg through until about July under glass, then when the blackberry clouds come, yank the cover off the greenhouse to finish the plants out under full sun. -T

What about 1K HPS per 10 x 10 square in the green house for flowering?

Good Fucking God Man! Those smarties are off the hook. Someday bro I will be taking some advanced courses from you, would love to come out soon with a razor blade and some rooting hormone on a 4,500 mile round trip. Good work my friend, looking forward to some blooms.
