I use neem oil, but I avoid spraying any on buds. Mites prefer the undersides of sun leaves to any other part of the plant, and the only reason they move around at all is when they run out of space from overpopulation. If they don't reach that critical level, they're happy to live out their entire lives on the underside of one 'finger'. By keeping the population down to a dull roar, you can concentrate the battle on the undersides of the leaves, keeping the buds almost completely mite free. A sun leaf can be cupped in the palm of one hand and the spray held in the other. I push the sun leaf down so it's about vertical and angle the spray away from the buds and soak the underside 'till it drips. Alternatively, a shallow bowl of neem and water solution held under each sun leaf. Push the leaf down into the solution and swish around. If you use this method, it's more important to rinse. Apparently, the neem is not so well tolerated on the topsides of leaves as it is when used only on the bottoms. The mechanical method of application is at least as important as the choice of pesticide when it comes to mites.

if you want 100% eradication, use floromite... get a fresh bottle at the grow store, or buy it online, its about 20or30 bucks an ounce, but you only need a drop pre ounce too water, ie. 54 ounce sprayer 54 drops... this is the best killer for mites... if your worried about burning your buds, back the solution off 50% and hit-m 3 times a day, for 3 days and spay the piss out-of-them espcially the under side of the leaves, also spray the topsoil, the pots, under the pots and everything around the pots... this works! I haven't had mites in years...

also; make sure you inspect, quarantine and treat any new plants you bring into the grow room.

I had this problem a few years back, and man'o'man I have vowed to never let it happen again! I used mitacide on the plants and you have to make sure you really get under the leaves.... I did use those hot shot strips and I can't tell you for sure if they worked but hey it didn't hurt putting them in the room....If you were in veg then I would say neem oil them, but in flower those oils will soak into your buds and you will not be happy with that outcome and taste! and another tip is they don't like windy places, cause it makes it hard for them to stay on the leaves and drys them out, so get a few more fans and move that air all over make those leaves sway. ( They love moist warm and calm air flow places, thust explains them being under the leaves) Good luck getting it under control!

There's a product that was recommended to me called sucrashield. I haven't used it yet but I will if they come back. Its a contact killer made from tobacco plant sugar esters that kills them by dessication and breaks down into sugar. I haven't seen any in a week after using the lower end of the recommended dose of azatrol 3 days apart using a pump sprayer. I had been using a spray bottle spraying almost daily before that and just keeping them at bay - see just a couple every night - and the difference in coverage was unbelievable. After this first pump spraying I haven't seen any more live mites or eggs. Knock on a lotta wood. I think the Azatrol at that dose worked more as a contact oil spray.
I think you have to soak the underside of the leaves enough to get past the guard hairs of the leaf, otherwise the mites have a safe haven. The plants don't totally love that oil though. Can't say enough good things about using a pump sprayer - something like this: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3908908

i use simple insect soap with great success against spider mites. I have used neem, bug bombs, and pyrhreins (sp). Nothing works as well as insect soap and pure water. I spray insect soap on day 1 and pure water and days 2 and 3, rest on day 4 and repeat for a week or two. I also make my own insect soap with some dawn and clean water.

two weeks? damnn....

a member here "domincangreen" recommends this for spider mites:
go to lowe's hardware store or online and buy volck oil spray for $6-7 and apply 2-3 times at recomended rate one bottle will last you for ever and your mites will be gone this stuff kills eggs too.

he knows his shit, and grows lots of weight... if you have a lowes nearby, go pick the shit up!

Or you can buy "Safer Soap", it's a "specially designed" insecticidal soap. It's pretty cheap, available at Lowes/HD, and it works. One spray did it for me...I did it twice anyway to be sure.

It's perfectly safe. It drowns the bugs/eggs by making the water "wetter".

Apply it like Mr Greengenes says...make sure you get underneath all the leaves.

Good luck!

keep in mind that mites like it hot and dry so one thing
that's helped me in my battles with the borg is to keep
my temps down and spray the plants a couple times a
day, and get under the leaves, that's where they live.
(i usually just spray with water but i sometimes add
some Neem, about 1 cap full per gallon, and a few
drops of dish washing soap)

btw, those No Pest Strips work like a charm to get rid
of mites, you just need to use them correctly.

they work by exuding dichlorvos gas which kills mites
like a dream, you just have to put it in your flower room
and leave it in for the light's out period making sure you
have your fans turned off too, otherwise your ventilation
system will pull all the gas before it has a chance to kill
the little bastards.

anyway, if you do that for a week i promise you, the
mites will be dead, D E D, dead, lol.

then just put the NPS in a zip lock bag until the next
time you are invaded.

btw, there is an excellant discussion on the proper use
of these No Pest Strips here.

hope this helps

peace, SOG

If your room is infested by mites in all over the plants you have to use some kind of poison or something like that. Mine was completely i've tried down the temp, spray some water to rise moisture, some neem oil, but nothing has worked so i've consulted a botanic and he recommended a agrotoxic called VERTIMEC from syngenta.com
It is a systemic poison so you have to use at least 3 times each 15 days till all mites be dead. 1 ml per litre. It kills all kinds of mites. Very strong poison. After 10 days from the last sprayed you are able to consume your plants.
I repeat, you should use this poison only if your room is completely infested. In my case the spider mites started to built some nets !!!
Hope this help
Cheers
