Ah well, I have no delusions there about it being real life Mrs. B, but I have been observing a trend for several decades of (perhaps many decades) of the media shaping societal values.

An excellent example is the US Virgin Islands. Before Cable TV virtually crime free, you would leave your key in the car as it wouldn't drive itself off the island now would it? Leave the house door open all day while away at work so the animals could play in and out.

Flash forward five years after Cable TV became island-wide with all the stateside programming. Virtually every home had bars on all windows and doors, murder rates were higher than Washington, DC (death capital of the '80s), car theft became sport, and Marion Barry dealt cocaine with the islands' top elected officials right out of Government House.

Remember the book by Marshall Macluhan (sp?) "THe Medium is the Massage?" I need to reread it... he discussed all this stuff back in the '60s.

I feel that has directly to do with "urban" culture and its popularity with young people
It has replaced traditional culture for kids who cant relate to their own, so they look up to womanizers and people who are solely interested in money and vanity

Weeds use to be my favorite show also, but know I force my self to watch it, hoping it gets better. Its not an accurate portrayal by far, and there are alot of WTF moments, but it has its moments... alot of them. And it was the only one out there, now i'm drawn to breaking bad, can't wait for the new season.

They really need to cancel it and make a spin off with Silas growing somewhere by himself, or maybe with Doug and Andy. Shane could be the muscle. The croquet mallet was the best part of the finale. Twisted journey for that kid.

I think that would be a good spin-off, and also can't wait for Breaking Bad.
At first it was a little weird seeing Brain Cragston (Hal from Malcolm in the Middle) but you get used to it after he shaves his head and starts cooking meth. Plus those sunglasses really help.

IMHO it has gone downhill since episode 2; but my gf loves it and i still find some amusement from it

Yeah it was the finale and yes there will be a season six. It's showtimes highest rated show, I have a feeling they don't want to mess that up and cancel it after that ending.

True it has moved beyond cannabis but i don't see it as a problem. I know we all have this huge urge to be ''aknowledged'' but come on you can't have a show that is just about weed. For the same reason you can't have a show about potato or tomato farmers..because at the end of the day thats who we are..

(now if they would just stop FUCKING with us!)

That was crazy! I loved it! I watch the show half the time just to see what kind of mess the kids are going to get in to. I like the idea above about there being a spin off for just the kids or Andy. Give the show a couple fresh ideas to run with, and would definitely be funny as hell!

I have nothing but terrible things to say about the writing of this show since season 2. It's like amateur hour at a really bad comedy convention somewhere in the Midwest on a Wednesday. Just humiliating bad cliches one after another coupled with terrible acting. Alas, I won't bother you with giving examples of this terror as to save face-because I still watch the damn thing.

Just watched season 1&2 on dvd, got to say its the first american sitcom style series I actually enjoyed, quirky eneough to keep me interested, bravo to showtime for getting this mainstream.
Nancy always looks just a little bit stoned. Shes got this strange little smile on her face. Nice stuff. Anyone seen Lexx? now that is OUT ThERE.

Season 1 & 2 were great, but then it slowly started to fall downhill from there on. The last season was mildly entertaining. I am looking forward to seeing the outcome of last seasons finale though.

IMO they shouldn't have got rid of Conrad, he was one of the reasons 1 & 2 were good
